Not a happy hour, but a May limited-time campaign. Since it opened about 10 years ago on 5/7, it's always a good deal during this time. There used to be no time limit, but now it's a 2-hour limit, which is still cheap and enjoyable. You're not rushed out after 2 hours, just pay the regular price, so you can stay longer if you want. The classic dishes like rolled omelet and fried noodles are delicious, and other options are good too. Highballs are usually 99 yen, so it's already cheap, but now even cheaper. You can have 10 drinks for only 390 yen. You need to order 2 dishes per person for food.

The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a building near Shin-Ochanomizu Station. The name of the restaurant is "Kukku," which is pronounced as "kuku." Upon entering the restaurant, payment is required in cash upfront. I ordered the "Saba no Bunka Hoshi Teishoku" for 800 yen. I was curious about what "Bunka Hoshi" means, so I looked it up. It turns out that the term originated from a store called "Tokyo Senin Shoten." Originally, "Bunka Hoshi" referred to the packaging method rather than the drying method. In 1950, when Tokyo Senin Shoten was founded, they wrapped dried fish in cellophane for sale, and the packaging was considered innovative and culturally significant, hence the name "Bunka Hoshi." Nowadays, it refers to the drying method, specifically using a cold air drying machine instead of sun drying. The Saba Bunka Hoshi served at the restaurant was large and juicy, with a satisfying texture. However, the restaurant allowed smoking, and I found it uncomfortable as a non-smoker. The experience of enjoying the delicious Saba Bunka Hoshi was slightly overshadowed by the smoke. The restaurant was a smoker's paradise but not ideal for non-smokers like me!

I found this restaurant while looking for a place where smoking is allowed because there are fewer places where you can smoke now. The staff seemed to be working alone, probably because of the current situation. The menu had Hokkaido-style dishes like ramen, salad, and hokke, all of which were delicious and reasonably priced. They also sell bottles of shochu. I have a feeling I will visit this cozy place again. It's a great place to relax and unwind.

It is a little hidden gem of a restaurant located inside a mixed-use building that I visited at 2 PM on a regular day (although it's not fancy, haha). I ordered the ginger pork set meal, and it arrived in about 7 minutes. The taste was average, but the portion size was satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

The fried oyster set meal costs 850 yen, and you can add one more oyster for 50 yen each. I added two more for a total of 950 yen. Personally, I wish the oysters were fried a bit more and there was more cabbage. However, it's rare to find a set meal with four oysters, so being able to add one more for 50 yen each is amazing. I would rate it 3.5 out of 5. Also, I appreciate the fact that they provide a cloth hand towel.

I visited around 1 pm on Saturday to celebrate the 1st anniversary, and had the "Crab Delight Donburi Set Meal" for 800 yen. I was tempted to have a lunch beer for 290 yen, but ended up choosing the anniversary special. The area is known for its curry, but this place stood out with its relatively affordable lunch at 700 yen. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a complex building, making it a bit hard to find. It was quiet with no other customers on a Saturday, and the staff was very polite and energetic. The crab in the donburi was slightly sweet, and the crab miso added a nice touch. It was a good place to enjoy a peaceful Saturday lunch.

I finally visited a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. It was just after 11:00 am when they opened. The sign said 3F, so I went up the stairs. After climbing about half a floor, I found the stairs closed off. I realized there was an elevator here. This must be the 1st floor. I took the elevator to the 3rd floor. As soon as I got off, I was at the entrance. There was one customer ahead of me. I paid first at the counter where they had a menu with pictures. Lunch seemed to be a flat rate of 700 yen. I chose the Saury marinated in miso. I was told I could sit anywhere, so I chose a bright seat by the window. After a short wait, my meal arrived. It included a slightly large piece of Saury, a small amount of grated radish, and a side dish of tofu and lightly pickled cabbage. It also came with rice and miso soup. I started with the miso soup, which was flavorful. Then I tried the Saury, which had a nice miso flavor. The rice was delicious too. All of this for 700 yen. Great value for money. Thank you for the meal.

No matter what you choose, it's 700 yen? This restaurant opened in May 2018. The seafood bowl set is also 700 yen, and you can enjoy changing the taste with dashi to make ochazuke halfway through! It's a very good deal for lunch. The evening menu doesn't seem too expensive and looks delicious. I'd like to come back for dinner sometime.

JR Ochanomizu Station, Seibashi exit, head south on Hongo Street, then turn west at the Surugadai intersection. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a building. It opened in 2018 and is an izakaya. You can spot the restaurant by the street sign outside. Inside, the bright and spacious dining area has table seating and a counter facing the kitchen. The staff, mostly young men, are friendly. Despite being on the 3rd floor of a building, the location is popular among salarymen and working-class men. The lunch menu is all priced at 700 yen, and payment is made upfront. Menu items include grilled fish, seafood bowls, ginger pork, and somen noodles. Rice refills are complimentary. The seasonal saury is a popular choice, especially this year with the abundant catch. The "saury miso set meal" features plumply cooked mackerel with a miso-based seasoning that goes well with rice. The service is good, and the restaurant offers tasty dishes at affordable prices.

The 8-item Japanese set meal for 700 yen was like a housewife's lunch where she just takes out whatever is in the refrigerator and eats it without cooking. It was a bit surprising... I think I can only spend up to 500 yen on this. I will try other menu items as well.
