Visited alone for the first time in a while on December 10, 2022. Today, I relaxed at Musashikoyama Onsen Shimizuyu from noon. On the way back, I had a quick drink at Banba-ya. Banba-ya is a standing bar that originated in Musashikoyama. It respects the previous visit to Akabane's "Standing Bar Ikoi Main Store" and has been popularized in a good way. Although there is a "Standing Bar Banba-ya Musashikoyama Main Store (temporary store)" nearby, the true founding location is more likely this station-front store. Before the redevelopment, there was a drinking street called "Rue Rue" in the location of this Park City Musashikoyama THE MALL, commonly known as the "dark street". The first Banba-ya store was located there. Therefore, the true founding location would be this station-front store. The main store allows smoking, while the station-front store is completely non-smoking, so I personally prefer this one. Banba-ya has recently opened a new store for the first time in 2 years in Juso, the first landing in Kansai, followed by the opening of the Osaka Station Building No. 3 store on the 7th and the Tennoji store on the 26th. It has become a subsidiary of Active Source Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Marugame Seimen Co., Ltd. Tridoll Holdings Group, and it seems that the rapid advance has finally begun (laughs). I had the "Assorted Sashimi" (500 yen) ... bonito, white fish, and koshodai(?). The handling of fish goes beyond the level of an izakaya. During the Corona pandemic, when in-store dining was suspended, they were selling seafood at the storefront, making it look like a real fishmonger. "Beef Tongue Stew" (350 yen) ... a little less volume, but the taste is authentic like a downtown Western-style restaurant. The demiglace is delicious, and I would like some baguette if possible. "Iwashi Tempura (2 pieces)" (190 yen) ... a grand menu item, but surprisingly delicious. It's divine. At first, sprinkle the coarse salt on the counter, and it's hot, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. To be able to enjoy "mouth pleasure" at this price, as expected of Banba-ya. The drinks I had were "Draft Yuzu Highball" (330 yen) and "Golden Chuhai" (290 yen). * All prices are including tax. [Amazing Points] A friend of the common people. Cheap and delicious above all. [It would be nice if...] Nothing in particular. Despite some price revisions due to recent increases in raw material costs, they are still affordable and doing their best. I hope the standing drinking culture will spread even more, as I believe it is a culture that Japan can be proud of. There are standing bars in countries like the UK and Italy where you can drink standing up, but the fact that you can also have a meal at these establishments is unique to Japan. I hope they will continue to attract inbound demand. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal.
