Today's lunch was at "Oyatsu-ya Takesaku" in Adachi-ku, Ogi. I had been wanting to come here for a while, and my wish finally came true with my first visit. The lunch set (850 yen) allows you to choose between seafood or meat, and today I chose Mapo Eggplant. When asked about the rice portion, I confidently said "extra large!" They warned me that it would be a lot, but I said I could handle it. When the tray arrived, the amount of rice was seriously huge. But what was even more impressive was the variety of side dishes! Mapo Eggplant, boiled spinach, hamburger, dried daikon radish, seaweed vinegar, egg and cabbage salad, shiitake mushrooms with chili oil and garlic, cucumber and eggplant pickles, miso soup with daikon and fried tofu, yogurt, and the huge portion of rice. Excluding the rice, there were 10 items! Oh, and you also get a drink. The seasoning of each dish was not uniform, tailored to suit each dish and ingredient, so you won't get tired of the flavors. Each dish was carefully prepared with love and attention. Maybe it's because it's new rice, but the rice was also delicious! I was so satisfied with all the side dishes that I wished I had more of the huge portion of rice. When it came time to pay, they gave me a Black Thunder and Sakuma-style drops. Oh, maybe because they used to be a candy store. I appreciate these small gestures of kindness. At night, only families are allowed to dine here as they want families to feel comfortable, but men are welcome for lunch, so I will definitely visit again. So far, this is my favorite restaurant I've discovered this year!
