I was a bit curious about this restaurant, so I decided to go in. The first floor had a counter with seating for about 5 people, and the rest were 2-4 person table seats. I didn't check, but it seems like there is more seating on the second floor. I was seated at the counter right in front of where they were grilling the yakitori, and it seemed like there was only the owner of the restaurant and a male part-time staff member serving. I ordered yakitori (gizzards, liver, tsukune) and chicken shiratama ramen. First, a vegetable salad (medium size salad bowl) arrived as an appetizer (for two people). It's rare to have a vegetable salad as an appetizer, right? It was a green salad with roughly chopped leaves and crispy fried dumpling skin on top, and the dressing was delicious so I was satisfied. The gizzards, liver, and tsukune that I ordered arrived next. The yakitori was all tender and delicious! Especially the liver was of high quality, so even people who don't like liver might enjoy it! The chicken shiratama ramen that I ordered was taking quite a while to arrive... The taste was quite delicious, almost on par with a ramen shop! However, the long wait after ordering was very disappointing.

When you exit Sengawa Station and continue straight to the right, you will find a restaurant called Ramen Jiro and Majo no Curry. There is an izakaya or yakitori restaurant nearby that has a wooden interior design, giving it a clean and beautiful impression for an izakaya. I had been curious about it for a while and finally decided to check it out. It is a two-story building and I was seated on the second floor. I visited around 9 pm on a weekday, and it was not exactly crowded, rather on the quieter side. First, a simple dish of cabbage and cucumber was served as a complimentary appetizer. It was just roughly cut and not seasoned at all. Then, I ordered some yakitori skewers. They took forever to arrive. And they kept taking forever. Seriously, where are they? The taste of the skewers was decent, but the wait was unacceptable. There was no apology for the delay, even though the place wasn't that busy. The atmosphere and taste were good enough for a return visit, but the slow service left a bad impression.

After drinking at two places in Shimokitazawa, we decided to visit a newly opened yakitori restaurant along the train tracks. The line was long and the place is known for dishes like Witch's Curry and Ramen Jiro, with its main store in Chofu. We sat at the counter right in front of the grilling area where the heat didn't bother us. The manager proudly explained that the bricks were the secret to this. I ordered a Rooibos Highball for 450 yen, while my wife got a Grapefruit Highball for 500 yen. We also ordered two pieces of Seseri for 150 yen each with salt, and two pieces of chicken liver for 150 yen each with sauce. The place was small with four staff members and seating on the second floor, where orders were taken via internal phone. A waitress brought us a complimentary appetizer of cabbage, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes with miso. There were rumors that the owner was difficult to please, and indeed, he had a strong presence with a big stature and bright eyes. When I asked if I could take a photo, he jokingly said it was okay for anyone else but me, which made him laugh. It seems that they were very busy when they first opened. The yakitori was decent in taste, and I hope they aim to reach the level of Toritake or Torimasu. The total bill was 1,950 yen. Thank you for the meal!

The specialty liver dish was incredibly delicious and moist, unlike any I've had before. After tasting this, I don't think I can go back to cheap, dry liver again. I believe the slow charcoal grilling is what gives it such a high-quality taste.
