Today, I had dinner at "Japanese Cuisine Fuji" located on the basement floor of Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya. The hotel was quite lively with banquet guests, but this restaurant was quiet and allowed for a leisurely meal. I ordered the "Fuji Gozen" set meal (tax included 3,300 yen), which included tempura and sashimi, providing a satisfying portion. In addition, I also ordered the collaboration product with the Matsushima Air Base, the "Nori Kusage" (tax included 1,000 yen). The sashimi of tuna and sweet shrimp were of high quality with a delicious sweetness. The tempura was voluminous, and the large shrimp had a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The Nori Kusage had a crispy texture with a juicy finish, enhanced by the seaweed. The atmosphere was calm and perfect for a quiet meal. There are other restaurants within the hotel, so I would like to try different places next time.

I ordered the "Tuna and Seasonal Fish Seafood Bowl" for 1630 yen including tax. The meal came with a choice of hot coffee, oolong tea, or orange juice as a drink option. The bowl included tuna, yellowtail, sea bream, shrimp, scallop, salmon roe, squid, and egg. There were 2 pieces each of yellowtail and sea bream, and about 5 pieces of tuna. I felt the price was a bit high, but considering it was from a hotel restaurant, it seemed reasonable. For more details about my visit, please check out my blog. On a holiday lunch outing towards Yotsuya, I was drawn to the menu photos in front of Grand Hill Ichigaya and decided to dine at "Nihon Ryori Fuji". The weekly special set menu caught my eye, featuring Hokkai Donburi (salmon and salmon roe rice bowl), white fish miso soup, and side dishes for 1,300 yen. The salmon, salmon roe, and shrimp on the Hokkai Donburi looked delicious, so I decided to give it a try. "Nihon Ryori Fuji" is a Japanese restaurant located in the basement of Grand Hill Ichigaya, with a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. I visited just before 12 p.m. on a Saturday, and although Grand Hill Ichigaya is usually quiet, this restaurant was surprisingly 80% full and bustling. Upon entering, I was recommended to disinfect my hands, given a plastic bag for my mask, and escorted to my table. The restaurant was arranged with social distancing in mind, with tables clearly marked for seating and belongings. Each table was provided with disposable towels, likely a change from the usual cloth towels due to COVID-19 precautions. I was shown the menu, and I decided to order the daily special set menu as advertised. The set arrived with the Hokkai Donburi, miso soup, and side dishes. The Hokkai Donburi featured salmon, salmon roe, shrimp, scallops, and tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) on sushi rice. The salmon was thickly sliced and the salmon roe was plentiful, providing a satisfying meal. The side dishes included imitation crab meat, taro, simmered vegetables, and a flavorful miso soup with plenty of fish. The dishes were meticulously prepared and delicious. The attentive service from the well-staffed restaurant made for a pleasant dining experience. The daily special set menu offered great value for the quality of food and service provided. I saw enticing lunch menu posters outside the hotel along Yasukuni Street, and I look forward to returning to try more of their offerings in the future.

Originally, there were few dining options around Ichigaya, especially on the outer moat side near Ichigaya Tamachi. The restaurant at Grand Hill Ichigaya, which used to be a Self-Defense Forces accommodation facility, was a valuable find. Their lunch menu is a great deal, especially the daily specials. For around 1000 yen, you can enjoy a delicious set meal, but they tend to sell out quickly. It's best to go before 12 o'clock.

I had a meal with my mentor after a long time. We arrived in a hurry due to lack of time, but the service was excellent and we had a pleasant time. The sashimi and tempura were delicious, although we left a little unfinished due to our lively conversation.

The third installment of the mutual aid association restaurant tour takes us to the Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya, located across the moat from JR Ichigaya Station. This large hotel complex includes a wedding venue and banquet facilities, offering both Western and Japanese cuisine as well as a café in the main building (East Wing) and several dining options in the annex building (West Wing). Despite its central location, the prices are reasonable. One of the restaurants, "Fuji," serves lunch and even offers kaiseki cuisine for dinner. The lunch menu includes a variety of set meals starting from 1030 yen, with options ranging from traditional Japanese dishes to dishes like pork cutlet set meals. The restaurant also offers dishes like katsudon, oyakodon, and soba/udon, although these may not be listed on the website. The "Monthly Colorful Bento Box" for lunch, priced at 2060 yen (tax included), offers a variety of dishes including sashimi, grilled mackerel in miso sauce, simmered vegetables, and tempura. The quality of the food is decent for the price, although the tempura may lack variety due to cost constraints. The restaurant's interior has a traditional feel, with mostly 4-person and 6-person tables and limited 2-person tables. The atmosphere could be improved with warmer tones and more decorative elements. Overall, the restaurant at the Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya offers a good dining experience with reasonable prices and the added benefit of free parking for up to 2 hours.

I came to Ichigaya for work and during lunchtime, I went out to Ohori Street and looked around the station area, but there didn't seem to be any standout restaurants. Instead, as lunchtime approached, there were lines forming at places like Nichi-Hiya and Fuji Soba in front of the station, as well as at food trucks selling bento boxes. Normally, I would search on Tabelog for a place to eat, but today I don't have much time, so I want to eat somewhere nearby. I looked up and saw Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya, so I decided to go in. I chose this restaurant on the basement floor from the lunch menu options displayed on the floor. I ordered the recommended seasonal limited-time "February Colorful Gozen" for 1800 yen, which includes various dishes such as small plates, grilled dishes, simmered dishes, fried dishes, rice with boiled whitebait, soup, pickles, dessert, and a drink. Each dish like sashimi or grilled dish didn't stand out, but the variety of dishes made up for it. They also have lunch sets for around 1000 yen, which seemed to be popular with many customers. By the time I left, I saw customers waiting in line. It's a good restaurant in a hotel where you can feel like you're at a casual diner.

I wanted to eat Japanese food in a relaxed atmosphere so I went to Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya near Ichigaya. The restaurant Fuji is located on the basement floor. I arrived around 12:30 and it was already full. I waited for about 5 minutes and then a table opened up. The customers were mostly business people. I ordered the November monthly bento for 1500 yen and the weekly set meal for 1000 yen. The weekly set meal for that day was deep-fried matsutake mushrooms and young chicken with dashi tofu. The monthly bento included sashimi, soba, tempura, grilled dish, mixed rice, soup, dessert, and a drink. It was a generous portion for a very reasonable price. Everything was delicately seasoned, especially the soba had a nice texture and was delicious. The weekly set meal also came with three small side dishes like sashimi, rice, soup, and a drink. For only 1000 yen, it was a great deal. The servers were dressed in kimonos and created a traditional Japanese restaurant atmosphere. It was nice to be able to eat slowly without feeling rushed.

Lunch exploration near Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya Part 3. On this day, I made my first visit to the Japanese-style restaurant "Fuji" on the basement floor of the hotel. Despite being directly connected to the hotel, the lunch prices start from 900 yen, which is surprisingly affordable. Among the classic menu items such as tempura and sashimi set meals, I decided to try the "Japanese-style hamburger set meal" (950 yen) for some reason. The female staff in the dining area were all dressed in kimono, with at least three of them that I noticed. Compared to family restaurants that operate with minimal staff, this place felt relaxed and elegant. The hamburger was served with a generous amount of salad on a single plate. While Japanese-style hamburgers typically come with a ponzu sauce, this one had a sesame-flavored sauce. The meal also included a side dish, pickles, miso soup, and a choice of coffee, oolong tea, or orange juice for a post-meal drink. The hamburger may have been made with a binder, but it was decent. What caught my attention more was one of the two people who sat next to me during the meal was a serious-looking Ministry of Defense employee in uniform, which got me a bit excited! They were discussing serious work-related matters, which was reassuring. Keep up the good work in Japan's national defense! It seems that this hotel, due to its location, has a good relationship with the Ministry of Defense.

I went to a Japanese restaurant located in the basement of a hotel after heading towards the Ministry of Defense from Ichigaya Station. The kaiseki course was delightful from the appetizers to the end. We enjoyed sashimi (tuna, shrimp), grilled fish (Spanish mackerel teriyaki), simmered dish (turnip and round fish ball), tempura (shrimp, vegetables), and more, finishing with soba noodles. Throughout the meal, we drank "Sawanoi," a sake from the only brewery in Tokyo, chilled and it was so easy to drink that we ended up consuming more than two 720ml bottles. I got completely tipsy in broad daylight. The food was delicious and the sake was delightful.

I sometimes use this hotel because it has spacious rooms instead of unit baths. During dinner time, I didn't feel like going outside, but I also didn't feel like having a convenience store bento. So, I decided to have my meal inside the hotel. I initially thought about having a Western-style meal, but there seemed to be a lively group, so I decided to go for Japanese cuisine instead, thinking it would be quieter. As I was dining alone, I requested a table for two, but the staff recommended a four-person table, saying "Please use the spacious area comfortably." Even such small gestures can be quite pleasing. Initially, I planned on having a set meal and a glass of draft beer, but then I noticed they had a local sake tasting set available! I chose three kinds of sake from Hokuriku and Koshinetsu regions - Hakkaisan, Masumi, and I was contemplating on TATEYAMA but was told it wasn't available that day. So, I chose Manzuru from Fukui instead. This led me to wonder about the "Today's Special" menu. I decided on the spring vegetable and young ayu tempura with a side of Wakatakeni. As an appetizer, I requested octopus and miso soup. And of course, I had to finish my meal with soba. Indulging in a luxurious meal alone. The Wakatakeni had a strong dashi flavor, the bamboo shoots were crunchy, and the seaweed was firm, which paired well with Masumi. The octopus and miso soup went well with Manzuru. The tempura with Hakkaisan was delicious, especially the bitterness of the butterbur sprouts. I couldn't find the young ayu, but oh well, I'm satisfied with just the vegetables. The staff even commented, "It's a very spring-like table you have." When I mentioned that I struggled to choose dishes that would complement the sake lineup, they chuckled. Everyone here seems to be very nice. They even served me mineral water. It's a proper hotel with a wedding venue (I think it belongs to the Defense Ministry's mutual aid association), so the food is well-prepared. It feels like you can't go wrong with their dishes. It's easy to go back to your room, and having a meal inside the hotel is convenient when you're alone. However, I can't deny that I ended up spending more money than I intended (laughs). It was a good place for a woman to enjoy drinking alone.
