Akikichi in Fukui is a popular izakaya chain known for their grilled skewers of chicken, pork, and beef. The portions are small with each set consisting of five bite-sized skewers, served on a warm iron plate to keep them from getting cold. The atmosphere is lively and the staff are friendly, making it a great place for solo diners or groups. Prices are around 4000 yen per person for a satisfying meal with drinks. I will definitely be coming back again!

Mid-August 2023. Upon a recommendation from a friend, I visited Akiyoshi for the first time in a while. The branch here seems to be very popular as I couldn't make a reservation. When I arrived in the evening, there were a few empty seats but many items were sold out, marked with an X on the menu board at the entrance. I was seated at the counter since the servers rarely come to the table, and it was more convenient to order directly from the staff behind the counter. While I was ordering, a group ordered the remaining items, so I ordered a bit more in advance. They served the dishes at the right timing, which was impressive. We had: chicken tenderloin (395 yen), young chicken (415 yen), negima (420 yen), chicken thigh (440 yen), beef tongue (480 yen x2), tsukune (305 yen x2), shishito peppers (310 yen), shiitake mushrooms (310 yen), and red miso soup (195 yen). For drinks, we had: draft beer (520 yen x4), plum wine (395 yen), and Akiyoshi cold sake (670 yen). My friend usually orders junmai sake, but it was sold out, so we went with the classic options. The chicken thigh was my favorite! My friend stuck to beer, but I enjoyed starting with beer, then cold sake, and finishing with plum wine. The Akiyoshi cold sake was easy to drink and reasonably priced, definitely a must-order. There were groups in the tatami area and regulars at the counter, creating a lively atmosphere. The pricing was great at around 4,000 yen per person, making it a fantastic place to visit again.

This restaurant offers a unique style of serving compared to regular yakitori shops. Customers can only order a minimum of 5 skewers at a time, with each skewer being very small and bite-sized. The skewers are served on a warm counter and cooked over charcoal to ensure they stay hot. Each skewer costs around 80-100 yen, making it affordable to order a large quantity. The menu includes chicken, pork, beef, and a special type of parent bird called "Junketo" with a firm texture. There are also options like miso-grilled skewers and a delicious garlic and chili miso condiment provided at the counter. The restaurant is clean and offers a nice atmosphere.

The deliciousness of the food and the pleasantness of the staff make you feel at ease when entering. As it was my second "kushi" (skewer) restaurant visit, I started with vegetable skewers and then moved on to items like chicken skewers. Having yakitori or motsu (offal) before the chicken skewers really highlights the simplicity and deliciousness of the flavor. Additionally, the skewer tempura is very tasty and serves as a refreshing palate cleanser. While the onion skewers are always delicious, on this day, the lotus root skewers were also outstanding.

Junkai! It was quite late but the place was really crowded. There were also many items without any interesting stories! Anyway, I had 10 skewers at Junkai w It seems to be a yakitori chain in Fukui Prefecture. I've been curious about it for a while, but there are too many other places I want to visit around here, so I finally made it. Good value for money, I will definitely go back.

This is my first visit. I heard a rumor that one serving now includes 5 skewers. I thought having 5 skewers of the same item would be tough, but they are actually mini-sized. It feels a bit strange, haha. The skewers come with a plate to keep them from getting cold, which is pretty stylish. The drinks seem a bit pricey compared to the skewers, but overall, it's not bad. The prices range from 400 to 500 yen per plate, and before you know it, you end up going there quite often. You even find yourself calculating the cost per skewer. It's hard to tell if it's a good deal or not, which is the charm of this place. Well done.

I went there for the first time in a long time since my child was born. It was a family outing. The restaurant was lively from early hours and always crowded on weekends. The basic order is 5 skewers of yakitori, with small portions that you can easily eat. For kids, they have dashi chazuke! They eat a lot, even though the taste is not strong. The grilled rice balls are also recommended! The sour sauce that comes with the skewers of chicken liver or intestine is so delicious that you'll get addicted to it. The garlic miso is also tasty but can be a bit strong. The yakitori has a nice saltiness and is delicious. They have a hot plate to keep the food warm, which is unique to Akiyoshi. The alcohol is reasonably priced. The fried skewers are also delicious. It's a recommended restaurant for families. Thank you for the meal. I tend to order too much here, sorry for the lack of photos. I'll definitely come back again.

Accompanied by someone who had visited Akiyoshi in Osaka, I happened to come across this place in Ikebukuro. It was my first time visiting, and I was surprised by the system. Skewers are typically ordered in sets of 5, and when your order is ready, they place it on a warm plate for you. I ordered the recommended "junkai," a skewer with a satisfying texture that becomes addictive. It reminded me of the "oyadori" that I had on my meat soba in Yamagata. I initially thought a set of 5 skewers might be too much, but the small and addictive junkai was finished in no time. At only 67 yen per skewer, I also enjoyed munching on the cheap and crunchy cucumbers while adding more junkai. It was a delicious yakitori restaurant, although some items were sold out possibly due to the late hour.

I visited the restaurant around 7:30 pm on a regular day. It was full, so I wrote my name on the list and waited for about 20 minutes before being seated. The place was crowded with people of all ages and groups, including individuals and families. The menu had a limited selection of alcoholic drinks, but the prices were reasonable for a location near the station. They had large bottles of beer, which was nice. The main dishes were grilled and fried items, with a few other options available. Unfortunately, the hamburgers, Scotch eggs, bell peppers, and eringi mushrooms were sold out. The chicken skewers, which had a crunchy texture, were a popular choice and tasted delicious without any unpleasant smell. Each order came with five skewers, so it was easy to eat. The negima skewers had tasty meat, but the scallions were thin, so it's better to order extra scallion skewers if you like them. The chicken thigh meat and chicken tenderloin were cooked perfectly and had a delicious flavor. The shishito peppers were served with a tasty sauce that balanced out the bitterness. The grated radish was a small-sized and simple yet delicious appetizer. The spicy kimchi was well-soaked but had a mild kimchi flavor. Lastly, I tried the grilled rice balls, which had a light soy sauce flavor and were enjoyed with pickled vegetables. Each order of chicken skewers consisted of five skewers, but the portion was small, making it easy to eat. I liked some of the skewers so much that I ordered them multiple times, yet the bill was still reasonable. It's a casual and delicious restaurant where you can easily drop by.

Fukui is the base of this yakitori restaurant, but they have been expanding to Tokyo, Osaka, and other cities for a while. I was taken to the Kanda branch by a senior colleague, which was my first visit. They offer various types of skewers, fried skewers, and other attractive side dishes, but my favorite is the "junkai," which has a satisfying chewiness and a delicious flavor that spreads in your mouth as you chew. One day, while talking about something unrelated to Akiyoshi at a different restaurant, I heard that the Ikebukuro branch in Ikebukuro West Exit has hamburgers and scotch eggs. I couldn't stop thinking about it for a few days, so I naturally ended up going there. I think in many Akiyoshi branches, there are counter seats surrounding the kitchen area like a "C" shape, but in the Ikebukuro branch, it was exceptionally long and had a more "L" shape. I enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the kitchen and dining area while having my usual "junkai" as well as the delicious hamburgers and scotch eggs. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The opening hours are short, and it's always crowded when I go. It's mostly counter seats, which is convenient for two people. The staff are efficient and friendly! The yakitori is delicious, cooked over charcoal. It's served on a warm iron plate, so you don't have to worry about it getting cold. The skewers are small, so you can try a variety of flavors.

I'm in the mood for yakitori with my family, so we came here. I used to come here often, but it's been a while since I could go with my kids. The style here is where they serve the freshly grilled yakitori right in front of you. Everything is delicious. We ate until we were full. We will definitely come back.

The customer service was great. The staff were quick and efficient. It's very popular here. It was almost full on a weekday at 5:30 pm. We tried a variety of dishes. The sauce on the chicken hearts was delicious. The grilled rice balls were seasoned simply with salt, which was also good. However, both the yakitori and kushikatsu were on the smaller side. Easy to eat quickly but...

Whenever I go, Akikichi is always crowded and lively. I often use Ikebukuro, Ginza, and Shibuya. I like high-end yakitori, but I don't hesitate to choose Akikichi for this kind of izakaya yakitori. Although the prices have gone up a bit, I still think it's relatively cheap. Some people may have mixed feelings about the strong charcoal aroma, but I found it delicious. Thank you for the meal.

In 1987, during my first year of college, I lived in Ikebukuro and decided to visit a restaurant that was featured in a gourmet magazine. That was the beginning of my 35-year journey of regularly visiting various Tokyo locations of the same restaurant. I was so determined to eat the special dish called Junkei, cooked in a dedicated kiln at the Fukui Katamachi branch, that I even established a business relationship with a parts manufacturer in Fukui. When I was stationed abroad, I was worried about not being able to eat Junkei anymore, but thankfully I was able to return and continue my Junkei-filled life. I wonder how many more Junkei I can enjoy in the remaining years of my life...

When walking in Ikebukuro, I found a yakitori restaurant called Akiyoshi, and despite the spacious interior, the place was quite crowded with customers. I didn't know about this restaurant before, but later found out that it originated in Fukui and is a popular chain. On this day, I didn't have a reservation but managed to get a seat at the counter. The yakitori at this restaurant seems to be served in sets of 5 skewers, but they are small so you can eat them quickly. Eating 5 skewers quickly reminds me of Kamiya. I ordered a large bottle of beer (660 yen) and the following dishes: tongue (440 yen), negima (410 yen), chicken breast (410 yen), young chicken (395 yen), tsukune (2 skewers 290 yen), kushikatsu (390 yen), scotch egg (380 yen), lettuce salad (380 yen), grilled rice ball (350 yen). Among these, the most delicious were the signature dishes of the restaurant: chicken breast, young chicken, and grilled rice ball. The chicken breast has a crispy texture similar to bonjiri and is juicy. It's really delicious. The young chicken is mild but not dry, making it easy to eat. Finally, the grilled rice ball as a finale was not only crispy and fragrant but also had a unique flavor from being grilled with salt and dashi instead of the usual salt and soy sauce. I enjoyed these dishes with 5 glasses of oolong highball (418 yen each). I thought I wouldn't be able to eat much with just 5 skewers, but due to their small size and easy eating, I finished them quickly. While the individual dishes weren't too expensive, the total cost added up because I ate so easily, but I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

It had a solid and reliable impression like a simple and strong yakitori chain store. When I ordered a shochu soda, it was quite strong. The overall pace was good, the staff members were of various ages, and although it is a chain store, there are various characteristics, which I think is very good. You can enjoy delicious yakitori at a reasonable price in a non-smoking environment.

I want to eat yakitori. Asahi Super Dry has been renewed. I started with ordering a bottle of beer. Can you taste the difference? For the meal, the usual cabbage with mixed sauce yakitori, and I had Akai and Junkei. Without knowing the taste of the beer, I switched to lemon sour. I added pork belly skewers and green peppers to finish. Tonight, I am also satisfied and thank you for the meal.

My nail came off and I needed to find a salon to fix it. I found a salon in Ikebukuro that had great reviews. The service was very meticulous and the atmosphere of the salon was amazing. I was very satisfied with my nails and felt happy and excited. I thought about celebrating with a drink somewhere, but ended up at Akiyoshi. It was open from 4:00 PM on holidays, and I arrived at 4:04 PM. I was seated at the counter and ordered a lemon sour. I decided to order the liver, junkei, and petoro dishes. I also ordered some cabbage as a side dish. I realized I ordered too much food at once, but everything was delicious. I also enjoyed a glass of red wine with the Akiyoshi label on it. It was only 420 yen, and it paired perfectly with the food. I ended up feeling a bit tipsy and had a great time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This is Akikichi, a yakitori izakaya located on the west side of Ikebukuro Station. The yakitori at Akikichi is small but you can keep eating more and more. The tabletop grill in the middle keeps the skewers warm, which is quite handy. They also have it at the counter. So even fried foods can be eaten while still warm! It's quite appreciated on cold days. Come to think of it, it's been since I ate in Hokuriku. People in Hokuriku order a lot of food and eat a huge amount, it's impressive! By the way, the cucumber skewer I ordered as a palate cleanser was surprisingly refreshing. Tomatoes and other garnishes are beautifully arranged, which is nice. It's reliable and good value for money.
