I visited a standing bar called Banpaiya. The main store is in Musashi-Koyama, but this time I went to the Musashi-Koyama Ekimae branch. They have standing space at the entrance and table seating at the back. I always wanted to try drinking at Banpaiya at a table, so it felt like a dream come true. There is a table charge of 70 yen, but it's worth it for a relaxing time at Banpaiya. I started with the classic Green Tea Highball for 290 yen. I really like their version of the green tea highball, made with powdered tea like at a sushi restaurant. They also have a good selection of sake, ranging from 490 to 790 yen for a glass. I tried Kagatobi, Tanigawadake, and a dry sake, all of which were great. The food menu includes octopus tempura, maguro sashimi, ginkgo nuts, vegetable tempura, nanohana, yakisoba, and more, all priced at a reasonable 310 yen each. The dishes are all delicious, so you can order without worry. However, the exclusive yakisoba at this branch was a bit underwhelming. Overall, the Musashi-Koyama Ekimae branch is conveniently located near the station, has table seating, and a great selection of sake. It's a recommended spot for sake lovers.

I recently visited the restaurant "Banpaiya Musashikoyama Ekimae" which has become one of my favorites due to a stopover in the Musashikoyama direction. I visited on a Thursday around 4:30 pm and was able to enter smoothly without having to wait. For the menu, I ordered a shochu highball and some appetizers. - Shochu highball ¥330 (tax included) - Hoppy set (black) ¥430 (tax included) - Hoppy (medium) ¥250 (tax included) - Sashimi platter (3 types) ¥500 (tax included) - Grilled thick tofu with natto ¥150 (tax included) - Stewed dish ¥150 (tax included) - Total amount ¥1,960 (tax included) As for the taste, the sashimi platter of bonito, tuna, and clam tendons was fresh and delicious! The grilled thick tofu with natto was simple but tasted amazing when eaten with mustard. The stewed dish had tofu and soft stewed offal, which was a perfect match. The macaroni salad had plenty of macaroni and went well with the drinks! Overall, I have visited several of their branches recently, and although the menu varies slightly from store to store, the appetizers are cheap and delicious, making it an ideal place for a casual drink! Visited alone for the first time in a while on December 10, 2022. Today, I relaxed at Musashikoyama Onsen Shimizuyu from noon. On the way back, I had a quick drink at Banba-ya. Banba-ya is a standing bar that originated in Musashikoyama. It respects the previous visit to Akabane's "Standing Bar Ikoi Main Store" and has been popularized in a good way. Although there is a "Standing Bar Banba-ya Musashikoyama Main Store (temporary store)" nearby, the true founding location is more likely this station-front store. Before the redevelopment, there was a drinking street called "Rue Rue" in the location of this Park City Musashikoyama THE MALL, commonly known as the "dark street". The first Banba-ya store was located there. Therefore, the true founding location would be this station-front store. The main store allows smoking, while the station-front store is completely non-smoking, so I personally prefer this one. Banba-ya has recently opened a new store for the first time in 2 years in Juso, the first landing in Kansai, followed by the opening of the Osaka Station Building No. 3 store on the 7th and the Tennoji store on the 26th. I tried the pitch-black chu-hai at Banpaiya. It looks completely black, but it's just a regular chu-hai. Golden chu-hai for 290 yen each x 3, beef simmered in salt for 180 yen, tuna sashimi rice bowl for 250 yen. Feeling like having a casual standing drink, as I haven't had an outdoor drink in a while, it's been over a year since I last visited this izakaya. Located on the first floor of a tower mansion near the station, the atmosphere is incredibly clean and stylish, but next door is Torayu, which is more Musako-like and wonderful. I was interested in the beef simmered in salt that is only available here. The beef tripe is lightly simmered without any unpleasant smells, not too heavy, which is nice. There was also beef tail, so the broth itself has a taste similar to tail soup, making it delicious and easy to eat. Snacking on tofu and white leeks in between. The minced tuna with grated yam is excellent, both are just the right amount. And, Golden chu-hai after a long time tastes good. Feeling slightly tipsy, I paid the bill.

Senbero's champion standing bar izakaya, Banpaiya, has stylishly revived as a non-smoking point! Now, it is a chain store under the Toridoll umbrella and can be found in various locations. When we arrived, we were joined by the person who caused a big incident at the No.1 spot at the end of the Heisei era. The store was non-smoking, which attracted more female customers compared to other Izakaya Genkai locations. We celebrated our achievement with Hoppy Set White and delicious appetizers. After enjoying our drinks for about an hour and a half, PPY had to leave for another appointment. We then remembered our promise to visit a nearby Chinese restaurant owned by brothers we met at an eel stand last week. Despite the long journey, we were happy to have completed the Izakaya Genkai challenge. Thank you for the meal.

I came back with the completion of the station building! The main beer was Sapporo, but the beer at the station front store was Kirin Ichiban Shibori! The main store is spacious, so the order takes a bit longer to arrive, but the station front store is smaller and a bit faster, although still a bit slow due to being inexperienced. The station front store has a limited beef salt stew, daily recommendations, and enoki mushrooms tempura, both of which were good! Around 5 pm on Saturdays, there were few customers, so I was able to enjoy drinking alone in peace. I think this place is easier to visit than the main store.

The redevelopment of Musashi-Koyama is progressing, with the completion of the first tower building near the station. The construction of the second tower building has already started, and plans for the third and fourth buildings are also in place. The commercial spaces in this area are slowly starting to fill up with shops, one of them being "Banpaiya" which opened on November 11th. It's great to see them back at the station after having a temporary store. I visited for a casual drink to celebrate the opening. The atmosphere is just like the main store, with a bright and cozy standing bar. Lemon sour - 290 yen, Tuna sashimi - 200 yen, Beef tendon stew - 180 yen. The stew here is salt-flavored with beef tendon, unlike the miso-flavored stew at the main store. It was delicious with a refreshing saltiness, which seems to be popular nowadays. The tuna sashimi was decent quality for the price of 200 yen. The lemon sour was tasty, but I later noticed that the horse highball was only 100 yen. It seems to be a special offer for the opening. I'll try that next time. I also heard that "Torayu" will be opening next door. It would be a great collaboration if Banpaiya could deliver Torayu's yakitori. I might suggest that to them next time. I spent only about 15 minutes there and the total bill was 670 yen. It was a brief but refreshing break. It's a convenient place to stop by on the way home.

On November 17, 2019, I visited with two friends for the first time. The first restaurant in the Musako redevelopment dining building is Banpaiya. It's great to see a shop originating from Misako. The opening was still during the "standing drinking day" before most of the shops moved in on November 11th at 11 o'clock... they're really pushing it (laughs). Even after the opening of the station front store, the main store will continue to operate as a temporary store. The main difference with the main store is that this one is completely non-smoking, which is great for someone like me who dislikes cigarettes. It's a very stylish location in a tower apartment dining building. However, even though it's before the opening, the neighboring shop is Torayu. The dishes we had were: "Grilled Mackerel" (200 yen)... it's surprising to get fatty grilled mackerel for this price. "Liver Fry" (130 yen)... one of Banpaiya's specialties. The liver is shaped into a round shape and fried, then dipped in a broth sauce, it's delicious. "Negitoro (Musako Special)" (200 yen)... it's a hidden menu item. It's on the grand menu but the station front store has a lot of chopped ginger on top. "Squid with Black Pepper" (180 yen)... crispy fried squid seasoned with black pepper, perfect for a snack. I couldn't resist getting more. "Whale Sashimi" (290 yen)... cheap! Well, the taste is average. The drinks we had were: "Fresh Yuzu Highball" (330 yen) and "Horse Highball" (100 yen)... opening special prices until December. "Tomato Sour" (290 yen). The amazing thing about this place is the system, they are experimenting with different things in the shop and area, but the incredibly low prices are amazing! It's great to see Banpaiya surviving in the rapidly changing Musashikoyama. I was worried when they became part of the Marugame Seimen group, but I hope they continue to keep the spirit of Musako alive. The non-smoking policy might increase my visits here.
