A colleague recommended this restaurant to me, so I went with my 2nd-year high school son. We arrived at 11:05 for the 11:00 opening time and had reserved the all-you-can-eat sushi (4,939 yen per person). The place was only half full at that time, and even those without reservations could easily get in. The staff explained the rules to us once we were seated. Here are the rules in brief: Order 20 pieces of sushi per table, write down the number of pieces you want on the order form on the table. Once your order arrives, you can place the next order, and limited to 1 piece of sushi and 1 item only, the chawanmushi is served first. When the chawanmushi arrives, hand over the order form and start the all-you-can-eat. At first, I ordered one piece of sushi that caught my eye, while my son, being a high schooler, ordered 5 pieces of medium fatty tuna and 5 pieces of negitoro. The order arrived in about 15 minutes, and we quickly placed our second order and started eating. Here are our thoughts on the food:
<Excellent: Super delicious (would definitely order even if it's not all-you-can-eat)>
- Seared salmon: Possibly the best.
- Negitoro: Generous portion of the topping and delicious taste.
- Seared fatty tuna: The green onions and grated radish complement the fatty tuna well.
- Seared sea bream: Similar to sea bream, delicious. Would like to alternate between sea bream and this.
- Horse mackerel: Just the right amount of fat, refreshing with ginger, good.
- Gizzard shad butter gunkan: Fragrant eel with butter aroma, matches well and delicious.
<Good: Delicious (might order depending on the price even if it's not all-you-can-eat)>
- Red snapper wrapped in cherry blossom leaves: Cherry blossom leaves go well with sea bream, but the leaves are a bit tough.
- Medium fatty tuna: Thickly sliced topping, not too oily, good.
- Fatty tuna with grated radish: Delicious but too little pickled daikon. Might be tastier with more.
- Sea bream: Properly delicious.
- Eel: Delicious eel but the topping is too thin.
- Shrimp (half-boiled): Not bad, but I want to eat raw shrimp.
<Average: Normal (would not order if it's not all-you-can-eat)>
- Sea urchin: Okay.
- Eel: Delicious eel but the topping is too thin.
- Salmon: Not so good. Seared salmon is way better.
- Whale: Ordered it because it's rare, but has a unique taste, satisfied after eating once.
- Pickled tuna: Neither good nor bad.
- Mackerel in sesame oil soy sauce: Didn't suit my taste.
- Simmered scallop: Couldn't taste the scallop or its flavor, disappointing.
- Saury: Slightly fishy, don't need it anymore.
The wait from ordering to receiving the food is slow. We stayed until the last minute of the 120-minute time limit, but even if you order the full amount, it's limited to 7 times. In the end, we were full, so we ordered 12 pieces, totaling 134 pieces for the two of us (2 limited sushi + 20 pieces x 6 plates + 12 pieces x 1 plate). Ordering the full amount would be too much at 142 pieces within the time limit. The system is not very satisfying for an all-you-can-eat. It's not worth it if you're with a woman (4,609 yen per person). Considering that you can eat 10 pieces for 1,089 yen for weekday lunch, there's not much point in choosing all-you-can-eat. This time, I went with my high school son, so I think we got our money's worth, but if I had brought my wife (small eater), we might not have. I now know which toppings are delicious, so next time, I want to use the restaurant in a different way than all-you-can-eat.
