Mid-August 2023. Upon a recommendation from a friend, I visited Akiyoshi for the first time in a while. The branch here seems to be very popular as I couldn't make a reservation. When I arrived in the evening, there were a few empty seats but many items were sold out, marked with an X on the menu board at the entrance. I was seated at the counter since the servers rarely come to the table, and it was more convenient to order directly from the staff behind the counter. While I was ordering, a group ordered the remaining items, so I ordered a bit more in advance. They served the dishes at the right timing, which was impressive. We had: chicken tenderloin (395 yen), young chicken (415 yen), negima (420 yen), chicken thigh (440 yen), beef tongue (480 yen x2), tsukune (305 yen x2), shishito peppers (310 yen), shiitake mushrooms (310 yen), and red miso soup (195 yen). For drinks, we had: draft beer (520 yen x4), plum wine (395 yen), and Akiyoshi cold sake (670 yen). My friend usually orders junmai sake, but it was sold out, so we went with the classic options. The chicken thigh was my favorite! My friend stuck to beer, but I enjoyed starting with beer, then cold sake, and finishing with plum wine. The Akiyoshi cold sake was easy to drink and reasonably priced, definitely a must-order. There were groups in the tatami area and regulars at the counter, creating a lively atmosphere. The pricing was great at around 4,000 yen per person, making it a fantastic place to visit again.
