"Stuti" means "thank you" in Sinhala. I visited a Sri Lankan tea specialty shop after learning about it from a certain video. The shop offers a dish called "Lamprais" (Sri Lankan curry wrapped in banana leaves). The shop is located about a 10-minute walk from Hanzomon Station, with young Sri Lankan and Japanese staff members. I ordered Lamprais and chai (Sri Lankan tea with two cookies) for a total of ¥1,761. The Lamprais was served hot in banana leaves, with basmati rice, chicken, fried eggplant, chili paste, dal curry, and pumpkin. The chili paste was not too spicy, and the meal had a moderate portion suitable for those with a smaller appetite or women. I also enjoyed Sri Lankan cookies with the chai. The shop also offers Sri Lankan-style hot sandwiches, toasts, cutlets, and Kiribath (yogurt with kitul honey). Additional items on the menu include pound cake and Sri Lankan tea.

I found a unique Sri Lankan cafe in a back alley in Ichigaya. They offer Sri Lankan black tea, sweets, and sandwiches with a Sri Lankan devil flavor, which is quite interesting. "Stutea" opened on March 14, 2022. The interior of the cafe has a concrete finish, resembling a cafe rather than a restaurant. Surprisingly, they had a dish called "Lump Rice" on the menu! Lump Rice is a Sri Lankan banana leaf-wrapped bento box that was influenced by the Dutch colonial period before it became a British colony. The aroma that fills the air when you open the banana leaf is amazing. The dish is made with Basmati rice and has a spicy paste called Lunumiris, giving it a strong spicy flavor. Despite the cafe-like interior, I thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Sri Lankan cuisine with a unique twist.

I had heard about a cafe where you can enjoy Sri Lankan tea, light meals, and curry a little ways down Yasukuni Street, and I was interested in checking it out. While strolling along the cherry blossom-lined street towards Kudanshita from Iidabashi, I suddenly remembered and decided to visit for a late lunch. - Hot Sandwich Curry Cutlet Set: A hot sandwich with curry and mashed potatoes paste, and cheese sandwiched between whole grain bread. Simple but to my liking. I opted for the Sri Lankan croquette on the side, which was freshly fried, hot, and slightly spicy. - Caramel Tea: There were three flavors of iced flavored tea, and I chose the caramel tea. It had a strong caramel flavor, even when iced. It was delicious. The interior of the cafe was not very spacious, and there was room for improvement in terms of table size and layout. It might be better to have slightly larger tables or have solo seats facing the wall. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

This is a Sri Lankan cuisine cafe located in the back streets of Ichigaya. The interior is simple and stylish with exposed concrete walls. While they mainly serve tea, they also offer curry. I was interested in trying the curry and baguette set, but unfortunately, the baguettes were sold out. So, I decided to order the Lamprais instead. It is a dish where curry, rice, and side dishes are wrapped in a banana leaf and baked. The Chicken curry, parippu, and eggplant moju in the Lamprais were all mixed together with a strong and authentic spice blend, making it delicious. The portion size is cafe-style, slightly smaller than average Lamprais, so if you have a big appetite, you might want to order an extra dish. They also have interesting light snacks like Devil's sandwich and cutlet-filled sandwiches, offering a different way to enjoy Sri Lankan cuisine compared to traditional restaurants.

Opposite Tokyo Kasei Gakuin University, there is a Sri Lankan cafe. Located near Ootemae Women's University, it seems like the target audience is college girls. They serve Sri Lankan curry and hot sandwiches, but today I tried a Lemon Cookie and Coconut Cookie paired with a Hot Chai Tea Latte for dessert. It was not too sweet and had a great flavor, tastier than I expected. Next time, I want to try the Lamprais wrapped in banana leaves.

On March 14, 2022, Stutea, a Sri Lankan tea specialty cafe, opened. The brand name "Stutti" comes from the Sinhala language, one of the official languages of Sri Lanka, meaning "thank you." It is combined with "Tea" in English, which means tea, to create the spelling. The cafe sells Sri Lankan tea leaves such as Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, and Dimbula. Sri Lanka is the number one importer of tea in Japan. Sri Lanka produces a variety of teas in seven regions, covering the characteristics of tea produced worldwide in one country. Stutea's tea is carefully selected, prepared, and served with attention to how it is chosen, made, and consumed. They are connected to tea plantations and tea factories in Sri Lanka, ensuring the best tea is provided according to the season. With years of experience, they aim to bring out the perfect balance of bitterness, sweetness, and smoothness in tea for Japanese consumers. The address is 3-3-2 Kudan Minami, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. I ordered a Hot Chai for 600 yen and added 2 cookies for an additional 40 yen. From November 1 to November 5, all drinks and 30% off tea products will be available in celebration of Tea Day on November 1. The Hot Chai is recommended for the cold season, with the spicy flavors of Sri Lankan spices like cardamom and cinnamon creating a subtly sweet and deep taste. The cookies available are Lemon, Coconut, and Ginger, popular snacks from Sri Lanka.

I knew about the newly opened place but couldn't go for a while. Finally, I went. It didn't seem crowded even though I always passed by. When we went, there was only one customer before us. I ordered the lamb rice and sandwich that I had been eyeing. It seems like they don't have a kitchen (they were probably heating up pre-made food in the microwave). The sandwich was gentle and tasty, and surprisingly big. The lamb rice was spicier and more flavorful than I imagined. We also ordered fried bananas and chai. The fried bananas had too thick of a batter, so it was just okay. The chai was a bit weak. It seems like a good place for a cafe visit. Even though there are universities like Ochanomizu and Japan Women's University nearby, not many people seem to come. It might be a bit pricey for students. I might not visit regularly, but I would like to drop by again. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant opened in a location that was previously seeking tenants on Niju-Nana Street, connecting Kudansaka to Ichigaya. The space on the first floor is quite nice, but the layout is narrow, so I wondered what it would become. I decided to try the "Lump Rice (1600 yen)", "Cutlets (320 yen)", and "Iced Ceylon Tea (+350 yen)" for lunch. The menu had a variety of tea options, Sri Lankan cookies, and homemade pound cakes, so it seemed like a café. The interior had a modern and clean design with concrete walls. The operation was handled by a Sri Lankan owner and a Japanese woman, and the service was fine. The Lump Rice had a spicy aroma and was served with saffron rice and three types of curry, which was decent but a bit dry. The Cutlets were small but delicious, especially when dipped in a sweet and spicy sauce. I also tried the pound cake, which was simple yet tasty. Overall, it's a unique café with potential, and I hope they succeed.

This is a specialty store for Sri Lankan tea located along Nana-nana Street in Ichigaya. I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The shop, which opened last month, has already received four reviews on Tabelog, up from just one last week. The shop is small, with about 10 seats, but it is tastefully designed. The owner is a trading company that exports Japanese machinery to Asia and decided to open this shop after starting to handle Sri Lankan tea (https://ichigaya.keizai.biz/headline/3262/). I ordered a chai (¥600 tax included), a Sri Lankan-style hot sandwich with spicy tuna and potatoes (¥600 tax included), and a spiced croquette called "Cutlets" with fried tuna, potatoes, and onions (¥352 tax included). We shared two of each with a friend. The amount was just right for a light meal between breakfast and dinner. The spiciness was not too strong, but the flavor of cardamom and ginger in the chai gave a hint of South Asia. Although it may be a bit pricey, it's a great place to spend a leisurely afternoon on a holiday.

I found out on Twitter that a tea shop specializing in Sri Lankan tea had opened, so I decided to go check it out. I went there thinking I would have either Ceylon milk tea or chai, but when I looked at the menu closely, I realized they also had light meals. Since it was not yet lunchtime, I saw they had hot sandwiches using Sri Lankan curry spices and tuna with potatoes, and the drink set was only 150 yen! Although I ended up choosing the black Ceylon tea in the set, I was happy with my choice. Well, first I tried the classic Ceylon tea straight. Hot sandwich 600 yen, set drink 150 yen. Furthermore, since it was their pre-opening day, I got a 100 yen discount! The interior of the shop had good sunlight, which was nice on that cold day. The drink arrived first, a simple Ceylon tea set drink that came with two Sri Lankan cookies. The hot sandwich was thin but tasty. Since it was just a light meal, it was a bit lacking on its own. They had pound cake and other items, so I might try those next time. But for now, I'll look forward to it! Next time, I want to try the chai. Thank you for the meal!

I found out that there is a Sri Lankan restaurant in Ichigaya, so I decided to go there. This time, I will take out the Lamprais. It's a bit far from Ichigaya Station. The interior of the restaurant has about five table seats, and the concrete-like interior is stylish. There was also Sri Lankan tea for sale at the entrance. The Lamprais costs 1500 yen. I will heat it up in the microwave, and when I open the banana leaf, there is a nice smell. Visually, there is a lot of brown color. But I love brown dishes. They mix it up for you. The meat is big, the spiciness is just right for me, and the rice is yellow. Everything was delicious.

I went to the tea shop Stutea with my friend. The interior of the shop is bright and open with large windows. I ordered a hot chai and a chicken devil sub. The chai was made by grinding spices, giving it an authentic taste similar to what you would find in Sri Lanka. It was the best chai I have ever had! My friend ordered a hot straight tea, which came with cookies. It was a great deal! We spent a warm and relaxing moment on our day off, enjoying delicious tea. Thank you for the meal!
