I have been going to Shiba Koen more often lately due to work. There aren't as many lunch options around the Mita Line Shiba Koen area as I thought, so I was sometimes unsure of where to go. However, this time I went to the restaurant I wanted to try. The restaurant, with the sign "Ebisu Gyoza," has a total of 5 branches in Tokyo. This particular branch is located between Shiba Koen Station and JR Hamamatsucho Station, making it a convenient spot for lunch. The interior has a counter with around 6-7 seats and about 40 table seats. I went around 1 pm and more than half of the seats were already taken. The lunch menu was also displayed outside the restaurant. I was undecided on what to order, but I ended up choosing the Black Vinegar Healthy Sweet and Sour Pork lunch set, which came with shumai and potato salad. The pork was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The sauce was rich but not overwhelming. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy, and the onions were sweet. The shumai was small but delicious, likely homemade. I found this restaurant to be a delightful place to look forward to when visiting Shiba Koen. I think I will come here for lunch next time too.

After finishing work, I decided to take a walk towards Shibadaimon area. I was craving for some dumplings, so I looked around and found a branch of Ebisu Gyoza. It was a bit of a walk from the station, so it felt quite empty inside. The dumplings were larger in size, so each one was quite satisfying to eat.

-Mabo tofu and oil-splashed chicken set (1,000 yen) -Original Ebisu dumplings, 2 pieces (400 yen) Visited on 3/24, a weekday at 13:00. About 70% full. Food was served at 13:10. Pros: The dumplings were not the juicy type but rather firm, providing a satisfying bite. Cons: The mabo tofu and oil-splashed chicken were lacking in volume as I opted for the half-size lunch set. The best order at this restaurant seems to be the lunch set of 5 dumplings (900 yen). Thank you for the meal.

Yes. It's lunchtime as usual. It's close to 1 pm and a bit late. Normally, I would always end up heading towards Mita, but this time, I didn't have time to go that far and decided to quickly enter this Chinese restaurant that I hadn't been to before. Although I was in the mood for noodles, as I looked at the lunch menu, I started craving rice, so I chose the weekly special "Pork and Egg Oyster Stir-Fry Don Set." In less than 10 minutes, the dish was served. The main stir-fry dish had fluffy eggs and crunchy bean sprouts. It was packed with vegetables and balanced oyster flavor. It was really good. The side dish was like a small portion of fried chicken with a sweet and sour sauce. It came with three pieces, which felt like a good deal. The crispy texture with the sweet and sour sauce that was rich in scallions and ginger was just as expected. It also came with some dumplings. Hmm, the value for money is great. The rice was cooked slightly firm, which I liked. Yes, I'm full now. Thank you for the meal. Next, should I go for some dumplings?

[Shiba Chinese Attack 6th restaurant] A restaurant with deceptive signage. I visited at 12:10 on a weekday. I ordered the lunch menu set C, which included mini tan-tan noodles and five-flavor fried rice. After waiting for over 10 minutes, the dishes were finally served. I couldn't help but open the paper menu to compare the dishes, and I found that the fried rice was completely different. The menu showed a colorful variety of ingredients for the five-flavor fried rice, but the dish served was just green peas, yellow eggs, and brown rice. I looked around and noticed other customers eating the same two-ingredient fried rice. It seemed that this was the restaurant's way of doing things, not a mistake. I started eating. The tan-tan noodles had a moderately spicy soup and chewy noodles. I thought that wavy noodles might make the sauce stick better, but the minced meat, shredded chili peppers, and green onions combined well and tasted delicious. The two-ingredient fried rice had few ingredients, but the flavor was solid, and I couldn't stop eating. It came with pickles and two small plates of shumai. I questioned the necessity of pickles in this set, but I guess they come with all sets. The shumai was tasty. It wasn't hot at all, probably to prevent burns. I realized that I still have a lot to learn about Chinese restaurants, where deception and rudeness may be common practices, while Japanese restaurants are overly polite. I enjoyed the meal. Thank you.

The weather was nice as I wandered and ended up here. The nira-tama donburi, yurinchi (which is almost like karaage), and shumai were mediocre, but the daily special for 1000 yen was good. It felt a bit expensive, but it's nice that they serve lunch until late. The gyoza seems to be the most famous, so that might be the best choice.

Today, work ran into lunchtime again, so I went to "Daitoyuki" near the office. Their specialty is the Ebisu Gyoza, so I always order the "Original Ebisu Gyoza Lunch" set. Even though there are only 5 gyoza, they are packed with meat and even have shrimp inside, making them very filling. While they are a different type from the winged gyoza I used to eat frequently when my office was in Kamata, they were still delicious.

Despite being named after Ebisu Gyoza, this restaurant did not have gyoza on the lunch menu. However, a gyoza set meal was introduced for lunch, featuring five gyoza dumplings filled with juicy meat and shrimp, reminiscent of a luxurious saba fish. The rice is refillable, and the pickled vegetables and seaweed soup are also excellent. The gyoza set meal may seem expensive at 900 yen, but the quality and satisfaction are worth it. The gyoza is made with high-quality pork and shrimp, offering a rich and satisfying flavor without feeling greasy. It can be described as a sophisticated "uptown" gyoza. The restaurant also offers delicious tantanmen, although during a recent visit, it was overly salty. Hopefully, it was just a one-time occurrence. Overall, it's great to be able to enjoy gyoza for lunch in a gyoza restaurant.

On Friday at 12:20, the restaurant was full and I had to wait for 2-3 minutes. I was seated at the counter and ordered the weekly special A set. I think it was pork with leeks and bean sprouts stir-fry. It was ready in about 5 minutes. I ordered extra rice and you can also get a refill on the bowl. The pork and bean sprouts had a delicious, fragrant aroma from being cooked at high heat. It was a taste that I couldn't replicate at home, so I found it quite valuable with just one bite. However, the pork was a bit thin in quality. The three pieces of sesame chicken were a bit dry, like leftovers from a supermarket deli that had been sitting for a day, so unfortunately, I left them uneaten. Considering the additional cost, it was disappointing. The shrimp dumplings that came with the set were probably frozen, and while the set seemed like a good deal, it didn't feel that way in the end. However, the portion size was satisfying, and the main dish seemed well-prepared, so overall, it wasn't too bad.

During my time working in Ebisu, I often visited Otoyoshi, and recently I went to their Shibadaimon branch for the first time. After some hesitation, I ordered the lunch set B. This set includes Sichuan-style mapo tofu over rice, half portion of oil-drizzled chicken, dim sum, and soup, making it a delightful meal for food lovers. The dim sum dumplings were of average quality, but the mapo tofu over rice and oil-drizzled chicken were both decent in taste. The freshly fried oil-drizzled chicken, coated in a green onion sauce, was irresistible, and the Sichuan-style mapo tofu over rice had a refreshing mouthfeel. Despite having such a good lineup of dishes, I finished the meal in no time and even felt a bit unsatisfied. Sets like this Chinese cuisine set menu are truly a source of happiness.

I had never been to this chain of restaurants before, so I decided to give it a try. The dumplings were surprisingly large, with about 4 or 5 of them filling me up. The regular dumplings were tasty with good quality ingredients, but the seafood dumplings were by far my favorite.

I wonder what Ebisu Gyoza is... Every time I pass by the shop, I am curious. The main store is located in Ebisu, but I decided to visit this branch instead of going all the way to the main store, thinking that the taste would be the same. I entered the shop around 1:30 pm on a weekday. Although there was no line, about 80-90% of the counter seats and table seats were occupied. I was seated at the counter alone. What I ordered: Original Ebisu Gyoza Lunch Set (900 yen). Without hesitation, I chose the gyoza. It arrived relatively quickly after ordering. The thick skin was crispy and the visual presentation was excellent. First, I tried it without dipping it in sauce. My first impression when I lifted the gyoza was... "it's heavy" haha. The meat juice oozed out, it was amazing! Even without dipping it in sauce, the umami of the meat and ingredients spread in my mouth and it was delicious! But more than that, the substantial feeling of the filling was incredible! The ingredients were packed tightly without any gaps, and I was extremely satisfied with this volume! I was happy with the amount of meat, and the addition of shrimp and other ingredients inside was impressive! This is a gyoza that I can proudly recommend to others, you must try it at least once! The soup was a bit too spicy with too much pepper, but the white rice was free for refill (although I didn't get any). It was a very satisfying lunch. The tantanmen looked delicious too, so I definitely want to revisit. Thank you for the meal! ★

I wanted to have Ebisu Gyoza after a long time, so I went to Ohtoyoki near my office. I ordered the "Original Ebisu Gyoza Lunch" of course. The gyoza tasted delicious with a lot of meat on my first visit, but not so much on my second visit. For me, the best gyoza is still the one I used to eat frequently near my previous workplace, at "Kangeki" (Kamata Main Store).

Taste: Okay Portion size: Average Memorable dish: Gyoza Menu variety: Average Atmosphere: Average Cost performance: Average Customer service: Average Would revisit: If given the chance The mapo tofu is spicy with a lot of Sichuan pepper, the taste is average. The Youlinji is just fried chicken with green onion sauce on top. The fried rice was a bit disappointing. The tantanmen is decently delicious. The gyoza has large fillings, juicy and very tasty.

With 65 minutes left until closing time, I stumbled upon a restaurant with a sign that read "Original Ebisu Gyoza" and decided to go in for dinner. I ordered a beer right before the alcohol cutoff time and then ordered the original Ebisu Gyoza (2 pieces) and a side dish of sweet and sour pork. The restaurant seems to be particular about using domestic ingredients, as they mentioned using domestic pork and vegetables. The Ebisu Gyoza was larger than regular gyoza and had a chewy skin, providing a satisfying texture. They mix domestic pork with Iberico pork, giving the meat a sweet flavor. Surprisingly, they don't use garlic in the gyoza. I was curious why it was called Ebisu Gyoza, but the answer was inside the gyoza itself - it contained succulent small shrimp, adding an interesting texture. The sweet and sour pork had pumpkin in it, which I found to be an interesting addition. The combination of slightly spicy sauce and sweet pumpkin worked well together. If there wasn't a time limit, I would have ordered another beer!

On New Year's Eve, I rode my road bike from my home in Yokohama to Tokyo to enjoy some ramen. Unfortunately, all the ramen shops I wanted to try were closed due to the pandemic, so I wandered around feeling disappointed. I happened to stumble upon this place. I parked my bike and went inside. Surprisingly, I was the only customer in the restaurant on New Year's Eve during the pandemic. I wanted to try the spicy Szechuan dishes, so I chose the lunch set with Szechuan mapo tofu rice bowl and half portion of oil-splashed chicken. The mapo tofu had a hint of Szechuan peppercorn, but it lacked the numbing and spicy flavors. The oil-splashed chicken was just ordinary fried chicken, I wish they had put more effort into it. This meal cost me ¥1,000 in Tokyo. Maybe I should have tried their signature dumplings instead.

Today, I visited Ebisu Gyoza Daifukuki Shibadaimon. Ebisu Gyoza Daifukuki Shibadaimon is a Chinese restaurant specializing in gyoza located about a 12-minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station. The original Ebisu Gyoza Daifukuki is located in Ebisu, with branches in Naka-Meguro, Suidobashi, and Ikebukuro, and I visited the Shibadaimon branch this time because I wanted to eat gyoza. Upon entering the restaurant, I ordered the following dishes: Seafood Gyoza, which includes squid, shrimp, and scallops. The flavor was a bit light on the umami side. Gyoza with glutinous rice and five kinds of fried ingredients, a Cantonese dim sum dish. Personally, I found it a little bland for my taste, but perhaps it is meant to be light because it is Cantonese cuisine. Soft pork loin with a hint of black vinegar, a sweet and sour pork dish. The crispy texture of the pork was delicious, but I wish there was a bit more meat. What surprised me this time was the sincerity of the service staff. The friendly and pleasant service made me feel comfortable, and the staff's hospitality was so nice that it enhanced the restaurant's charm. It made me realize how important good service is. Thank you for the meal.

First visit. This shop is located a 4-5 minute walk from Shibakoen Station. It has a pretty impressive exterior and a nice atmosphere inside. I visited around 2 pm on a weekday and it was about half full. Last order is at 2:30 pm and they close at 3 pm. Unfortunately, I couldn't try the Ebisu Gyoza as it was lunchtime. The main store is in Ebisu, as the name suggests. I ordered the specialty Tan Tan Men without soup for 950 yen and asked for white rice as a side. It was served in less than 10 minutes. The dish looked appetizing with the chili oil on a white plate. In addition to the Tan Tan Men, it came with soup, white rice, pickled cucumbers, and one shumai. The shumai and pickles were okay. The soup was a simple seaweed and egg soup. The Tan Tan Men had cherry tomatoes, pumpkin, shredded chili, greens, minced meat, and green onions on top of curly noodles. The noodles were chewy and slightly firm, which I liked. However, it was salty and very spicy from the chili oil. The minced meat had a decent flavor but it dominated the overall taste. It felt like you had to mix it well and eat the rice as a side dish to balance the flavors. Maybe I should have ordered the Gyoza set without worrying about the smell. The lunch sets seemed like a good deal, and everyone else was ordering sets. I probably made the wrong choice, so next time I'll try something different. Thank you for the meal.

The other day, I had some delicious dumplings in Utsunomiya and I suddenly felt like eating them again. This time, I visited a place that had been featured in the media, so I had some expectations. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice and the staff were friendly. I ordered the "Original Ebisu Dumpling Lunch" (¥900). When it comes to dumplings, people often talk about them being juicy, but the dumplings at this restaurant were not particularly juicy (although not dry either). The taste was mysteriously delicious, not just about being juicy. The overall flavor was well-balanced, with a crunchy texture that seemed to come from shrimp. I initially thought that 5 dumplings might not be enough, but they were actually quite filling. Each dumpling was a good size. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish them all, but they were so tasty that I had no problem finishing them. The dumpling skin and filling were slightly firm. The accompanying soup was a bit spicy. Overall, the food was delicious, but it didn't have any particularly distinctive features. Perhaps this is intentional to cater to the daily lunch crowd, as having a unique taste every day might lead to getting tired of it.

The lunch is a bit pricey at 1000 yen, but it comes with gyoza, soup, and pickles. The taste is a unique blend of Chinese and Japanese flavors, which makes it delicious. However, the staff seems to be too busy due to the high number of customers, leading to somewhat rude behavior and language.

I tried the signature menu item "Original Ebisu Gyoza Lunch" at Daiho-ki. It was my first time trying Ebisu Gyoza, and compared to the more common pan-fried gyoza with wings, it had a lot of meat and was delicious. I even thought about planning a trip to the original Ebisu just to try more Ebisu Gyoza.
