There are many ramen and soba shops, but I think there are few pasta specialty restaurants. Personally, I like pasta specialty restaurants because I can relax and it's easy for a woman to enter alone, so even if it's over 1000 yen, I feel like using it. In the area near Shinjuku East Exit to Sanchome, where various restaurants are crowded, there are surprisingly few places where you can enter alone, and the streets are also cluttered, so if you don't enter immediately, you might end up thinking, "Where was that again?" Pasta Mama is exactly such a place. Oh, there are pasta menus displayed outside, so it's easy to order, and it feels light-hearted. When you enter the store, the interior is surprisingly spacious with a deep depth, giving a cave-like feeling. There are also some secluded seats, but the basic seating is open. By the way, at the time I visited, both the staff and the customers were very young. I felt like I was in a larger version of an Italian mama's place. Maybe it's just me. Since there is no bell, you have to raise your hand or call out, but well... whether they are not looking, busy, or busy chatting... well, they are young, so it's understandable, I scold myself. Lunch is available until 4 pm, which is convenient, and even if it overlaps with dinner time, it's very helpful that you can order just pasta. There are over 15 types of pasta such as cream, oil, tomato, and original, priced around 1000 yen. Large servings are free, and it comes with a drink and salad. The best part is that you can add toppings for 100-150 yen. I ordered mushroom topping on my spicy spaghetti with zucchini and eggplant. It seems to be smoking allowed, and smoke comes from all directions. That's unavoidable. I ordered coffee after the meal, and first came the salad. It's bite-sized but refreshing and delicious. The pasta had a rich tomato flavor with chunks of eggplant and mushrooms. However, the noodles were a bit softer and mushier than expected, giving a feeling of pasta that has been overcooked at home. Well, when it gets busy, even if the kitchen cooks the noodles properly, if the waitstaff is overwhelmed, it can end up like that, I guess. The price goes over 1000 yen when you add toppings, which was a bit of a downside. It would have been fine if it was really cheap. Even though it was close to 4 pm, many people were still being seated, and the large space makes it comfortable to stay. It's recommended for when you want to casually eat pasta.
