The ice cream-like sweets sign stands out prominently. This is the Market Place on the 3rd floor of Haneda Airport Terminal 2. In addition to a variety of take-out sweets, Pierre Hermé also offers eat-in options, which can be easily seen from outside. After leaving the soba noodle shop, I received an email while buying some sweets to take with me in front of the security gate on the 2nd floor. The flight was cancelled. It seems quite rare for the flight to Hachijo Island to be cancelled due to snow. Later, I asked a friend who lives there, and apparently, it has been decades since it last snowed on Hachijo Island. However, with a change of job and the pandemic, it had been a long time since I had been on a plane, and I was surprised at how convenient it has become! The evolution is astonishing. Of course, no one wants infectious diseases, and many people have passed away or had their lives changed. But, I realized that businesses evolve according to the situation. Since the flight was cancelled, I had no choice but to return home dejectedly, so I decided to come in here out of frustration. Although it looked like ice cream, this is soft serve. There are four flavors: vanilla, matcha, chocolate, and mango. It costs 825 yen including tax. Feeling thirsty, I also ordered an iced coffee and went to the eat-in area. I had confused it with Pierre Marcolini, but this is Pierre Hermé. I don't know why the logo is in katakana. There are many delicious sweets sold at Haneda Airport, but surprisingly few places to eat in. I chose chocolate. I usually go for matcha, but if it's a French (probably) dessert, I'll go with chocolate. The red one that I mistook for strawberry is a macaron. The white around it is meringue. The meringue is a bit too much... but the chocolate is rich yet not too sweet, and the macaron is delicious. Surprisingly, the coffee is also delicious. Well, the cancellation is disappointing, but it's not work-related, so I'm taking it easy, and I'm sure I'll look back on this with fond memories someday. I wasted my time, got some sugar, and returned home.
