[Overall Review]
- A branch of Omatsusushi, which was located in Shibuya. Established in 1952.
- Operating near Todoroki University since the year of the Tokyo Olympics, 1964. A long-standing establishment with over half a century of history in the area.
- The previous location was along Meguro Street. There was a related Japanese cuisine restaurant called Matsuriki in the area. The old location was forced to relocate due to redevelopment near the station, leading to a change in cuisine and relocation.
- Mainly frequented by local regular customers. The entrance may seem a bit high at first glance.
- If you want to truly appreciate this restaurant, trying their evening menu is recommended.
[Visit Record]
- Visit Date: April 30, 2017, around 13:30.
- Location: The nearest station is Todoroki University. Almost perpendicular to the Toyoko Line, cross Meguro Street at the intersection in front of Todoroki University Station, about 30m ahead on the right. Convenient location.
- Shop Situation, etc.
- Less than 10 seats at the counter on the 1st floor. Only table seats on the 2nd floor. Capacity is about 20 people maximum.
- The head chef seems to be standing at the counter. One male and one female staff member take orders, serve, and handle payments.
- There were 5 customers who seemed like regulars. It appeared to be for the evening menu at the counter.
- The counter is mainly for regular customers using the evening menu. Lunch set customers are not allowed to use the counter and were directed to the table seats on the 2nd floor. The service was a bit cold. The atmosphere was mediocre.
[Dishes Tried]
- Nigiri set for lunch (Rating: 3.2 stars) for 1,000 yen.
- Contents: Tuna red meat, mackerel, kisu (sillago), cockle, white fish gunkan, flying fish roe gunkan, oshinko roll, kappa roll, and tamago (egg). The quality of the sushi at night in the old location was much better. Lunch sets at sushi restaurants are generally seen as a stepping stone to evening visits (good lunch sets can lead to evening visits). However, it seemed like this place lacked the eagerness in their lunch set. Honestly, with this content, it may be difficult to attract customers for an evening visit. As a long-standing establishment near Todoroki University, I hope they continue their business, but in order to do so, they may need to lower the threshold for new customers and make efforts to bridge the gap between the restaurant and customers. I believe the true value of this restaurant can be understood through an evening visit, so if there is an opportunity, I would like to revisit in the evening.
