二日酔い飯
Blog: Hangover Meal at GILIOLA Instagram
GILIOLA is an Italian restaurant located on Roppongi Street that has been around for a long time. During lunchtime, they specialize in pasta and lasagna. Every time I pass by this restaurant, I am intrigued by the pleasant smell of garlic and olive oil wafting from it. The restaurant has an old charm to it, but the stylish atmosphere makes it feel like it's not in Tokyo. Inside, there are lively seats with chic chairs that give off a foreign vibe, as well as elegant table seats with tablecloths.
For lunch, they offer pasta lunch and steak lunch. Each set allows you to choose one pasta dish of your preference for the day, along with salad and dessert. The steak lunch comes with a generous serving of steak. The pasta options for the day included Pomodoro with fresh basil, white fish in slightly spicy tomato sauce, cream sauce with prosciutto and Chinese cabbage, and anchovy olive oil sauce with spear squid and Negi from Shimotsuma.
The pasta lunch set for 1,200 yen seems like a good deal. I chose the "anchovy olive oil sauce with spear squid and Negi from Shimotsuma" pasta for the day. The set started with a salad, which had a generous portion compared to typical lunch sets. It included tomatoes, baguette crumbs, and ham, making it feel a bit luxurious. The salad was a good way to get your vegetables in.
Next, the bread arrived, adding to the course-like experience. I drizzled the olive oil infused with chili pepper on the bread and enjoyed it. Then came the highlight of the meal - the "Spaghetti with spear squid and Negi from Shimotsuma in anchovy olive oil sauce." The pasta was generously topped with spear squid and crunchy Negi. The combination of tender spear squid, sweet and juicy Negi, and anchovy olive oil sauce was delicious. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the sauce coated the noodles well, resulting in a flavorful and satisfying dish.
Lastly, dessert was served! Overall, the free extra serving option made the lunch set quite filling from start to finish. For 1,200 yen, it was a great deal. The pasta used carefully selected vegetables, and the casual atmosphere gave off a vibe of an Italian eatery rather than a restaurant. It was a good find, and I plan to visit regularly.
