I visited Natsuya, a Chinese soba restaurant that only operates on Wednesdays and Fridays, with the last order at 14:15. Unfortunately, when I arrived at 13:15, they were already sold out. Feeling like a lunch refugee, I decided to go to Kirikiri Mai, but they are on summer vacation until the end of August. Feeling hot and not wanting to travel far, I ended up in Musashi-Koyama and chose to have the popular "no-lid" oyakodon. Despite there not being a charcoal grill in the kitchen, I could somehow smell the charcoal. I enjoyed the soba with wasabi in the first half and shichimi pepper in the second half. #Fuji Soba #Musashi-Koyama #Shinagawa-ku #Tokyo Lunch Association 2023 #Lunch #Tokyo Lunch Association #Soba #Japanese soba #Japanese buckwheat noodles #soba over udon #oyakodon

I visited the restaurant around 6:30 am on a weekday and ordered the Tamago Don set for 410 yen. There were 5 customers before me and no customers after me. A lively young man was working alone. The breakfast menu is cheaper than the morning soba. I had to wait a bit, but I got freshly boiled noodles. The noodles were the traditional type, bright gray in color and square-shaped.

Fuji Soba is always open all year round and stays by my side. At such a Fuji Soba, I tend to order the katsudon as a main dish instead of as a set with soba. The aroma of the broth, the sweet seasoning, the thinly sliced pork cutlet. The egg that encases all of these flavors. Surprisingly generous amount of rice. The rice soaked in the sauce is also delicious. There may be a trend for open katsudon, but I think the classic katsudon with the sauce soaked in and sealed by the egg is the most delicious.

Fuji Soba is always open year-round and by my side. I tried their hidden menu item, "Old-fashioned Soy Sauce Ramen." The gentle soup with medium-thin curly noodles, topped with plenty of toppings for ¥500, really hits the spot after a long day of work. I ended up finishing it all without even realizing it, and the comforting feeling that fills my body for just ¥500 is something I never expected. Japan truly is the best country where you can enjoy food like this at such a price. It was around 9 PM when I had this experience.

Visit on Sunday night. Opted for something light after a heavy lunch. Two other parties already there. Clean interior. Ordered the Spring Chrysanthemum Tempura Soba for 560 yen and waited about five minutes. The taste was okay. The chrysanthemum was delicious. I can't quite explain it, but there was a lonely atmosphere in this place.

I had to go to Musashi-Koyama for work on this day. I was planning to skip lunch again, but my schedule changed by about 30 minutes, so I decided to go to Fuji Soba where I could quickly grab something to eat. I always go for the spring vegetable tempura with my udon or soba, so I ordered the large serving of spring vegetable tempura soba. It had been a while since I last visited Fuji Soba, but the broth was rich and delicious. I appreciated being able to eat quickly. Thank you for the meal.

Cold Kitsune Soba for 460 yen. It's past 3:30 pm but still hot outside. The staff are foreigners, so I can't understand what they're saying, but the soba is cold, smooth, and delicious. Fuji Soba in Musashikoyama, Shinagawa-ku. Tokyo Lunch Association 2022. Lunch. I prefer soba over udon. Kitsune Soba.

(Revisited on March 11, 2022) I didn't have much of an appetite that day, so I decided to have some soba. When I looked around the ticket machine area in front of the shop, there was a set called "Cheap! Satisfying! Limited discount! 500 yen set" available! I chose the Mini Squid Tempura Rice Bowl for 500 yen (tax included) and paid with Suica. I then ordered the cold soba at the counter inside the shop, received my ticket, and waited at an empty seat. It was just before 11:30, and there were about 3 other customers. After a short wait, my number was called, and I received my order on a tray. First, I tried the squid tempura rice bowl. It came with 3 pieces of squid tempura - 2 body parts and 1 tentacle. The tempura batter was quite thick, but it paired well with the sweet sauce. The rice was also tasty. The portion was just right for when you're not very hungry. Next, I tried the zaru soba. I dipped the soba in wasabi and then in the dipping sauce. The soba was slightly firm, which I liked. The dipping sauce was on the salty side, with a strong flavor, typical of Kanto-style soba. Adding some soba water to dilute the saltiness might be a good idea. Overall, for the price of 500 yen including tax, it was not bad at all. The catchphrase "Cheap!" is accurate, but "Satisfying!" might vary from person to person. However, at 500 yen tax included, it's a reasonable price for a snack. Thank you for the meal.

(Revisited on December 8, 2021) I decided to have a light soba as a snack on a chilly, rainy day. I ordered the "Geso Tempura Soba" for 460 yen (tax included), with the option for a free large serving. I used my IC card for payment. There were no other customers at the time. I purchased the tempura soba from the ticket machine outside the shop, paid with my Suica card, and received two tickets, including the large serving. The noodles were quickly cooked and served with tempura on top. The tempura consisted of three pieces, which were not very substantial. The batter was thick, but the squid itself was surprisingly soft and easy to chew. The soba noodles were chewy and delicious, especially since I opted for the large serving. Overall, it made for a satisfying snack. Thank you for the meal.

(Revisited on August 5, 2021) I went to the site that day and missed lunch, so I decided to eat something as soon as I got off the train. I ordered Cold Eggplant and Grated Radish Soba for 460 yen (tax included) at the ticket machine, with a free large size option. I was relieved to be able to pay with my transportation IC card. After a short wait, my number was called and I went to pick up my order. The soba broth was not too rich, but rather light. The cold soba wasn't ice-cold, but more like lukewarm. I wish there was a bit more eggplant. Even with the large size, the soba portion wasn't that much. It was just enough to satisfy a small hunger. Thank you for the meal.

I occasionally use Fuji Soba. It is convenient for when I am a little hungry or when I don't have time for lunch. This time, I went in for a quick lunch while on the go. I ordered the tempura soba. The tempura soba at Fuji Soba is consistently delicious. I like to add plenty of shichimi spice. I thought it would have been nice to add an egg, but before I knew it, I had finished it all. Next time, I might try a set meal with a rice bowl. Thank you for the meal.

(Revisited on April 1, 2021) Whenever I passed by Parum Shopping Street, I was always curious about the Takoyaki Soba. I had decided since morning that I would go eat this for lunch. I actually prefer the Ran-giri Soba at the Nishikoyama branch, but since I had only seen the Takoyaki Soba sign at the Musashikoyama branch, I ended up coming here. It was 11:30, and luckily there were no other customers at the time. Oh, the ticket machine has changed, now accepting payment with transportation IC cards. This has become convenient. However, I'm not used to it, so I had a hard time finding the button for extra large portions and the button for the Takoyaki, which seemed to be on sale, was in a very difficult position to find. It's a good thing there were no customers behind me (sweat). I was able to purchase the extra large portion and the Takoyaki ticket using my Suica card without any issues, and handed the ticket to the staff at the counter and received a half-ticket, then waited a while for my order to be ready. During that time, I poured the soba broth into the bowl to let it cool down a bit for easier drinking. After about 4 minutes, my number was called and I went to pick up my order. It was an extra large portion, but it didn't feel that voluminous. It's a free extra large portion, so I can't really complain. The Takoyaki wasn't as big as shown on the poster. Perhaps that's why instead of the usual 3 pieces, there were 4 pieces included. There were also small amounts of seaweed and green onions as toppings. First, I tried the broth. Surprisingly, the color was dark but the taste was quite light. This is the first time I've experienced this. I always thought that soba shops in the Kanto region, even chain stores, had strong flavors, but this taste is the complete opposite. The umami flavor isn't very pronounced, but it's not bad. Next, I tried the Takoyaki. It's soft and goes through easily. The batter isn't as crispy as expected. If they wanted to emphasize the crispy texture, a separate serving might be better. The soba noodles were smooth and slid down the throat easily. The length of the noodles might be just right for easy eating. They were gone in no time. Lastly, I drank the soba broth, which surprisingly wasn't cold and by the time I finished it, my body was warm and I started sweating. I wasn't interested in trying the collaboration Takoyaki Soba with Gin-dako, but the Squid Tempura Soba was good too. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Thank you.

Located inside the Musashi-Koyama Arcade is Meidai Fuji Soba, a convenient soba chain that offers affordable and decently delicious meals. I visited the Musashi-Koyama branch and decided to try their ramen today. I chose the Niboshi (dried sardine) ramen and also added a mini curry on the side. The Niboshi ramen was priced at 460 yen, and the mini curry at 250 yen, both including tax. Please note that not all branches serve ramen, so be sure to check before ordering. After placing my order at the ticket machine, I received a glass of water and my meal was ready in just 3 minutes. The ramen looked like a standard bowl of noodles, but the soup was surprisingly flavorful with a base of chicken broth and dried sardines. The noodles were traditional medium-thick curly noodles that paired well with the soup. The bowl came with toppings such as char siu pork, half a boiled egg, bamboo shoots, fish cake, green onions, and seaweed, making it quite filling. The mini curry was a simple curry without any additional ingredients. Overall, the Niboshi ramen was delicious and I would recommend trying it out.

(Revisited on December 3, 2020) My wife had afternoon tea after work, so she said she didn't need dinner. Feeling a bit hungry myself, I decided to have a light meal at this place in Parum Shopping Street. Despite being nearby, it was only my second visit in over 10 years. Luckily, there were no other customers at the time. I used the ticket machine inside the store to order a Curry Katsu Don set for 790 yen (including tax). The regular Katsu Don set was 740 yen, so the curry was an additional 50 yen. I handed the food ticket to the staff and received a half-ticket in return, then waited for a while. Since it was run by just one person, it took a bit of time. Eventually, my number was called. I put the half-ticket into the holder myself and received the tray. The Curry Katsu Don looked quite cheap in appearance, not very meaty. It was basically curry poured over the Katsu Don. I tasted the curry with a spoon. It was lukewarm. It would've been better if it was hotter, so I was a bit disappointed. I felt like just having regular Katsu Curry would have been better. The Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) felt unnecessary. The soba noodles were average. I topped it with plenty of shichimi pepper and slurped it up, and before I knew it, it was gone. Well, it satisfied my hunger, so I'll take it. Thanks for the meal.

(Revisited on August 14, 2020) I was craving for Bak Kut Teh soba, so I walked through the shopping street to get there. I pressed the extra-large option first, inserted the money, and selected the No.1 cold Bak Kut Teh soba or udon for 590 yen (tax included) and picked up the food ticket. I handed the ticket to the staff behind the counter and specified that I wanted the soba. There were three other customers scattered around the shop. I received a half-ticket and found a spot with the coolest air conditioning. While waiting, I tried the soba broth, but it was quite thin, which was disappointing. After about 4 minutes, my number was called. The shop takes time because they serve freshly boiled soba. I don't mind waiting if it means getting freshly boiled soba. The portion I received was large, but the amount of pork belly on top was disappointingly small. Garlic chips were sprinkled on top of the pork belly. I tasted the soup first, with a prominent garlic aroma followed by a refreshing hint of pepper. I felt it needed more pepper, so I added some more myself. The cold soba was firm and refreshing. You could feel your body cooling down from the inside. In Singapore, Bak Kut Teh typically uses star anise, but this soup seemed more like a garlic soba. It's not bad, but I personally wish it would resemble the taste of Singapore a bit more. They claim to follow the style of the famous Fuji Soba, so maybe it's not my place to say. If they could improve the presentation a bit, they might attract more customers. Overall, it was a decent meal.

I had no idea about this place, but I decided to give it a try after seeing the ramen sign. The price was cheap and the ramen came out quickly. It was a simple ramen, not bad at all. It felt good to enjoy something so easy and casual. Thank you for the meal.

On December 30, 2019, Monday, around 11:00 PM, I visited a place wearing work clothes. There was no parking available, and credit cards were not accepted. I saw a menu introduction and couldn't resist entering the restaurant. It's nice to have such experiences at the end of the year, right? Due to my job, I sometimes have to work suddenly during the New Year holidays. This day was one of those times. I went to a certain place in the Musashi-Koyama shopping street in Shinagawa-ku. I had a brief conversation with a customer, did a little work, and finished in 15 minutes. Since I was already in Musashi-Koyama, I decided to explore the area. It was the end of the year, and there were quite a few groups having year-end parties. In the midst of that, I passed by a Fuji Soba shop and saw a sign for "Bak Kut Teh Soba." I remembered hearing about it on Rocket News. Although I wasn't very hungry and didn't particularly like Fuji Soba, I decided to give it a try. I purchased the Bak Kut Teh Soba for 590 yen at the ticket machine. When I handed over the ticket, I was asked if I wanted soba, and I hesitated a bit but decided to go with soba. The dish arrived in a few minutes. Bak Kut Teh is a dish made by simmering spare ribs, offal, and Chinese soy sauce with Chinese medicinal herbs. It is usually served in a clay pot. In addition to the mentioned ingredients, lettuce, mushrooms, yuba, thick fried tofu, and youtiao (Chinese style fried bread) are also used. According to Wikipedia. The Bak Kut Teh Soba at Fuji Soba had thinly sliced pork instead of ribs. I thought that was fine. It's a quick place to eat, so it might be a bit difficult if they served it with bones trying to be too authentic. The soup had a taste that I felt was like the authentic one (I've never had the authentic one, is it from Malaysia or Singapore?). It had a strong flavor with various spices like black pepper in pork bone soup rather than traditional soba broth. It completely separated from soba broth and had a taste more similar to ramen with a strong pork bone and black pepper flavor. It had a very intense impression. If it had raw garlic in it, it would have been even more intense, but it was probably served with garlic chips, most likely to consider eating it during work. It wasn't incredibly delicious, but it had a memorable taste that was enjoyable enough. I think it would be better with udon noodles rather than soba. However, I believe it's great that they offer such unique menu items, so I rated the dish and taste quite high. I came to Musashi-Koyama with a somewhat negative feeling at the end of the year, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to eat something I don't usually eat. Thank you for the meal.

(Visit on November 16, 2019) It was my first visit to this local restaurant. My wife had just returned from her parents' house and wasn't very hungry, but she said she could go for some soba, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the Niku-Fuji for 530 yen and the Spicy Negi Ramen for 460 yen (tax included). I handed over the food tickets and received a half-ticket to wait at a vacant table. I learned that I should have pressed the extra-large button when purchasing the food tickets for the free extra-large service, but it was too late. I was disappointed for not knowing the rules of the first visit to the restaurant. After a short wait of about 3 minutes, our order was ready for pick-up. The Niku-Fuji came with seaweed and a hot spring egg. The amount of meat was not that much, but I was happy to see it was pork instead of beef. The broth had a slightly sweet taste, probably from simmering the meat. The soba was average, nothing particularly outstanding. But for 530 yen with meat, seaweed, and a hot spring egg, it was a good value for money. If I had known the rules, I could have ordered the extra-large size too. Next was the Spicy Negi Ramen. The amount of negi (green onions) was not that much, but it also came with seaweed and a half-boiled egg. The spiciness was a bit mild for my taste. It would be nice if we could adjust the level of spiciness. This dish was also available in an extra-large size, offering good value for money. The taste was not as good as a ramen shop's, but it was satisfying enough for a quick meal. Overall, it was a decent meal.

This is Fuji Soba Musashikoyama store. They offer morning ramen for 350 yen. The store is located in a shopping street near the station. Be careful, as motorcycles are only allowed until 7 am in the shopping street. I was hoping for a unique menu, and luckily they had morning ramen. It was a simple dish with plenty of seaweed and green onions in a nostalgic soy sauce flavor. The extra seaweed was a nice touch, but overall, ramen for breakfast felt a bit heavy.
