We visited this restaurant for a family dinner on the weekend. There were several families already inside, indicating that it is a popular spot for families in the neighborhood. They offer a kids' menu with a combination of meatballs and rice, and kids get a free soft drink – a great deal! Even though many of the yakitori items were sold out due to the holiday weekend, they have a good selection of side dishes, making it possible to enjoy snacks and drinks like at an izakaya. The fact that they have happy hour until 7 pm every day was also a nice bonus!

Well, it's just a normal yakitori restaurant. The taste is nothing special, and the yakitori is a bit overcooked. The side dishes are not that great either. So, I think you can go anywhere else for better yakitori.

We recently visited "Yakitoriya Sumire," a new restaurant that opened in Hatagaya, with our usual group. There is actually a yakitori restaurant in Hatagaya that we often go to, but it's always crowded and I can't really write a review about it even though I think it's delicious. So, we were happy to find a new restaurant that opened as a backup for when we can't get into our usual spot. However, the boss didn't seem to like it very much. I believe that the key to delicious yakitori lies in the perfect balance of seasoning and cooking, and it seems that the skilled chefs at our usual spot are hard to beat. Personally, I thought the yakitori at Sumire was not bad at all and I secretly want to visit again when we can't get into our usual spot. The chain restaurant raises free-range chickens in Oyama, Tottori Prefecture, using special feed, and I liked their focus on quality ingredients and variety of menu options. They have close to 40 stores in Tokyo, around 12 stores in Kanagawa, and only 4 stores in Saitama including Urawa, Shiki, and Tokorozawa. New restaurants may struggle with inexperienced staff and operations, but with time, they should improve. It's been almost two months since I visited, and I imagine things have settled down and operations have improved. I stayed home all day today because of the typhoon, which made me remember to write this review. When you stay home all day, you end up just snacking all day and not feeling like eating a proper meal. Maybe I'll end up losing weight from not going out and just snacking all day ( ̄∇ ̄)

Ordered yakitori and it took 40 minutes to come out. It took a total of 1 hour for everything to arrive. The yakitori was lukewarm, the salt skewers had no flavor, and the sauce skewers were watery. This yakitori restaurant is not up to standard. Furthermore, the rice was mushy. They have a child-friendly atmosphere, but the slow service causes kids to get bored and start playing, so I do not recommend it.

The volume was generous and good. I had an assorted 3-piece set (salt flavor), deep-fried chicken from Oyama, and chewy bracken rice cake.

I went around 9:30 pm on Friday night. There were various types of yakitori and all of them were delicious. The dressing on the shredded cabbage salad was good.

I discovered the Sumire yakitori chain in Hatagaya. They had a takeout special of 3 yakitori skewers for 500 yen. I got the tsukune, negima, and hinatoro. The hinatoro is a specialty of Sumire and it was really delicious with its juicy and fatty texture. The tsukune was quite large but the grilling was a bit too strong, making it lose some of its juiciness. The negima had burnt green onions and the surface of the chicken thigh was a bit tough, indicating some grilling issues. The tsukune didn't have cartilage, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the hinatoro was the standout with its great texture and flavor.
