I stumbled upon a place along Yasukuni Street where warriors gather to relax. It felt like a casual izakaya in the neighborhood, with warriors sharing their stories at different tables. The variety of dishes was good, the food was decent, and the selection of drinks was excellent. The prices were very reasonable, making it a wallet-friendly and enjoyable place to visit.

I used it for lunch on a regular day. The lunch menu is all under 1000 yen, and miso soup and rice are free for seconds, so it's perfect for those who want to eat a lot! However, it can be crowded at lunchtime, so it takes 10 minutes or more to be served.

I felt like having some fish, so I went to a lively izakaya near my workplace. I don't know if it will be busy at night, but I was drawn by the sign that said "Grilled Silver Salmon" so I decided to go. Today might be an exception, but it was quite chaotic! The hall staff was handling everything alone during lunchtime - the dishes weren't being brought out, the tables weren't being cleared, so they couldn't seat the next customers. I visited "Okatteya Ichigaya" located a 3-minute walk from Ichigaya Station. I ordered a la carte items this time. Here is what I ordered (☆ indicates my favorite menu items): - Sashimi assortment for one person ¥500 - Deep-fried extra thick menma ¥440 - Board wasabi (blackthroat seaperch) ¥360 - Vegetable cheese chijimi (Korean pancake) ¥500 I also had a beer for ¥200. The appetizer was sushi, which was a nice surprise. The sashimi assortment for one person was a popular menu item and it was nice to have a single serving. The deep-fried extra thick menma was a bit softer than I expected, with a strong pepper seasoning. The board wasabi had a texture similar to fish cake, which was unexpected. The vegetable cheese chijimi had a strong cheese flavor, but the other flavors were not very distinct. It was a good deal to spend around ¥2000 for a meal here. In less than 100 hours left in 2021, the year has been filled with news related to COVID-19, and the days of not being able to go without a mask continue. Today is my last day at work, and for lunch, I decided to eat out near my workplace. I was intrigued by the display of various Japanese set meal menus on the street, with fried oysters at the top. I ordered the fried oyster set meal (900 yen) with extra rice. The restaurant was divided by partitions, and there were only a few customers, possibly because many had already finished work. The meal arrived in 5 minutes, with 3 fried oysters, sashimi (salmon?), a macaroni salad resembling fried potatoes, miso soup with fried tofu and seaweed, and pickles. The variety of dishes made me happy. The rice was delicious - soft, moist, and fragrant, probably made from new rice. The fried oysters were hot and tasty, although slightly less juicy with the sauce. The sashimi, likely salmon, was not very fatty and had a mild flavor. The macaroni salad was slightly firm, which I preferred. The initial deliciousness of the rice lingered in my mouth. I am grateful for this restaurant that offers seasonal ingredients at a reasonable price.

Okatteya Ichigaya store, first visit. A restaurant with delicious sashimi. I usually go to Okatteya Kudanshita, and the atmosphere, menu, and drink prices are a bit different. This time, I had some business in Ichigaya and decided to have a light drink, so unfortunately, it was just a casual evening drink. The appetizer was the usual 2 pieces of sushi. It's nice to have sushi as an appetizer when you're drinking, so I appreciated it. I had draft beer, cold sake, and enjoyed tuna brain sashimi, shirako with ponzu sauce, medium fatty tuna, and fatty tuna as my snacks. The tuna brain sashimi had a rich flavor and the soft texture was so delicious, making me think it went well with sake. The thick-cut fatty tuna and medium fatty tuna were also incredibly tasty, and I found myself wanting more as I left the restaurant. I usually have abalone sashimi, grilled fish collar, chicken pot rice, and clam pot rice here. It's great value for money and highly recommended. I'll definitely be back!

In the past, it used to be 270 yen for everything, but after the store was renovated and became a bit nicer, the prices went up a bit. I miss the days when you could drink sake like Hakkaisan and Koshino Kagemaru for 270 yen. And the sashimi, each piece used to be 270 yen. Since then, that has disappeared, but I went with my junior colleague for a one-hour showdown around 10 o'clock. Here, sushi is served as an appetizer. We quickly ate and ordered a draft beer. We also ordered some snacks and then finished. I probably will come back again.

From Ichigaya Station, just 2-3 minutes towards Arcadia Ichigaya, there is a big sign saying "Now open!" The restaurant is called "Uo Okatteya." The lunch menu is ¥690. I went down the stairs and sat at the counter. I ordered the simmered fish set meal with mackerel miso stew (served with cold tofu topped with mountain vegetables). The food came out quickly, just scooping rice onto the plate. The mackerel miso stew was generously sized and had a rich flavor. They offer free refills for rice and miso soup. Although there was a lack of vegetables, it was acceptable since refills were free. If you are lacking vegetables, you can always buy a vegetable juice at a convenience store.

This is a sushi izakaya where you can drink for a little over 2,000 yen per person. It is a reasonably priced izakaya with a focus on sashimi, and the food is delicious. They offer unique sashimi dishes like tuna throat. They also have private rooms available, and I think it's good value for the price.

Fried meat menu comes with sashimi and small dishes, and the miso soup is also delicious. I am very satisfied. On this day, I had oyster fry.

The seasoning is not great, but the prices are cheap! I can feel the effort of the company. I wonder what it's like at night.

I had dinner at an izakaya near Ichigaya Station and as I walked around the town, I noticed a familiar name of a restaurant I had seen before. It turned out to be part of the same chain as the one in Tsukiji, known for their traditional sushi. I ordered a small beer to start, but if they have a large size, I usually go for that as my second drink, even though it's double the price. They offer a bargain-priced dish called "Maguro no Nokogiri" for around 400 yen, which is a great deal. You can also enjoy high-quality tuna sashimi at a low price. I switched to a shochu highball and added some stir-fried bean sprouts and stewed beef tripe to my order. I always enjoy the variety of izakaya menus.
