(Revisited on 27th August 2023) After about a month, I visited a restaurant listed in THE MICHELIN GUIDE TOKYO 2023 as a Bib Gourmand. The dishes I enjoyed were as follows:
[Food]
- Chef's Omakase Course (9500 yen)
- Thin-skinned pickled eggplant
- Shizuoka fresh shirasu and Italian bottarga cold capellini
- Bread (focaccia) with mascarpone
- Kochi isaki carpaccio
- Miyako-jima green papaya and shikuwasa + Yonezawa hagura uri and peanut salad
- Kyoto white cuttlefish + Miyagi scallop + Akashi red snapper tomato stew with garlic toast
- Yonezawa green chili and Parmigiano cheese spaghetti (less green chili)
- Grass-fed beef rib roast Milanese cutlet + Hokkaido tomato + Tochigi sasage
- Cassata (ricotta cheese, melon, blueberry)
The cold capellini with fresh shirasu was so delicious that I wanted to eat it every day. I had been craving raw fish, so the isaki carpaccio was also much appreciated. It had been a while since I visited a tonkatsu restaurant, so I was happy to have the beef cutlet. The ingredient "sasage" had been lingering in my memory, and I found out it is a young form of something used in Awaji Island's local dish "chobo-jiru."
[Drinks]
- Sparkling mineral water (SANPELLEGRINO)
- PERONI (limited-time menu)
- Nifo Sarrapochiello Fluusa Falanghina Bio
- Babalú Pinot Grigio
- Malvirà Roero Arneis 2021
- Yebisu beer
- Iced coffee (included in the course)
The total came to 15200 yen. Thank you for the meal.

"I visited this restaurant after being intrigued by reviews mentioning it as 'not your typical Italian restaurant in Kinshicho'. I made a same-day reservation and found the entrance to be quite hard to locate. Since there was no sign outside, I had to look up and find the second-floor restaurant in the building, and climbed the stairs to reach it. The interior had a stylish vibe centered around a single wooden counter, which indeed gave off a chic atmosphere not commonly found in Kinshicho.
The prefixed course was priced at 7500 yen, up from the previous 6000 yen. It included a choice of appetizer, pasta, and main dish. Each dish was served for sharing, and we had two different pasta options. The food was prepared with a solid cooking technique, giving off a home-cooked feel. The Genovese pasta with plenty of pine nuts and the tenderly braised chicken were particularly delicious. However, considering the impact of high prices, I felt it was a bit on the expensive side.
Overall, it's a place with a nice atmosphere where you'd want to relax and take your time. I would like to revisit this restaurant again."

Italian restaurant located a few minutes' walk from Kinshicho Station South Exit. I had been curious about this Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant nearby for a while, and finally visited on a weekday night with a reservation. The interior of the restaurant had both counter seats and surprisingly, a good number of tables, with at least three. Upon entering the restaurant, you can choose from a la carte, prix-fixe courses, or chef's choice courses. Although it was stated that the chef's choice course required a reservation, I was able to order it on the same day. I ordered the chef's choice course for 8000 yen, which included 5 appetizers, bread, pasta, a main meat dish, and dessert. I was pleased with the variety of appetizers that came out at this price point. The first half of the meal consisted of appetizers with a good amount of olive oil and salt, making them perfect to enjoy with wine. The main dish was Miyagi prefecture black pork, specifically the shoulder loin. Overall, the meal was consistent and if you're looking to casually enjoy Italian cuisine, this restaurant is a safe choice. It gives off a Bib Gourmand vibe, and it seems like it would be fun to order dishes a la carte as well. The atmosphere at the counter seats is also nice, making it seem like you could have a chat with the chef.

"Sugahara" is a delicious Italian restaurant in Kinshicho that has been rumored about. The chef trained at the famous restaurant Danoi before opening his own place. They have even been selected for the Michelin Bib Gourmand. The Italian dishes here are made with fresh vegetables and carefully selected ingredients. The quality of the dishes, such as the prosciutto, meat, and thick scallops, is top-notch. The focaccia with honey mascarpone cheese was so delicious that I had to get seconds. For dessert, I chose tiramisu with espresso. The course menu is priced at less than 8000 yen, which is a great deal considering the quality. It's a shame I couldn't have any wine today, as I wanted to enjoy it with the food.

Choose a course from the menu for 5000 yen. Visited around 6:30 pm on a weekday. After arriving at the building near the restaurant without any noticeable sign, I found a menu and confirmed that I was in the right place. I climbed the stairs to the second floor and entered the restaurant. The interior had a calm atmosphere with dim lighting, featuring a counter with 4 seats and 4 four-person tables. I was given a menu for the pre-dinner drink selection and ordered a glass of Ebisu beer. The 5000 yen course offered a choice between chef's selection or selecting dishes from the menu. I chose to select from the menu and ordered the tuna carpaccio and seasonal vegetable assortment for the appetizers, mezze maniche carbonara and spaghetti with cauliflower and anchovy for the pasta, and grilled New Zealand ribeye for the main course. The first amuse-bouche was prosciutto and cheese, and pickled small peaches. This was followed by focaccia with cream cheese, walnuts, and honey, which was warm and fluffy. The creamy cheese with honey and walnuts was a delicious combination of flavors and textures. The tuna carpaccio was served generously drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper. The seasonal vegetable assortment included pickled red turnips, carrot salad, sautéed spinach, lotus root, cabbage, taro, scallions, and shimeji mushrooms, providing a variety of flavors and textures. The spaghetti with cauliflower and anchovy had a crispy texture from the cauliflower and a balanced saltiness from the anchovy. The mezze maniche carbonara featured a rich sauce that complemented the chewy pasta and crispy pancetta. For the main course, the grilled New Zealand ribeye was tender, juicy, and served with a generous portion of spring greens and taro. The meat had a perfect level of doneness and was very flavorful. Each dish showcased the quality of the ingredients and offered ample portions, making the 5000 yen course a great value.

A restaurant located near Kinshicho Station South Exit, close to Hello Work. This time, I ordered the 5000 yen course. It includes appetizer, pasta, and main dish. Everything was delicious. The pasta was exquisite. The pork in the main dish was also very tasty. The food, drinks, and service were all excellent. This is a restaurant in Kinshicho that I want to cherish.

I was taken to a wonderful Italian restaurant in Kinshicho! The restaurant's logo doesn't look like it belongs in Kinshicho (sorry). They offer a la carte dishes as well as two course options: omakase and prix fixe. We chose the prix fixe course (5,000 yen) which includes two appetizers (or a platter), two pasta dishes, and a choice of main course. The appetizer platter included three types of prosciutto, which made me happy because I could try everything I wanted. I had cabbage and bottarga spaghetti, penne gorgonzola, and roast chicken for the main course. The focaccia was also delicious, I ended up getting seconds. Dessert and post-meal drinks are not included in the course price, so I ordered a coffee. Today's dessert was tiramisu, which was delicious. The portion sizes, especially for the main course, were satisfying for the price of 5,000 yen!
Money spent: 7,400 yen

I was looking for a delicious Italian restaurant near my workplace and I found one. It is located on the second floor of a building a little further from Ryogoku after walking from the station. Since it was Christmas, they had a special menu. I opted for a plan where they select wines to match the dishes. The wine explanation was very detailed and it seemed like the staff had a good knowledge of wines. Even though I don't know much about wine, I found myself thinking "this tastes just like they described it..." especially the last Amarone was very delicious. As for the food, it was an orthodox menu due to Christmas. I could feel the attention to the ingredients, and I could enjoy the direct taste of the fresh ingredients. I would like to try the dishes a la carte sometime, starting from the taste of the sauces added to the dishes. It's not a stiff restaurant, but it's not a casual trattoria either. The interior is chic and calm, and I think it's a good style to enjoy a meal with someone while having a leisurely conversation.

In a quiet oasis-like Italian restaurant in Nishinaka, just a few minutes walk from the south exit, you can find a cozy and peaceful atmosphere on the second floor after climbing a small staircase next to the yakitori shop in the back alley. The food and service provide a sense of comfort and security, making it feel like an oasis in the city. The dishes are simple but made with interesting use of ingredients. The appetizers are carefully selected and prepared, offering a comforting and delicious experience. The pasta dishes, using impactful ingredients like karasumi, are perfectly balanced, leaving a soothing sensation in the body. The wine selection is recommended, with the staff pairing a glass to complement the meal. The service by Mr. Nishimura adds a wonderful touch to the conversation, making it a delightful dining experience with a lovely atmosphere.

A friend invited me to a restaurant for a wedding celebration. The restaurant is their favorite spot, and we opted for the chef's choice course. The dishes featured locally sourced vegetables and meat from close farms, prepared in an Italian style. It was autumn, so the abundance of mushrooms was delightful. The dishes were simple and served in large platters, showcasing the delicious ingredients with minimal manipulation. The pasta was seasoned with shiitake mushrooms and anchovies, while the roast chicken was simply cooked. The wine was selected to complement the dishes. For dessert, they served a baked custard with a congratulatory message written in chocolate on the edge of the plate. As we left, both the chef and waiter wished us congratulations. It may not fit the typical restaurant review criteria, but it was a lovely experience.

This was my first visit to the area around Kinshicho, where this restaurant is positioned as a high-end Italian place. Being high-end, the important thing is whether they go above expectations. It's not enough to just be delicious; there needs to be something that shines in the balance between price and quality for a return visit. Overall, everything was not bad, but on the other hand, nothing stood out to be memorable. It's a place where you can eat slowly in a calm atmosphere, but once you leave Kinshicho, there are plenty of other places with high quality at this price point.
