The 13th installment of the izakaya tour near my workplace is this place, known for its abundant selection of sake and use of carefully selected ingredients sourced directly from producers. Upon searching, I found that there are also branches with the same name in Kamiyama and Ebisu, though it is unclear if they are affiliated. The original restaurant I planned to visit unexpectedly closed down. The second choice I had bookmarked was only open from 6 pm, so I finally made my way to this place, my third option. This place also opens at 6 pm, but despite my mistaken assumption that takeout was available from 5 pm, they graciously allowed me to dine in. The restaurant is located a short walk from Sangenjaya along Tamagawa-dori. I arrived at 5:40 pm. The manager was busy preparing, and I was seated in a separate room on the right. I started with a glass of draft beer (Black Label) for 690 yen. The appetizer was 550 yen. My order was as follows, all prices include tax: Chef's selection of 9 dishes - 3,000 yen. The dishes were arranged in 9 sections, each with a small appetizer. There were mackerel, lean tuna, vinegar-marinated octopus, seasoned bamboo shoots, smoked pork, and more, perfect for pairing with sake. Dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette) - 600 yen. Moist and flavorful. Shiitake mushroom stuffed with minced meat steak - 880 yen. The meat juices combined with soy sauce and shiitake mushroom flavors, unexpectedly delicious. In between, I kept ordering more sake. Assorted chicken liver and gizzard - 1,000 yen. The rare-cooked liver and gizzard retained a unique texture. The creamy liver and crunchy gizzard were a fresh combination. Seasonal luxury assortment - 2,200 yen. Uni, salmon roe, mullet roe, and crab with crab miso dressing, a sinful dish. Despite being mindful of my high uric acid levels, I couldn't resist indulging in sake alongside these delicacies. What was planned as a 2-hour visit ended up being a 3-hour stay. I let loose with the delicious food and had quite a bit of sake. As a result, the bill was quite substantial. I regret not opting for a set course. While the dishes were a bit pricey, they were delicious, and I got to enjoy a wide selection of sake, so let's consider it a positive experience. The staff's service was also excellent. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
