Occasionally, I see Denny's parfaits in flyers and I always wanted to try it once. Feeling like having a parfait, and with not much time to spare, I quickly decided to come here. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Shinzaki exit of the Keiyo Highway, which is perfect for me as I don't drive through the city often. The place was empty when I arrived, but soon customers started coming in, showing that it's quite popular. The interior is typical of a family restaurant but surprisingly spacious with high ceilings, creating a decent atmosphere. The waitress brought a wet towel, but surprisingly no water. I was told to get it myself from the drink bar. Since starting to use Tabelog, I haven't been to family restaurants in years, so I was a bit surprised that water is now self-service. The menu has a variety of options, and today I decided on the Tochiotome The Sunday parfait. I asked if they had black tea, but was told they only have a drink bar. Seems like they are cutting costs on labor quite a bit. The parfait arrived in about 10 minutes, with layers of cream, strawberry sauce, vanilla ice cream, strawberry cream, strawberry jelly, cream mousse, granola, and strawberry sorbet. The structure seemed elaborate, but overall the flavors were quite bland. Compared to the patisserie parfaits I've had recently, everything from the strawberry flavor to the cream texture and milkiness felt lacking. The mousse was especially confusing, as without the menu description, it would be hard to identify. It made me realize the quality of a 477Kcal parfait at a family restaurant. Nonetheless, it was a reminder that patisserie parfaits are indeed delicious. In that sense, it was a learning experience.
