The well-known luxury supermarket Seijo Ishii. Surprisingly, the review count for the Higashi-Nakano store is 0. It seems like it's waiting for a surprise attack from the Nakano locals, but I'll go ahead and make the first post (^^; It's located on the 2nd floor of Atre Vie Higashi-Nakano, right in front of Higashi-Nakano Station West Exit. There are lots of Seijo Ishii's homemade side dishes, imported sweets, and other fun items lined up. Among them, there are several types of bread. The popular ones seem to be the hot biscuits and scones, but I'm not into sweet stuff, so I'll pass. Actually, I always end up buying the homemade tangzhong fluffy white bread only (laughs). *The diameter of the plate used for photography is 16 cm. *Prices are excluding tax.
- Homemade Tangzhong Fluffy White Bread (3 pieces) ¥279
Made using scratch method at Seijo Ishii's own factory, from measuring the flour, preparing the dough, shaping, to baking. It's a heavy bread, and when you eat it, it's fluffy. I use it to make sandwiches, but it's also delicious toasted. The slight sweetness comes from sweetened condensed milk, maybe.
- Premium Cheesecake ¥790
It's a very popular product from Seijo Ishii. They sell a whopping 900,000 units a year. So, I've been wanting to try it once. Pastry chefs handmake each one in Seijo Ishii's kitchen. It has a crispy streusel on top, cream cheese, roasted almonds, and raisins in the center, and a sponge base made with cane sugar. The rich cream cheese pairs well with the tangy raisins, and the crispy texture of the almonds is nice too. Personally, I thought the sponge base was a bit thick, but with the rich cheese, it's not a big deal. This size and price make it a good value. There's a reason why popular products are popular. There are also limited-time premium cheesecake products, so I'd like to try them if I get the chance.
- Fumagari/Antipasto Misto ¥1090
Seijo Ishii has a good selection of prosciutto, so I always buy some kind of prosciutto. This time, I chose this set, which was 20% more. An assortment of Italian prosciutto, Milano salami, and coppa. I haven't tried it yet (it's tonight's snack), but it's always delicious, so I have high expectations this time too. This amount for ¥1090 is cheap. Once you've had this kind of prosciutto, you can't go back to supermarket prosciutto (^^; I didn't buy it, but the strawberry butter for ¥755 caught my eye. I'd love for those with a sweet tooth to try it. Also, I want to try the homemade sausages next time. Seijo Ishii is always enjoyable whenever I visit. Nakano residents, please come and visit too (laughs).
