I never get off at stations where I have no business, but when I got off at Hikifune Station around noon, there was a sign right in front of me for a tempura rice bowl! I usually don't go to chain restaurants, but luckily there were only big chains around the station. I thought there wouldn't be much in this small town, but just then, I found a small individual restaurant called Marufuku Tempura Rice Bowl. I was torn, but the half-cooked egg caught my eye, so I went for the Marufuku Tempura Rice Bowl. The shrimp was big and crispy, with two pieces of deep-fried shrimp. There were also bell peppers, eggplants, shimeji mushrooms, pumpkin, and maybe thinly sliced ginger tempura. It was quite a generous portion. The half-cooked egg was not a tempura egg, but more like a poached egg, served on top of the rice and sauce. It was delicious! I'm sorry I underestimated Hikifune. There are good restaurants here after all. I will definitely stop by again if I have the chance! Thank you for the meal.

This is a tempura rice bowl restaurant located right in front of the Hikifune Station on the Tobu Skytree Line! I visited for lunch. I arrived close to 12 o'clock, just missing the opening time, but I was able to sit down easily. I wanted to try both conger eel and shrimp, so I ordered the special tempura rice bowl. I also added a half-cooked egg tempura on top. The owner was running the restaurant alone, so once he went into the kitchen, he didn't leave the tempura pot at the back, making it difficult to add the extra tempura. I managed to add it in time, and when it was ready, it arrived at my table! Now, as for the taste... After 12 o'clock, the restaurant quickly filled up, and the owner hardly had time to serve customers. Those who came later had a hard time ordering. The special tempura rice bowl had conger eel, two shrimp, vegetables, and the added egg tempura. The vegetables included bell peppers, burdock root, and ginger, and there was a lot of them. It also came with salad, miso soup, and all-you-can-eat pickles. The conger eel was a whole piece, and the shrimp were quite large and tasty. The tempura had a nice crispy texture. The portion of tempura was so generous that I ran out of rice. After finishing my meal and heading to the register to pay, the owner was busy frying tempura for customers who came later. Despite trying to get his attention multiple times, he didn't notice me until he finished frying. Overall, it was a good restaurant with great value, but the service could be improved.

After returning from going out, I had lunch. I got off at Hikifune Station and went to the same restaurant as last time in front of the station. I ordered the special tendon with conger eel, 2 prawns, sand borer, carrots, and green peppers, just like last time. They served me warm tea, but since there was also cold water available for self-service, I decided to have that while waiting. Soon, the tendon arrived, along with a small salad, miso soup, and pickles. The conger eel was incredibly flavorful, and the prawns were crispy and delicious with a rich sauce. I managed to finish the meal without feeling overwhelmed by the oil or the richness of the sauce. It was a satisfying meal.

I visited a small restaurant near Hiki-Zushi Station West Exit, just a 1-minute walk away, around 13:10 on a weekday. The interior of the restaurant is small, with space for about 10 people, but it has a cozy atmosphere. They offer 5 lunch menu options, with the recommended dish being the "Hanaten Don" but I opted for the "Marufuku Tendon (¥800-)" which has an extra tempura shrimp for ¥50 more. I waited for about 10 minutes, listening to the sound of tempura frying, before being served miso soup, a small salad, and the Marufuku Tendon. The miso soup had tofu and seaweed, simple but with a nice seaweed texture. The Marufuku Tendon included 2 shrimp, 1 kisu fish, vegetables, and a half-cooked egg. The shrimp were small but flavorful, and the kisu fish was plump and tasty. The vegetables included bell pepper, burdock root, and carrot, each prepared with care. The half-cooked egg was a perfect finish, eaten with the leftover rice. For this price, the quality was excellent and I look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch was at a tempura bowl restaurant near Hikifune Station. Although there was also a branch of Tenya at Tobu Hikifune Station, I visited with the aim of trying the special tempura bowl with one piece of conger eel. I entered the restaurant and confirmed the lunch menu again, and ordered the special tempura bowl (1 piece of conger eel, 2 shrimp, whiting, vegetables) for 900 yen. The served special tempura bowl came with a mini salad and miso soup. The conger eel and shrimp were overflowing from the bowl. I started by eating the shrimp, which had a crispy and crunchy batter, a bit oily but quite tasty. The whiting was also delicious. The rice was well coated with sauce. The main conger eel was tender with a good crispy texture on the batter. The vegetables included carrots. It was a bit disappointing that the miso soup was lukewarm. Thank you for the meal.

Great value for money! The special mixed seafood rice bowl (900 yen) includes 2 shrimp, eel, horse mackerel, eggplant, carrot, and burdock. I read a review mentioning that the eel had a strong taste, so I was a bit worried when I went, but the eel actually had a delicious flavor. Also, the carrot was surprisingly soft and tasty. The portion was generous and I left feeling very satisfied!

※※Visit on May 17, 2019※※ - Marufuku Tempura Rice Bowl 1,100 yen - Oolong Highball 380 yen I visited "Marufuku" in front of Hikifune Station, a place I had been curious about for a while. The large curtain at the entrance had the word "tempura" written on it. The restaurant had a cozy izakaya-style atmosphere. I ordered the "Marufuku Tempura Rice Bowl" which included shrimp, conger eel, whiting, megochi, and squid. It came with miso soup with seaweed and pickles. The bowl was quite large and looked very appetizing. The sauce was a slightly sweet soy-based sauce, dark in color. It was really delicious. Next time, I would like to order tempura a la carte and enjoy it with a drink.

I went to have lunch. It was 11:45 and there was only one seat available at the 6-seat counter. I ordered the Haten Donburi for 650 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The tempura was crispy and delicious. In particular, the egg tempura had a creamy yolk that was delicious when combined with the other tempura. You can add the Tamaten for an additional 100 yen. I was also happy that it came with fresh vegetables. It also came with miso soup, and I think both the cost performance and taste are better than nearby chain restaurants.

Marufuku Tendon, priced at 950 yen. The shrimp is large and topped with a half-cooked egg, so very satisfying.

I visited the restaurant for the first time in a while, and even though there were fewer customers due to the coronavirus, it was a relaxing visit. Today, I had the premium tempura bowl, which was very filling and reasonably priced. The tempura fried by the owner was delicious.

On my way home, it was raining, and I found a similar restaurant near the station, but I decided to go to a proper one. They had "Tendon" and "Spicy Tendon" displayed outside. I was curious about what Spicy Tendon was, so I asked. It turned out to be a dish with shrimp, squid, fish, pumpkin, and lotus root, but with a sauce containing habanero. I couldn't resist and ordered the Spicy Tendon with hot sake. The combination of the dry sake and the spiciness of the habanero sauce was perfect! The tempura was also crispy. It was delicious! I will definitely come back again.

I got off at Tobu Hikifune Station while on my way and noticed a sign that said "Tempura Rice Bowl." Intrigued, I took a look at the menu and saw that they offered a tempura rice bowl for 600 yen. I decided to go in and ordered the tempura rice bowl, which came with 2 shrimp, horse mackerel, vegetable tempura, miso soup, and salad for 600 yen, which is quite reasonable! The taste was a bit too strong for my liking, so I think I'll revisit during a time when I need to replenish my salt intake due to excessive sweating.
