★I finally made my debut at Yayoiken, a restaurant I've always wanted to visit and try. This is the only store out of the 62 in Tokyo that has a parking lot (lol). I guess you could call this a roadside store or a street store, or are they the same thing (lol)? I had some business in Kokubunji, so I just kept heading north on Shin-Ome Kaido towards the west, and I almost felt like turning back, but then I saw it on the uphill side, oh yeah, we're almost in Ome (lol). There's a big parking lot next to the coffee shop. I ordered the "Special Beef Steak Set Meal for 1490 yen" from the vending machine and handed it to the waitress, who then told me, "The water is self-service, and you can have unlimited rice refills." It's a bit extravagant for lunch, but I had decided on it beforehand and it's a celebration of my debut (lol). While waiting for about 10 minutes, I nibbled on the complimentary pickles. Then the meal arrived, with a surprisingly small rice bowl, miso soup, a hot plate with spaghetti Napolitan, sautéed green beans, and potatoes, topped with 1.5 times the amount of steak meat, marinated in garlic soy sauce. One reviewer mentioned that the meat was tough, but I actually like it when it has this kind of bounce, it feels more like real meat and tastes delicious. The amount of rice was just right for about 2 servings, but if you're dining alone, it might be a good idea to make sure your belongings are secure when you go for a refill. Today was my first time at Yayoiken, and the customers were a mix of families, elderly couples, young groups, ladies' gatherings, drivers, and construction workers, etc. I wonder what kind of place it is exactly? It's not a family restaurant or a beef bowl place... (lol)
