It is my second visit to the popular yakitori restaurant from Ikeda, Osaka, located on the 6th floor of GEMS Nihonbashi, a 5-minute walk from Kanda Station and Shin-Nihonbashi Station. I originally came here for the soba restaurant in this building, but it seems to have closed, so I decided to dine at this restaurant again, which left a good impression last time. The lunch menu includes yakitori donburi for 950 yen, yakitori ju for 1280 yen, oyakodon for 1280 yen, and a limited edition dish of egg over rice cooked in a clay pot for 1480 yen. Since I had the limited edition dish last time, I ordered the yakitori ju this time. I was seated at a counter seat near the grill, and after about 10 minutes of waiting, the dish was ready. On the right side of the bento box were 4 skewers of yakitori, including chicken with plum paste and chopped shiso, negima, tsukune, and chicken skin. On the left side were simmered egg, daikon radish with miso, shishito pepper yakitori, pickled ginger, and pickled vegetables as side dishes. The freshly grilled yakitori had a slightly burnt exterior but the flavors were decent. The chicken broth soup was delicious, and the pickled vegetables consisted of carrots, daikon radish, and cucumbers, although it was a bit sparse with only one slice each. With only oyakodon remaining on the lunch menu, I look forward to trying that next time.
