I have used this restaurant many times. The shop has been renovated and the food seems to have become more delicious. Prices used to be a bit high, but most of the seafood bowls are now priced at 680 yen, which is helpful. I also often use their takeout service. It would be nice if they had a little more variety of seafood bowls.

I ordered the daily special bowl because it allows you to enjoy various types of fish, but unfortunately, it only had cheap quality fish like cut-offs that you can find at a supermarket. The taste was so-so, edible but not impressive. It was disappointing, similar to the cost performance of the T University Co-op. Tears.

A popular seafood rice bowl restaurant among students. They recently started offering set meals as well. Even though it is a chain restaurant, I am always satisfied after eating here. The Akamon Mountain Bowl costs 780 yen. It includes slices of fish, octopus, small clams, and fish flakes with a slightly sweet sauce, providing a variety of flavors and a generous portion. Very satisfying.

As expected, being right in front of the iconic red gate of the University of Tokyo, there were many young students around during lunchtime. I couldn't help but think that they must all be studious individuals as I placed my order and enjoyed my meal. On this day, I had the Red Gate Mountain Bowl (780 yen), which seemed to be a daily changing seafood bowl. It was piled high with marinated white fish, tuna, and minced tuna with green onions. The marinated white fish was a bit off in terms of color, but considering the price, it was understandable. The tuna seemed like it was made from leftover scraps, which was a bit disappointing. That was my impression after tasting it.

Seafood bowl restaurant in front of the Akamon gate of the University of Tokyo. The restaurant has the appearance of a beef bowl restaurant. They offer a variety of seafood bowls at reasonable prices, so I occasionally visit. I usually go for the tuna bowl or whole eel bowl, but today I decided to try the recommended seafood bowl. It included flounder, tuna, squid, shrimp, salmon, and minced tuna, providing a great variety of toppings at a great value. The flounder, served fresh, was firm and delicious. You can also choose between clam soup, seaweed soup, or pork miso soup, which is a nice touch. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I often think that while beef bowl restaurants are common, seafood bowl restaurants are rare to come by. However, I found one called "Gin Hachidon" near the University of Tokyo. The restaurant looks just like a beef bowl place from the outside, making it easy for anyone to enter. Inside, there are regular menu items and daily specials written on a blackboard, although it can be hard to see the specials from certain seats. The staff quickly introduced the specials to me, which was a bit unexpected, but when I asked them to repeat, they seemed a bit annoyed. I thought it would be easier to just read the blackboard. The regular menu items are in the 600 yen range, with dishes like the "Akamon Mountain Bowl" and "Gin Hachidon." I decided to order the special 8-ingredient bowl for around 800 yen, attracted by the variety of ingredients. It was a bit more expensive than the regular menu items, but still reasonable at under 1000 yen. The actual dish, however, did not match the photo's appearance of being very voluminous. It included shrimp, octopus, mackerel, two types of salmon, minced tuna, scallops, and tuna. It was more like a sushi roll set you can buy at the supermarket. I felt a bit disappointed as I could have made something similar at home. Maybe seafood bowl versions of beef bowls are difficult to get right. I might try a different menu item with a photo next time to avoid any surprises.

A seafood bowl specialty restaurant located near the University of Tokyo's Akamon gate, most likely a chain store. The menu looked quite reasonable, so I decided to give it a try. I sat at the counter and ordered the "Akamon Mountain Bowl" (680 yen before tax) that caught my eye on the menu. It seemed to be a unique dish of this particular store, with double the amount of seafood toppings piled high. The bowl arrived shortly after. It didn't have the same impressive look as in the photo, but considering the price, it was reasonable. The toppings included tuna, negitoro, shirasu, salmon belly, and seared conger eel, all piled high. The taste was decent. The miso soup felt a bit cheap, but overall, it was not bad. It might be a good option for when you want to enjoy seafood conveniently. Thank you for the meal.

Memorable seafood bowl at the University of Tokyo(?) Based on a recommendation from a friend at the University of Tokyo, we decided to stop by together. This restaurant specializes in seafood bowls, and they are quite generous with the amount of fish they serve considering the price. We ordered the recommended seafood bowl of the day (salmon, tuna, etc.) and a salmon and salmon roe bowl. The salmon roe was decent, but the fish like salmon tasted like it had been frozen, just like the friend who recommended it said, "I used to enjoy this back in my student days (laughs)". While objectively it was just average, it's a place around the Akamon where it's hard to find good eateries, and it seems like a place where University of Tokyo students can enjoy a meal.

When I placed my order, it came out in about 2 minutes. I was surprised by how fast it was. The taste was also excellent. It's a great deal to be able to eat a seafood bowl with this freshness and volume. Extra rice is free. Payment is accepted in cash and through PayPay. I should have charged my PayPay beforehand. It seems they also offer takeout.

Until now, there have been many breakfast and lunch spots around, but this was the only restaurant where I had dinner near the University of Tokyo Hospital. While my family member was hospitalized at the University of Tokyo Hospital, I explored new restaurants around Todaimae and Hongo-sanchome. I originally planned to go to an Asian curry restaurant, but my companion wasn't keen on that, so we stumbled upon this place while walking around. Located to the left after passing through the Akamon gate. For older people, Japanese cuisine is probably the best choice. They offer dishes like seafood bowls and seasonal seafood bowls. I opted for the limited-time grilled saury rice bowl, which came with a miso soup with seaweed. It's a counter-style restaurant like Yoshinoya, so many people come here alone. I forgot to take a photo, but my family had the seafood bowl. Considering the price, speed, and quality, I think it's totally worth it. The atmosphere is not for lingering, but the prices are affordable even for students, and there's likely a menu item that Japanese people would enjoy. Since it's only a counter, it might be a bit challenging for much older individuals, but for active seniors, it could be a convenient place to grab a quick meal. There seems to be a shortage of decent dining options on this street, so it's nice to have a place where you can easily grab a proper meal. Thank you for the meal, Gin Hachi Don Todai Akamon-mae branch.

Right in front of the red gate of the University of Tokyo, I had lunch at a seafood bowl restaurant. Since it's right in front of the red gate, they have a dish called "Red Gate Mountain Bowl," which is a generous chirashi bowl with lots of toppings. I decided to go for the Red Gate Mountain Bowl. Once I placed my order, it was served in about 1 minute. The bowl lived up to its name with a luxurious amount of fresh fish toppings, offering various textures and flavors to enjoy. And the fact that it's priced in the 700 yen range including tax makes it quite a good deal. Additionally, this month they are running a lunch PayPay campaign, so I was lucky to get a full cashback. Don't miss out on this month's great deal on seafood bowl lunches.

I work at a workplace in Hongo Sanchome in Tokyo. Today, I decided to have lunch outside instead of the usual lunchtime. Seafood rice bowl at Gin Hachi Donburi This is a seafood rice bowl restaurant located near the Akamon gate of the University of Tokyo. I have been curious about it for a while. Among the various rice bowl menu options, I ordered this one. Seafood Pickled Rice Bowl The rice bowl came with a soup. I could choose the ingredients for the miso soup, so I chose seaweed, which I love. The seafood rice bowl had plenty of ingredients. Shrimp, tuna, yellowtail, and more. Along with these ingredients, the popping texture of the salmon roe was enjoyable and amazing. This is delicious (^-^) It's also great that you can get a free large portion of rice. It has good cost performance and I enjoyed it.

The cost performance is good. The Chirashi bowl is 680 yen. The seaweed miso soup is a bit expensive at 220 yen but good. The taste of the Negitoro was a little bit average, but considering the price, it's decent. The fish is also quite good.

Akamon Donburi, large size (50 yen extra). If you get the regular size, it's 680 yen. Great value for money and delicious.
