野良パンダム
First visit. An omelette rice specialty restaurant located a 3-4 minute walk from Shinjuku Station South Exit. A new business format from Kanda Tamago Ken, which has several stores in Tokyo and Fukuoka. Operated by TGK Co., Ltd. The signature menu item is the "Burg Over Omelette Rice," which features a hot hamburger patty on top of Kanda Tamago Ken's famous omelette rice. I arrived for dinner and the restaurant had available seats, but it was almost full, indicating its popularity. I purchased the meal ticket from the machine and then sat at the counter. I ordered the Hamburg & Sausage Omelette Rice (1690 yen) with a large portion of rice (free large portion) and chose the demi-glace sauce for the omelette. The restaurant is quite small, with a cramped layout of counter seats and small tables. The space is tight, and moving around the restaurant can be a challenge. The soup was served promptly, a typical consomme type with bacon bits, which was a nice touch. There was also coleslaw on the table, which was all-you-can-eat, allowing for a generous serving of vegetables. The coleslaw had cumin seeds, giving it a unique flavor. The main dish, the omelette rice, was served in a hot skillet, creating a sizzling sound and steam that whet the appetite. If you want a paper apron, you can request one from the staff. The omelette rice, topped with demi-glace sauce, was a simple dish with scrambled egg on rice. The rice was lightly seasoned with garlic soy sauce butter (or margarine). Personally, I found the rice to be too strongly flavored, as the sauce was already rich. I prefer the traditional omelette rice where the egg is neatly wrapped around the rice. The hamburger patty was a classic style, not overly rare or juicy, but well-cooked. It paired well with the demi-glace sauce, although the sauce's flavor profile felt a bit flat. The sausage, which arrived later, was just a standard sausage. Overall, the meal was satisfying, with the coleslaw helping to balance out the rich flavors. This restaurant is recommended for those who enjoy omelette rice with a soft egg topping and strong flavors.
