It feels like I jumped in right at the last minute during lunchtime, but they still served me lunch without showing any displeasure. For 700 yen, you can have a tonkatsu lunch, which I was very grateful for. It's only a 3-4 minute walk from the north exit of Higashi-Murayama Station. It's close to the station, but there is hardly any foot traffic, which is a shame. The tonkatsu is fried in a very difficult way, and I think it's done by a professional. The oil used might be lard because the aroma is strong. The rice is cooked perfectly and the pickles are well seasoned. All this for 700 yen is a steal. The pork loin katsu is 900 yen, so I might try that next time for a bit of a treat. I would rate it an 80 out of 100.

I had been to this restaurant a few times before because it allowed smoking, which was tough for me as a non-smoker, so I had been avoiding it. I recently saw a sign at the entrance saying that it was now non-smoking, so I decided to give it another try. I ordered the tonkatsu set meal for 700 yen. Before I talk about the taste, I have to mention that up to three people started smoking inside the restaurant while I was eating, which was a struggle for me. I thought it was supposed to be non-smoking now, but I ended up having my meal surrounded by smoke after a long time.

It is a restaurant associated with Hijikata Toshizo of the Shinsengumi. A colleague took me there during lunchtime. It is affordable and the portions are generous, so it is popular among office workers for lunch.

Come here for lunch on 18.2.24. This is a tonkatsu restaurant located a short distance from the east exit rotary of Seibu Shinjuku Line Higashi-Murayama Station, run by a veteran couple. It is said to be a shop with ties to the Shinsengumi's Hijikata Toshizo. I highly doubt that Hijikata Toshizo actually ate tonkatsu at this restaurant. Upon seeing the cooking license displayed in the shop, it all made sense - the last name was Hijikata. Hijikata Toshizo was their ancestor. The lunch menu consists mostly of items priced at 680 yen (refer to the photo), with the rosu katsu and hire katsu set priced at 880 yen. I ordered the rosu katsu set for lunch. There were no other customers, and the food was served in 7 minutes. The katsu had a light frying color, but the frying texture was not quite there. The bread crumbs were fine but had some larger pieces here and there. The size was decent, but the katsu lacked thickness. I was a bit disappointed, but when I tried it, the meat was tender and had a melting fat quality, quite delicious. This makes me look forward to the regular rosu katsu set priced at 1680 yen. The side dishes included a small amount of shredded cabbage, one slice of tomato, and a small portion of thin spaghetti. It felt a bit lacking. Additionally, there was pickled vegetables, seaweed, green onions, and miso soup with tofu. The value index was 0.91 for 800 yen/880 yen. For the content provided at 880 yen, I hope they put in a bit more effort. Thank you for the meal!

Visiting shops with numbers in their names has become my new hobby, so I decided to visit a shop with "eight" in its name. I ordered the tonkatsu set with cold tofu for 650 yen, which was quite a good deal. The tonkatsu was delicious - the thinly sliced pork loin, folded in half, reminded me of the popular dish Kimukatsu from the past. It may not have had a strong texture if you prefer something with more bite, but I could still taste the flavor of the meat and personally, I was satisfied. Looking at the dinner menu, I noticed the prices were higher compared to lunch, indicating a focus on quality ingredients. It made me realize that there are still hidden gems out there waiting to be discovered. Thank you for the meal.

■Reason for Choosing the Restaurant I was walking around after getting off the train, and the lunch menu caught my eye, so I decided to try it out. ■Order Tonkatsu set meal (650 yen) ■Impression I don't smoke, so when smoke starts to drift around, I feel like leaving the restaurant. As for the food, I think it's worth the price.
