I visited the Shibuya Scramble Square where they had a temporary shop. I bought a coffee scone on a whim, but when I warmed it up in the toaster later, I was pleasantly surprised (✯◡✯). The crispy texture and the flavor of coffee spread in my mouth, changing my concept of scones completely. I regretted eating it at night, but it was definitely worth it♪ If they set up shop again, I will definitely purchase it.

I discovered a temporary food stall in my neighborhood through Tabelog, and because it had high ratings, I couldn't resist buying some. The creamy pudding was delicious, as well as the slightly firm Itabashi pudding. Both were good, but the apple pie was particularly tasty. (I ate it before taking a photo...)

I arrived at Bakery Effar Kawamura-ya 20 minutes before the opening time of 9:00 AM. Since there is only space for one car in the parking lot, I parked and waited. Unexpectedly, I had soba for breakfast and was the first customer to enter right at 9:00 AM. The service by the staff was very friendly. ❤️ I chose the following pastries: Cream Pan (180 yen), Mini Melon Pan (80 yen), Mini Wiener Pan (100 yen), Mini Anpan (100 yen), and Smooth Creamy Pudding Standard (127 yen). The Cream Pan had a strong and crispy crust that I liked, with plenty of custard cream inside. The cream was thick and not too sweet, which I enjoyed. ★3.5 The Mini Melon Pan had a crispy exterior and a hint of sweetness, a perfect example of melon bread. ★3.5 The Wiener Pan had a good flavor of sausage and mayonnaise. ★3.4 The Anpan had white and black sesame seeds on top, with a regular sweet red bean paste inside. I wish the red bean paste was a bit smoother. ★3.3 I was happy with the variety in the mini series and would love to see more options in the future. All the pastries were carefully made and delicious, with a fluffy texture. The strong baking style of these pastries suits my preference. The Smooth Creamy Pudding Standard had a moderate sweetness and a rich taste of egg. The smooth and creamy texture was delightful. ★3.6 Thank you for the meal.

Efar Murayaya, who was participating in the event, offers various flavors of pudding! I purchased the creamy pudding for 360 yen. I was hoping it would be more creamy, but it was quite firm. Personally, I prefer a more creamy texture. It has a simple taste with a strong vanilla bean aroma. There is caramel at the bottom, which keeps it interesting! I finished it in no time! The size is small, so it's a bit pricey.

Purchased pudding at a event space. Premium THE pudding @ 450 yen. It uses only egg yolks. A pudding packed with the richness of egg yolks, with a chewy and firm texture. The size is quite small and disappears in no time. Caramel sauce is minimal. It goes well with a coffee break. Excellent match. Thank you for the meal.

Saturday around 2:00 PM revisit. I wanted to eat the bottled pudding at the station event and also felt like trying the standard version. There were about 20 types of bread displayed, but there were only a few left, maybe because it was the weekend. The eat-in area on the second floor is still suspended. Only cup versions of pudding were being sold, with some on special sale close to their expiration date. By the way, they are also available at Yorkmart in Azukizawa. I purchased: - "Smooth Creamy Pudding (¥108 → ¥80)" - "Plenty of Cream Bread (¥180)" Plus, the complimentary spoon was a nice touch. The "Cream Bread" had a limited time offer with 50% more custard. The cream was not overwhelmingly abundant but still delicious, although it didn't leave a lasting impression. The "Pudding" was a simple mix of cream, eggs, and sugar. It had a creamy texture, with the upper layer being slightly rich and the lower layer smooth. The caramel flavor was light and not overpowering, but it could also do without it. The pudding still offers a great value, and it's truly a masterpiece that makes you want to eat it again.

Kawamuraya, located along the Shuto Expressway near Nishi-dai Station, is a bakery known for its delicious pudding. It was voted as one of Ittippin in Itabashi by Itabashi residents. Ittippin in Itabashi includes popular local foods such as Nakano Seika's brown sugar karinto, Tsuruya's cafe au lait daifuku, Hitomoto Ishidaya's chestnut manju, Pierrot's crepes, and Tacos Smile's taco rice. The bakery also offers nostalgic bread like "San-Shoku Pan" which was quite enjoyable. The custard pudding is particularly delicious, with a rich and flavorful taste of eggs. It is made with no additives and sweetened with sanonto sugar, giving it a gentle sweetness. They use Oku-Kuji eggs for their pudding. Although it doesn't take you all the way back to the Showa era, you can still enjoy the nostalgic flavors of the Heisei period. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Purchased at an event at Funabashi Station. Bitter-sweet pudding -> When you put a spoon in, it feels firm, but as you eat it, the pudding melts in your mouth. The caramel is bitter-sweet, and delicious. Maple pudding -> The maple flavor is delicious, I liked it more than the bitter-sweet pudding. The firmness is similar to the previous one. There were many other varieties such as melting Itabashi pudding, matcha pudding, etc. I would like to buy them again.

There was a stall at Akabane Station, so I bought: Mango Pudding - a two-layer pudding with creamy pudding at the bottom, rich mango pudding on top, and mango puree and fruit pieces. It was very smooth and delicious. Strawberry Pudding - also two-layered with strawberry mousse and smooth milk pudding. Maple Pudding - lightly scented with maple, tasted like a normal pudding. Uji Matcha Pudding and Coffee Pudding - both had a bitter taste, suitable for adults. They were not too sweet, so people who don't like overly sweet desserts would enjoy them.

I'm a bakery, and I heard that their pudding is famous and delicious from my mother, so I bought it as a souvenir for the kids. It's a unique building with a variety of breads. The shop is popular locally. Originally, it was a liquor store? It seems like they are doing a variety of things. Among the various options, I chose the "toro nama" pudding. It wasn't as gooey as I expected, but had a rich texture. Personally, I like this level of firmness. The taste is not too strong, but gentle. There is caramel at the bottom, and it was even more delicious when mixed and eaten. It's priced somewhere between a department store basement and a convenience store, but the quality is quite good. It seems like it would be appreciated as a souvenir. In addition to plain, there are various flavors such as pumpkin and matcha, so I might get lost in choosing next time. I'll try a different flavor next time!

I purchased two puddings that caught my attention because they were being sold for a limited time in the Scramble Square. The most popular one seemed to be the Itabashi pudding, so I bought that along with a matcha pudding. Each pudding cost around 300 yen and came in a sturdy, thick glass jar. When I opened the lid and scooped some out with the spoon provided by the shop, I found them to be somewhat firm, with a hard layer about 1 centimeter thick on the surface. As I dug deeper, both puddings became smoother in texture. They were rich, had a good consistency, and were delicious.

This is a pudding called "Itabashi Pudding" that is being sold. I chose the standard flavor and had it at home. It is smooth and creamy, as advertised. It has a rich taste. The caramel is at the bottom and it is a normal flavor. The pudding itself costs over 300 yen. I am curious about trying the other flavors as well.

On the way back home, I was intrigued by the pudding at this shop, so I bought "Itabashi Pudding" and a pudding for my partner. When asked how long it would take for me to get home and if I needed a spoon, I thought they would include a cold pack and a spoon, but when I got home in about 1 hour, there was no cold pack in the bag... I felt a bit disappointed as to why they asked in the first place. The "Itabashi Pudding" cost 330 yen, and when I got home, I immediately tried it. Firstly, the pudding was in a glass container, and the expiration date was 6 days later, which seemed unusually long for a pudding (a perishable item). The lid stated "Smooth and Rich, Ultimate Finish Itabashi Pudding," and when I opened it, I noticed a lot of bubbles on the surface of the pudding. Upon tasting it, the texture was quite firm, lacking the smoothness expected from a pudding. It seemed like they may have used high heat to set it, resulting in a hard surface and interior layers that were too firm, possibly leading to the bubbles. Despite being described as "smooth and rich," it lacked the expected creamy texture. The use of a lot of heavy cream was noticeable, with a significant amount of fat content. The sweetness was not overpowering, which was a positive point, but considering the price of 330 yen per piece, I felt it was quite expensive. Thank you for the meal.

I bought a smooth pudding ("Itabashi's specialty") for 100 yen at a nearby supermarket and was surprised by its deliciousness and cost performance. Upon researching, I discovered a shop called Kawamura-ya near Nishidai Station, not far from my home. The Itabashi Times (blog) is full of information about restaurants in Itabashi, including this shop and news about a new high-end bread shop opening. The information about bread and high-end pudding (priced at 300 yen or more) being sold here is also available. When I arrived at the shop, I was amazed to find that the high-end pudding (mentioned in the Itabashi Times as being 300 yen or more) was actually priced at 150 yen. The bread was also priced at 230 yen per loaf. Everything is priced at Itabashi prices, which is great. Today's purchases: • Bread 3 loaves 690 yen (230 yen per loaf) made with Hokkaido wheat, Yumechikara variety. Made with homemade yeast, honey, and cream. It's incredibly moist. They advised me to wait 3 hours before cutting it, and even wrote "top" on the bag to ensure I didn't mix up the top and bottom. They also advised me not to flip the slices until cutting. The next day, I made a thick egg sandwich for lunch at work. The bread was still moist and delicious. Today, I'm bringing a blueberry jam sandwich. It's also delicious. The moistness and deliciousness are probably due to the honey added as a moisturizing ingredient, but it's not overly sweet. While high-end bread is being praised and sold for around 1,000 yen per loaf, this high-end bread doesn't fall short in terms of taste. It might even be better. I'm surprised by the high-end? bread at Itabashi prices. Depending on the time of day, you can buy it, but you can only buy three loaves of bread. It was a good decision to choose bread over hotel bread. I asked about the difference with hotel bread, and they said the difference lies in the shape and the fact that butter is added to the top right after baking. • I bought 5 types of pudding. 1. Itabashi Pudding... Plain 2. Itabashi Bitter... Custard pudding 3. Itabashi Coffee Pudding... Made with Guatemala organic coffee beans 4. Maple Pudding... Made with 100% pure Canadian maple sugar without additives 5. Uji Matcha Pudding... Made with carefully selected matcha, a rich and flavorful authentic pudding. I only got to try one piece of the high-end pudding, which was rich and delicious. However, I am satisfied with the standard 100 yen pudding. Next time, I'll stick with the 100 yen pudding. ===========

Bakery that also offers a variety of puddings. I purchased a coffee cream bun and the most basic pudding. The coffee cream bun is a pastry with coffee-flavored cream and whipped cream. It has a strong coffee flavor which I liked. The generous amount of whipped cream adds a perfect sweetness to it, making it a great snack. The pudding, priced at around ¥100, is surprisingly delicious! The bakery offers a wide variety of bread, making it convenient for everyday use. The pudding also seems like a good choice for a small gift.

Ikebukuro pudding (firm custard) is a type of pudding. As the name suggests, it is a firm pudding. While these days there are many creamy puddings available, there are still some places that offer this type of pudding. It is so firm that you might even wonder if it would be okay to turn it upside down (although I wouldn't recommend trying). You can fully enjoy the flavor of the eggs. When mixed with the caramel sauce at the bottom, it adds a bittersweet taste, creating a whole new flavor profile.

My wife, who is a fan of sweet treats, brought home something special. It's difficult to differentiate or improve the taste of well-known simple snacks or dishes that everyone is familiar with. Should they aim for something that appeals to everyone, or go for something that may not be liked by everyone but will be loved by some? This applies to confectioners, bakers, chefs, service staff, the atmosphere of the restaurant, management decisions, and various other aspects. But putting aside the technicalities, is "THE Pudding" true to its name, following the classic path? I personally really liked it.

This is a Bread & Pudding Review from Eiffel Kawamura-ya Nishidai Store, where despite the pudding being famous, surprisingly the bread was well-received at our home!
Bread & Pudding
- Baked Cheese Curry & Walnut Raisin Milk (180-200 yen)
A well-balanced curry bread with a crispy cheese topping. The walnuts are hard and crunchy, adding a nice texture. Goes well with a full-bodied red wine.
- Itabashi Pudding Supreme (258 yen)
The most popular choice, the supreme version is the way to go. Made with high-quality eggs, the flavor is rich and enjoyable.
The store mainly focuses on hard bread varieties, showcasing their best players. I ended up buying bread first and then remembered to buy the pudding later, rushing back to get it. Overall, it was a satisfying meal!
Aside: While discussing eggs at work, the staff shared their individual preferences and experiences with eggs. However, the conversation quickly shifted to small talk when one person mentioned their child's egg allergy.

I visited on October 13, 2018 (Saturday) at 12:45 pm. There were about 3 groups of customers when I entered. Located in Nishidai 2-chome, Itabashi-ku, Tokyo, about a 10-minute walk from Nishidai Station, near Daito Bunka University, this bakery also has an eat-in area. Due to the distance from the station, I think the main customers are university students. There are 15 seats on the second floor for eating in, and coffee is free. They have a wide variety of bread, including chicken sandwiches and raisin cheese bread, at reasonable prices typical of suburban stores. The smooth and creamy pudding chosen as one of Itabashi's specialties also seems to be popular. Efaru Kawamura-ya seems to have been in business for over 30 years and has a traditional and reliable reputation. The free coffee cups are quite small, but since it's free, it's reasonable. I think it's a good place to enjoy delicious bread. Efaru Kawamura-ya Nishidai store is a bakery near Daito Bunka University where you can enjoy free coffee in an eat-in area.

I had maple pudding for dessert after dinner. The maple pudding in a jar was a beautiful yellow color and looked very delicious. When I opened the lid, I saw brown maple syrup inside. I scooped up the pudding with a spoon, avoiding the syrup at first. The firm pudding had a great flavor and a refreshing texture, it was very tasty. When eaten with the maple syrup, the slight bitterness of the syrup and the perfect sweetness of the pudding matched perfectly and tasted delicious. I enjoyed the maple pudding so much that I made sure to clean out every last bit from the jar with my spoon.
