"Cult film director Shojin Fukui's shop has a catchphrase that suggests getting lost in smoke-filled discussions about movies among regulars. However, that concern was unnecessary! The shop, called TV BAR Kemuri, plays rock music and movies. The owner and the assistant speak in refined Kansai dialect. The atmosphere inside the shop is calm and filled with young customers who want to relax. Plus, we received a delicious gift of Japanese pears from the regular customers of this shop! Items we tried: Assorted oden (egg, daikon radish, thick fried tofu, konjac, and fried tofu skins) for 100 yen each, Saba Doria for 700 yen, two highballs, and a shochu highball. When you mention 'oden at the bar,' many places just open a pack and warm it up, but at this shop, you can order individual oden ingredients separately, which is great! The daikon radish had an elegant Kansai-style seasoning, with a crisp texture and a refreshing aroma and sweetness of the radish. The recommended Saba Doria by the regular customer next to us had a pleasant aroma and rich flavor of mackerel miso. When the assistant recommended adding Mexican hot sauce, it transformed the mackerel miso into a salsa-like punch suitable for a late-night meal. This wild and delicious flavor is something you won't find in Western-style restaurants or cafes. Highly recommended!"
