Near the University of Tokyo, there is a restaurant that has been around for a while. At first, I thought it was a cafe, but when I went to see it up close, I saw that it was a teppanyaki restaurant specializing in steak hamburgers. The exterior has signs and posters that resemble a school cafeteria menu, making it easy to understand the prices and offerings. However, there is a slight sense of being a student hangout or an old establishment, and I was unsure if it was okay for a woman to enter. Feeling a bit nervous, I entered the restaurant. Inside, it was surprisingly spacious with a ski lodge-like ambiance. There were tatami rooms in the back, giving it a cozy and welcoming feel. The menu was displayed everywhere, making it hard to choose. The portions were generous, and most items were priced at 1000 yen or less, which was impressive. My colleague ordered the shoulder loin steak, while I opted for the sirloin steak. In addition to steak, they also offered hamburgers, omurice, pork shabu-shabu, and more, all priced at around 1000 yen. The restaurant seemed to attract not only university students but also older male customers. The service was efficient, and the staff seemed to run the place with a unique sense of urgency. Although the tables were a bit cramped, the experience was enjoyable. The steaks were substantial, and the cabbage and pasta on the side were a nice touch. However, the sauce was lacking in flavor, being mostly soy sauce-based. It would be great if they offered a variety of sauces or added more sweetness to it. Despite this, the quality of the meat for the price was commendable. Overall, with some improvements to the sauce, I would definitely consider returning to this restaurant.
