After 7 pm, I went to the basement of Mitsukoshi to get a bento. Many shops had discounts, but when I went to this shop, the black wagyu beef bowl was 40% off. Furthermore, with the shareholder discount, it became 46% off. The beef was tender and very good.

Let's cheer up, it's the Year of the Ox. So let's eat some beef and work hard for the year! I bought some beef for dinner, and it's delicious with a raw egg on top. The meat soaked in sukiyaki broth is amazing, but the star of the show is the wheat gluten. It's soaked in a sweet and savory broth that oozes out slowly, so good. The burdock root and onion add a nice texture and flavor, making you want more rice. Sprinkle some shichimi for extra kick, and you can enjoy it endlessly at home.

The problem is that the dressing can be chosen from shiso, onion, or sesame. The colorful vegetable and capellini salad is such a high level of feminine food, isn't it? It's definitely not enough, but due to limited meal time, I reluctantly chose it because I can eat it quickly and still get my vegetables. Capellini clearly goes well with tomatoes, so which dressing is best? It's a type of salad that is mixed well with vegetables, but what should I do? Shiso and onion are probably soy sauce-based, right? Sesame is definitely sesame. In the end, I decided to go with sesame! Sweet potatoes, fried eggplant, pumpkin, and cottage cheese with creamy sesame dressing are a perfect match. The capellini is thin enough that the tomatoes don't get in the way, and the mixing was just right. It wasn't too strong, and the tomatoes had a nice presence, and the sesame also paired quite well.

[Reason for visit] Finally, I visited the restaurant to find tonight's dinner in the underground area (*^^) I casually browsed through various stores (^_^) And! I found a product that I felt like eating, so I decided to order it (^ー^) [Visit time] July 21st (Sunday) around 13:05 (^o^)/ [Number of customers before me] 2 people (^∇^) [Ordered item] Garlic Roast Beef Salad with Mashed Potatoes (*^^*) [Reason for ordering] I chose this restaurant because I wanted to eat this particular dish (^-^*) [Sauce that came with the dish] Roast Beef Sauce Now, let's dig in m(._.)m Bon appétit [Impressions of the food] The roast beef was tender and easy to chew without any resistance from the meat (๑'ᴗ'๑) It had a minimal amount of fat, allowing the pure umami of the lean meat to shine through (^o^) You could taste the flavor and umami of the beef, with a hint of garlic fragrance (*^^*) The mashed potatoes were smooth and had a velvety texture (^o^) Although the sweetness of the potatoes was slightly subdued, it paired well with the beef, so it wasn't a problem at all ( ^_^) Among the salad greens, the sweetness of the red paprika stood out nicely (^-^*) The roast beef sauce had a soy base with a refreshing hint of vinegar, giving it a tangy flavor (^-^*) "Kakiyasu Dining," thank you for the delicious meal m(._.)m

Ginza Mitsukoshi is located on the 2nd floor of the basement, in the Delicatessen section. During the New Year's sale in 2019, like every year, they offer a lucky bag with meat (this year it was 3,331 yen including tax), as they are originally a beef hot pot restaurant. I decided to buy a salad for the New Year's celebration. This time, I purchased Garlic Roast Beef (100g for 1,301 yen including tax) and Yuzu Ponzu Eggplant (100g for 281 yen including tax). The meat was delicious, as the ingredients were of high quality, but the salad with the eggplant was also tasty with a moderate seasoning. There are about three Delicatessen sections in the area, with more than half of the space occupied by places with two English letters and one number. I wonder why that is?

It was 5 minutes before closing time at the restaurant, and there were only 3 options left: garlic shrimp, cream cheese potato salad, and white rice. I like both dishes that can be eaten from the head, and I enjoyed the meal for 1,080 yen.

*Kakiyasu Dining @ Ginza Located in the basement of Ginza Mitsukoshi department store, this popular deli offers a variety of dishes. I had the salad and bento box. The 30-item salad was amazing with a variety of vegetables like lotus root, carrots, pumpkin, daikon, red daikon, cucumber, burdock root, red and yellow bell peppers, lettuce, purple cabbage, celery, corn, potatoes, cabbage, edamame, chickpeas, mizuna, red beans, carrots, red onions... Oops, I think I missed some items, haha. The Black Wagyu beef rice bowl with green and yellow vegetables was delicious, with plenty of burdock root underneath the rice. The meat was incredibly tasty, and it went well with the vegetable stew on the side!

This is a shop in the Ginza Mitsukoshi department store basement that specializes in Japanese side dishes. There is a columnist in a weekly paper who writes about bento boxes, and one of the featured items was the black wagyu beef rice bowl. I couldn't find it in the bento section, but I found a similar black wagyu beef rice bowl at a related store in the side dishes section. They also offer a bento box with half of the rice bowl. The price is affordable, but I decided to go with the rice bowl as recommended in the weekly paper. It costs 1200 yen before tax. The beef has a rich fat content, but it tastes great when heated. The rice is made from Inada rice from Oku-Izumo, but I couldn't tell the difference. The portion size is on the smaller side. Pickles are included as well.

I had a meeting in Ginza, so I bought a bento box here. I couldn't resist the colorful vegetables as I realized I needed more veggies in my diet. The staff member was kind, and the packaging was neat, which made me feel good. It was around 710 yen. The vegetables had a healthy seasoning, not too strong or weak. It went well with the rice. The grilled chicken skewers and simmered hijiki seaweed were also delicious and satisfying. I will definitely buy from here again when I visit Ginza.

HIROSHIMA OYSTER

This year has also begun. I love oysters, so during this season, I often find myself lost while walking through the department store basement looking for oyster dishes. Of course, I can't miss the classic Kakiyasu dining. This year, they are offering two types of dishes: Hiroshima oyster fry and Hiroshima oyster with burdock in oyster mayonnaise (Nez sauce). In the past, the oysters were limited to Onomichi in Hiroshima, but is it different this year? Nevertheless, the dishes are delicious again this year. The oyster fry seems to be bigger than last year, and the balance between the flavor of the oyster and the crispy bread crumbs is perfect! The oyster mayo dish has a nice combination of crunchy burdock and mayonnaise sauce. The oysters are also prepared like fritters, which made them very enjoyable to eat.

Since watching a TV show, possibly on TV Tokyo, about the greatness of Kakizan (the show mentioned that they have their own kitchen in various department stores), I started buying their products. Before that, when it came to department store salad and side dishes, I would always go for RF1. Yeah, I understand why it's popular. The quality of the shrimp itself wasn't particularly high, and it wasn't super plump, but the flavor was good! It makes you want to say, "Yeah, this is nice!" It seems like they've embodied the idea that if you do ordinary things well, you can become popular and maintain that popularity. Even though RF1 will still be my main choice, I plan to occasionally try Kakizan as well. I remember the show mentioning that they emphasize monochromatic dishes, but personally, I like the soft colors and harmonious blend of colors, rather than the vividness of RF1. June 19, 2015 (3.28)

I tried buying some deli items for the first time at Kakiyasu Dining. The avocado green potato salad contains broccoli, edamame, and avocado mixed with potato salad. The dressing was green, but I couldn't tell what flavor it was. The taste was a bit bland. The marinated eggplant and yam had a nice flavor, but the yam was a bit oily as it seemed to be fried with batter. It costs 280 yen per 100g. The salmon tartare was mostly salmon with some onion and a little cucumber mixed in, not really tasting like tartar sauce. I added lettuce to it. It costs 380 yen per 100g. The jumbo shrimp mayo had thick fried shrimp, more like tempura, topped with a sweet mayonnaise that seemed like a cheap imitation. It's quite expensive at 629 yen per 100g, considering you get only two pieces for that price. Although it seemed to have good reviews, I might not buy it again as it's pricey.

I had the opportunity to attend a lesson by a very interesting and talented individual who specializes in elegant interior design. Before the lesson, I decided to stay overnight in Tokyo to enjoy a little trip. After exploring some elegant interior design stores and a high-end brand store, I found myself feeling satisfied and happy. When it was time for dinner, I couldn't decide where to eat, so I ended up at a restaurant in a department store. I was overwhelmed by the variety of delicious options, but eventually settled on a marinated salad with eggplant and yam. The eggplant was soft and flavorful, while the yam had a crunchy texture on the outside and a soft inside. It was a refreshing and satisfying dish that helped cleanse my palate after trying some heavier dishes. Overall, I was very happy with my choice and enjoyed a moment of happiness amidst my busy day.

On a holiday, I went to Ginza with my child for some errands. We were feeling a bit hungry and discovered that Mitsukoshi had a parent-child floor on the newly renovated 9th floor. We decided to grab something to eat at the depachika. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the "Shinshu miso grilled skewers," so please forgive me and just accept the receipt as proof. The skewers consisted of three pieces of chicken thigh meat, similar to yakitori. Each piece was quite large, about three bites for an adult. Since it was a takeout, it was inevitable that they were a bit cold, but the chicken had a nice bounce to it, and the miso flavor was sweet yet distinctly Japanese. It was incredibly delicious! Even my toddler, who isn't a fan of meat or fish, exclaimed, "I want more!" and finished everything. Eating skewers might get your hands a bit messy, but don't worry, just dive in and enjoy. Despite the generous portion size, each skewer was only 210 yen (pre-tax increase), making it very affordable compared to other items. I highly recommend giving it a try! (laughs)

Delicious! Green onion-covered chicken nuggets for 224 yen/100g. The photo shows 237g, with plenty of green onions! The slightly spicy and rich flavor of the Nanban sauce is appetizing. Chef's recommended appetizer for 1,575 yen includes shrimp mayo (with salmon roe on top, large and juicy), shrimp and scallop vegetable marinade (light), potato salad (generous portion), onion marinade, roast beef, and a salad with 30 different ingredients for 380 yen/100g. The photo shows 242g with a creamy dressing, either sesame or sesame and shiso, I chose both sesame. It's nice to have plenty of ingredients, right?
