Sekiyama, a charcoal-grilled yakiniku restaurant in Okachimachi, is a beloved local spot known for its high-quality meat and good service. The menu includes a variety of cuts, including rare cuts and seafood options. The thick-sliced premium tongue and top harami were flavorful, while the rib roast stood out for its unique taste. The liver was fresh and well-marinated, without any unpleasant odor. The highlight was the kalbi and kimchi - the kalbi was juicy and delicious, and the kimchi had a perfect balance of sweetness, sourness, and umami. This kind of delicious basic menu makes this restaurant a great place for regular visits and easy recommendations to friends. And don't forget, you can finish off your meal with a Pino ice cream! I look forward to trying other meats on their menu in the future.

It's been a long time since I last visited. Usually it's quite empty, but on this rainy Thursday evening, the restaurant was divided by transparent partitions. The charcoal-grilled meat was clearly superior to gas-grilled. The harami was incredibly delicious! The normal loin was a bit tough and dried out when cooked. The liver had minimal odor and was good. The namul was also tasty. I like to eat the tongue with a sesame salt sauce (sesame oil + salt) and lemon. The freshly cooked rice was delicious too. The tegutangkupa soup was a bit thin and lacked depth, which was disappointing. It was so hot due to the partitions and the charcoal that I sweated profusely throughout the meal. With the new rules allowing for more customers, maybe it's time to remove the partitions. I hope to visit again when they are gone. Thank you for the meal!

Just a 3-minute walk from the subway station at Shin-Okachimachi, across the Satake shopping street, along Kiyosu Bridge Street, I visited for lunch. The Kalbi lunch and Harami lunch are 980 yen each, while the "Hien lunch" with a mix of Kalbi and Harami is 1480 yen. Today, I ordered the Kalbi lunch. A table-top charcoal grill was brought over, with the exhaust fan set up. Half of the seating is table seating, while the back is a sunken kotatsu style, with plenty of space. Soon, soup and rice bowl, meat, and namul all arrived on one plate. It was quite a generous portion at first glance. The fresh and colorful Kalbi meat had marbling, with 5-6 slices of good fatty meat placed on the grill to cook. The white smoke rose as it was grilled over charcoal, but instead of going into the exhaust fan, it filled the area with smoke (laughs). The finish from the charcoal was great, not using gas, and the sauce was on the sweeter, refreshing side. I added some gochujang to the sauce for a spicy kick and mixed it with the rice. The kimchi was nicely fermented, emphasizing the sweetness of the cabbage. The bean sprouts also had a good flavor. After finishing the meal, I paid at the exit, where the landlady was putting away the menu board. Lunch was already over by 1 pm. When I asked why, she said, "We're running the place with just the two of us, so it gets tiring..." (laughs) I was satisfied with the portion size and price. Thank you for the meal.

This is my first visit. I wasn't a big fan of kimchi or namul, but the food here was the best I've ever had. I've been to several high-end yakiniku restaurants recently, but I think the quality here is even better. It was truly a long time since I had such delicious yakiniku. Thank you for the meal.

I grilled meat over charcoal at a cozy restaurant located near Shin-Okachimachi Station, along the Kiyosuhashi Street parallel to the Satake Shopping Street, close to the intersection of Kasuga Street. Despite being near the station, the restaurant has a nostalgic atmosphere and is reasonably priced, making it a perfect place to enjoy yakiniku on days off. I found that there are surprisingly few yakiniku restaurants in the Shin-Okachimachi/Kuramae/Torigoe/Asakusabashi area, which could be seen as an opportunity.

I was surprised by the reasonably priced yakiniku lunch. Well, the kalbi was so-so but:
- Harami lunch for 980 yen with 7 pieces
- Kalbi lunch for 950 yen also with 7 pieces of meat, salad, kimchi, and other side dishes on one plate, with rice and wakame soup. It was quite a satisfying lunch with good cost performance. The harami was tender and delicious! The kalbi was, well, as expected. The kimchi served was unique in taste, seemed well fermented. The moyashi namul was tasty, and the daikon namasu refreshing and good.
You can double the amount of meat for an additional 200 yen, or triple it for 400 yen, which I think is quite cheap. (Harami and tongue are double for 500 yen, triple for 800 yen) Grilling over charcoal from lunchtime is also fantastic. The sauce is not too sweet, more on the spicy and refreshing side, and the smell of the charcoal-grilled sauce is irresistible, really stimulating the appetite. The smell is amazing! The staff at the restaurant may not be very friendly, but they are attentive and make sure to refill your tea before it runs out. The grills and cooking equipment are very clean, and there was even a signature from a Buffalo's player. Thank you for the delicious meal!

On a regular weekday around 12:30 pm, I was able to get a seat right away. I ordered the Roast Lunch for 950 yen with an extra 3 times the amount of meat for 400 yen. The lunch came out quickly and included raw meat, salad, namul, and kimchi all together. Some people might be concerned about the raw meat being served with the other dishes. The "3 times the amount of meat" option turned out to be quite generous with thick slices of lean pork that lacked strong flavor or any particular taste. The meat was not tough and had a satisfying chew. Overall, it seemed like a decent deal for the price.

I went there for the first time in a while. I ordered bottled beer and dishes like yukhoe, raw liver, premium harami, and bone-in kalbi. The presentation was nice with good marbling, but the meat lacked flavor and umami. I was disappointed. I'll have to hope for better next time! Thank you for the meal.

I found this restaurant in the area a while ago and decided to try it out again when I happened to pass by. It's a traditional charcoal grill yakiniku restaurant that seems to be loved by the locals. Although it doesn't have a high rating on Tabelog, I was curious about it. The interior had tables on the left and tatami seating on the right, with about 8-9 tables in total. It was about half full, mostly with locals. I ordered tongue, loin, top skirt, tripe, and scallops. While waiting, I enjoyed some kimchi. The kimchi was average, not too flavorful and slightly spicy. The tongue was the first to arrive, and the portion was generous for one person. It was thick and included the tongue base as well. The seasoning was the standard kind and it paired well with lemon. The loin was marinated in sauce, but it still had a good meaty flavor. The top skirt was also thickly cut and had a satisfying chew. It wasn't marbled like wagyu, which I personally prefer. The tripe had the classic miso flavor, and the scallops were thick and delicious. Overall, the seasoning was standard, but the portions were generous and the value for money was great. I wonder why this place doesn't have a higher rating, as I found it to be a great restaurant.

Thickly sliced beef tongue is hard to come by. The meat is high quality and the kimchi is delicious.

I used it at a banquet. It was delicious, but the smoke exhaust function was poor, and the smell stuck to my clothes.

This is a place where I go when I want to eat delicious meat because the quality of beef is directly proportional to the price.

Recently, the weather in Tokyo has been quite unpredictable. During such times, it's nice to treat yourself to some delicious food. I visited a popular local restaurant recommended by someone from the area and tried some of their highly praised dishes. Located near Shin-Okachimachi Station, just a short walk from the Asakusa 1-chome intersection, this restaurant offers a variety of mouthwatering options.
I ordered the "Special Kalbi (2,800 yen)" which was a popular item and cooked quickly over charcoal. The taste of the high-quality meat was truly enjoyable. The "Premium Harami (1,600 yen)" was also a hit, with a delicious flavor that ranked it as the best Harami I've had recently. The "Fatty Hormone [Large Intestine] (800 yen)" had a nice chewy texture and wasn't as greasy as expected, likely due to the charcoal grilling process. The smoke rising from the dish is a signature feature of this dish.
The "Kimchi (500 yen)" was generously portioned and reasonably priced, making it a great side dish. It had a well-balanced flavor without any strange aftertaste. The "Tegutankuppa (800 yen)" was the most popular spicy soup and had a good level of heat that allowed the flavors to shine through. The rich broth warmed me up from the inside out.
Overall, this restaurant offers a satisfying dining experience, and I highly recommend it for anyone craving good quality yakiniku in the Ueno area. If you know of any other places that are better than this, please let me know. The owner's mother also has a restaurant in Hyuga City, Miyazaki Prefecture, so if you happen to be in that area, be sure to check it out.

I was taken to this restaurant by an acquaintance who lives nearby. There were 7 of us for a post-event gathering. We ordered the usual items like beef tongue, kalbi, pork loin, kimchi, stone pot bibimbap, and kookpa. The taste was decent, not aiming for anything high-end. The kalbi was delicious enough for a fun, lively gathering. We were all guys and drank quite a bit, eating until we were full, but the average cost was 6,000 yen. Overall, we were satisfied with the value for money. It was a Sunday night, so the restaurant was bustling with families and young people. It seems like a place that is rooted in the local community and loved by many.
