I purchased a box of 4 pieces of Honjitsudo sandwiches for 680 yen as a souvenir from Honjitsudo in Ginza Six. The expiration date is about one month. When I tried them, I found that the inside of the Langue de Chat was made of meringue, which was a new twist. However, I wouldn't necessarily say they were delicious. The Langue de Chat alone would have been just fine.

I visited this shop in Ginza for business and was drawn to it. I heard that it is a sweets brand developed by the famous Sendai confectionery maker, Kashiya Sanzen. As a souvenir for my home, I purchased the following items: - "Honjitsudo Sand (8 pieces)" - 1,300 yen - This includes 4 pieces each of "plain" and "matcha" flavors. Both flavors have a new texture with a light crispy meringue sandwiched between langues de chat. The "plain" flavor, made with wasanbon sugar, has a gentle sweetness, while the "matcha" flavor has an elegant matcha aroma. Personally, I prefer the former, which is not too overpowering. This confectionery, which skillfully combines Japanese and Western elements, is likely to be well-received by many. It would be handy as a gift for various occasions. After work, I stopped by "Yamadori" on the second basement floor of G-SIX to pick up a seaweed bento. I also visited this store on the same floor, known for "Hagi no Tsuki" and "Zunda Shake" from the famous Sendai confectionery company Sanzen. It seemed like a new store to me, but it turns out it has been there since G-SIX opened in 2017, serving as the first store of their new brand. Their concept is "beyond Japanese sweets," offering a fusion of Japanese and Western essences in their new sweets. It is said to be popular among Johnny's talent agency, with their artists using these sweets for dressing room visits, etc. The store offers items like langue de chat and pie, leaning more towards the Western side compared to Sanzen. One item that caught my eye was the "mitarashi pancake," which is a small pancake sandwich with rice milk pudding filled with mitarashi sauce. It seemed interesting, but buying a lot seemed risky, so I bought a box of two for 380 yen (tax included). When I tried it at home, the outer pancake was fluffy, and the rice milk pudding was gentle in flavor with a mild sweetness. However, the mitarashi sauce inside felt a bit lacking in presence. It was fairly tasty and convenient to eat in small portions, but I felt it needed a bit more of a salty flavor accent.

HONMIDO / Benjido Sand Sakura A lightly baked lang de chat with a faint sakura scent, sandwiched with a creamy filling, freeze-dried strawberries, and sakura crunch on top. The sweet and sour strawberry flavor and gentle sakura aroma are the accents. Available in a pack of 5 for 1620 yen, each piece weighs 15g with 83 kcal. Located in GINZA SIX basement. The sandwiched filling is not cream or buttercream, but something like meringue. Despite being creamy, it is low in calories, which is surprising. The lang de chat is buttery rich and crispy without being greasy, providing a delightful texture. The sandwiched meringue has a light sakura flavor that is not overwhelmingly sweet. The cream is not too sweet as well, with the freeze-dried tangy strawberry adding a nice touch.

I was debating on what to buy at the sweets shop on the B2F of GINZA SIX in Ginza, and discovered that they also have a store at Daimaru in Osaka Shinsaibashi. I ended up purchasing some dorayaki pancakes for souvenirs and for home. The cakes were small and had a fluffy texture, with cream and sweet mitarashi sauce inside. They were simply delicious.

Exploring the second floor of G-SIX while looking for souvenirs. I found a cute shop called "HONMIDO" and decided to check it out. HONMIDO is a new brand originating from Ginza, with only two stores in G-SIX and Shinsaibashi Daimaru. I purchased some items this time, but there are many more interesting products on their website. They offer items like Almond Pie, Cinnamon Pie, and HONMIDO Sandwiches. I might revisit this shop in the future. The "Mitarashi Pancakes" were priced at 380 yen for 2 pieces, and they are described as "rice milk pudding wrapped in mitarashi sauce sandwiched between fluffy pancakes." I don't really taste the mitarashi sauce, but the fluffy milk pudding is nice. The "HONMIDO Cookies" cost 1,000 yen for 8 pieces and are described as "crispy cookies with a fragrant roasted kinako flavor." These cookies have a delicious kinako flavor and go well with green tea. I really like the simple taste of kinako, it reminds me of traditional Japanese sweets. I enjoyed these treats, and I'm looking forward to trying the Almond Pie, Cinnamon Pie, and HONMIDO Sandwich next time.

Returning to Takamatsu, a friend received an order from Friend 34: "Buy the Honmidou's Honjitsudo sandwich and Mitarashi pancake!" Now, back home. Is this what Yuki is eating? With that thought in mind, we take a bite. The Mitarashi pancake is smaller than expected. It has a delicate sweetness that is not overpowering. The Honjitsudo sandwich is an elegant treat. Its crispy texture and subtly sweet flavor are distinctive. Recently, souvenirs from Tokyo were starting to feel repetitive. But the refined sweets from Honmidou were truly impressive. Friend 34, once again, with a great suggestion!
