The pickles were a mix of paprika, cucumber, daikon radish, and cauliflower, served in a generous portion. The bacon-wrapped tomatoes were skewered and lightly grilled, served with mayonnaise on the side. I only had two beers, but the menu offered beer, wine, highball, and oolong tea highball, among others. The restaurant also hosts parties with a 2-hour all-you-can-drink option for around 4,000 yen. Overall, it's a cool place to stop by for a beer in the evening. The restaurant card had the name of the manager, Shibu Tatsuya. I wonder if that's his real name. It's quite a flashy name. Perhaps the restaurant name "Ast'er" is related to his name. I'm not sure what "Ast'er" means, but it sounds like a type of flower called Aster.

I visited around 12:30 on a regular day. The place was bustling with local office workers, and the table seats were all taken. They offer three reasonably priced lunch options: A. Hamburger ¥790 B. Dry Meat Curry ¥790 C. Spicy Carbonara Pasta ¥820 (Coffee set +¥160). Since it was my first visit, I decided to go with the hamburger. It came with a generous amount of lettuce, which was nice. The sauce on the hamburger was slightly sweet, more on the easy-to-eat side rather than rich. The meat wasn't very juicy, but it was still tasty. Personally, I prefer stronger flavors, so I wish the sauce and meat had more punch. Also, I like my sunny-side-up eggs a bit more runny. Overall, it's not bad for a quick lunch nearby. After finishing my meal, I enjoyed the iced drink which was also very good. I hope to come back next time and try the evening menu at A.

We were seated at a two-person table near the entrance. The restaurant was small, with about 20 seats and it quickly filled up. The menu had three options: hamburger, minced cutlet, and spaghetti aglio e olio. I chose the hamburger for ¥760. As soon as we placed our order, miso soup and rice were brought to us at a speed that reminded me of Sakurazushi (laughs). I was puzzled by how quickly the food came out, and soon after, the hamburger arrived. The visual of the hamburger with a sunny-side-up egg was appealing. However, the hamburger, which was finely ground and lacked a meaty texture, didn't suit my preference for coarsely ground meat. As I noticed that almost all the other customers had ordered the minced cutlet, I realized my mistake. Was it the minced cutlet here? I thought. The relatively low price of ¥760, compared to other places in the area, was a downside for me, but the fast service, almost like fast food, seemed to appeal to the nearby business people.

Just a little further down the street from the famous bread hotel "Arietta" and the original store of Korean restaurant "Chegoya," there is a quiet dining bar. The place is very small, with about 5 counter seats and 3 tables. The menu consists of a mix of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes under the concept of "creative cuisine." The dishes are not fusion-style, but each one is a solid creation. On the day of the visit, dishes like simmered wagyu beef tendon and salmon cream fettuccine were ordered. While the regular menu is intriguing, only the recommended dishes were tried that day. The variety of drinks is also abundant, with shochu, wine, cocktails, and more available to complement the food. However, the prices are slightly on the high side. This place is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Gotanda, where you can relax and enjoy some delicious food and drinks according to your mood.
