The grilled liver was too smelly, and the eel had a rubbery texture. The sauce seemed like it was from a bulk supply. The blowfish tasted like it should be served at a specialty restaurant. This was my first time at this restaurant, so maybe the other locations are different, but because of this experience, I won't be visiting any other branches. While you might be able to deceive foreigners with the eel, I don't think Japanese people's palates are that strange.

Whenever I go, the fugu restaurant is always delicious. It's nice that all the fugu dishes I want to eat are included in the course. When I visit here, I'm happy that collagen drinks and extra collagen in the hot pot will make my skin plump the next day. The hot pot and the finishing zosui are also nice because the staff comes to make them at the right timing. For dessert, you can choose between yuzu sherbet and walnut ice cream. I'm a fan of walnut ice cream. It was delicious today too. Thank you very much. Mama Michelin rating, want to go on a date, want to have a girls' night out.

It's nice to be able to enjoy hot pot alone. The Genpin and Daigo courses cost 6500 yen. Includes yudofu, tessa, karaage, tecchiri, zosui, and dessert. The staff at the restaurant will prepare the hot pot and zosui. I want to eat fugu once a year, but it's hard to find the time, so I'm happy to find a place where I can dine alone.

Overall, I think everything was great, including the cost performance. The male staff member's service was excellent and made for a pleasant dining experience. The only downside was that the service of drinks took a bit longer, possibly due to the crowded restaurant. While I understand the need for cost-cutting to maintain this price point, I would be even happier if they could raise prices and improve the overall quality. The service and attention to detail from the male staff member, who had only been working for less than a week, deserve a perfect score. Each staff member's skills were top-notch, making for a truly enjoyable time. Thank you very much!

I used it because it's the season when fugu is delicious. It's a chain restaurant, so it's budget-friendly, and I also frequent other stores like the Kagurazaka branch. Grilled fugu and tessa are delicious, but I love the fried fugu and zosui. It's still fugu season, so I want to go a lot.

Unagi lunch set with pickled plum for 1,500 yen (paid with T-points). Today is the Day of the Ox in midsummer, so I searched for where to eat eel and came across this place. They offer a lunch set with eel, a little bit of blowfish, and other side dishes for this price, which seemed reasonable to me. I decided to make a reservation to avoid the crowds on this special day. They have different sizes of eel sets - Matsuba, Take, and Ume. It's my first time visiting, and I never noticed this place before. I arrived at 12:43 pm, was seated on the second floor with no other customers present. I ordered the Unagi lunch set with pickled plum in advance. The set includes eel, blowfish soup, white salad, and pickles. I paid with T-points and received my order in about 15 minutes. The salad was served with both dressing and ponzu sauce, which tasted better when combined. The eel was soft and fluffy, although I wished it had a bit more spiciness from the sansho pepper. The pickles, especially the Nara pickles, were delicious and elevated the meal. The blowfish soup was light and had a nice texture. The portion size was just right, leaving me satisfied but not overly full. No other customers arrived until I finished my meal, so it felt like a private dining experience. When I paid, the staff mentioned that I seemed to have enjoyed a leisurely meal, which was true. I was also interested in trying the collaboration with Iida Shoten's salt ramen starting today, but unfortunately, they only offer it as part of a set menu. Overall, I had a delicious meal at this restaurant on August 4, 2022, during lunch.

Pufferfish is delicious, isn't it~♡ But for me, it's a luxury item. Shamelessly, I only use this place once a year during the fugu day fair. The fugu day fair... On February 9th, in celebration of Fugu Day, a specific course of tessa is free, one plate for 1,300 yen including tax. This year, the general fair period is from February 9th (Wednesday) to 13th (Sunday), and the special fair period for FG CLUB members is from February 1st (Tuesday) to 28th (Monday). I always looked forward to it every year, but last year, due to the pandemic, it was canceled. This year, I thought I would have to give up again. However, coincidentally, my company suggested a celebration and when looking for a restaurant, the idea of having fugu came up. Although the fugu day fair for this year had ended, my company would pay for it, so I thought why not. While checking my email again, I found out that this year, the fair period for FG CLUB members has been extended until the end of March! So, I decided to go for it! Among the eligible courses, I chose the "Daigo Course" that I had selected at a previous private event. The course is normally 6,000 yen, but it will be 4,700 yen now. The course also includes all-you-can-drink for an additional 2,000 yen, but I don't drink that much, so I didn't opt for it. The "Daigo Course" includes appetizers (yudofu), tessa, fried fugu, tecchiri, zosui, and dessert. We made a reservation for Wednesday night. The four hardworking women members were all excited. The third-floor floor we were led to was empty, completely reserved for us. We were all impressed by the deliciousness of the fugu. However, the fried fugu seemed smaller compared to before. The female staff who took care of us seemed to be a veteran? She was bright and fun, with a good attitude and abundant knowledge. She explained in detail about the different parts of the fugu, making us feel like we got a good deal. The taste was even better. Oh, the fugu miso that was served with pickles during the zosui was incredibly delicious. We were all full and satisfied. We had a great time enjoying the delicious food. We hope to visit again next year~♪ If you want to take advantage of the fugu day fair, I recommend signing up for membership on their website to get the best deals☆

Time had passed, so I quickly went to the restaurant holding the shareholder benefit vouchers. I had made a reservation, which turned out to be a good idea because the place was packed this time. We were seated in the basement, where there seemed to be only one staff member. It took a long time to order and everything seemed to be delayed due to the crowded tables. I ordered various dishes, but when the beloved blowfish sashimi arrived, I was shocked to see how small the cabbage was compared to last time. It was disappointing. The blowfish tempura was also smaller, with each piece having less meat. Even the blowfish hot pot seemed to have a reduced amount. It was delicious, but everything seemed downsized. It made me wonder if the dishes served to our table were less than usual. The neighboring table, also using shareholder vouchers, received additional menu options that we did not. It seemed impossible for one staff member to handle the busy floor alone. I thought maybe I should try a different branch next time.

I had a stockholder coupon for Kanmonkai Co., Ltd. (https://www.kanmonkai.co.jp/) worth 4,000 yen x 2, which was valid until November 30th, so I made a reservation and went to "Fugu Ryori Genpin Ueno" near Ueno Station. https://www.tettiri.com/ When I entered the restaurant and gave my reserved name, I was guided downstairs. I sat at a table and informed them about using the stockholder coupon, and ordered the Gen Course Fugu Karaage Yaki Sanshu Mori (aged bone-in fugu, fugu meat, grilled fugu skin). The "Gen Course" included an appetizer (boiled fugu), tessa, tecchiri, zosui, and dessert, but did not include karaage, so I ordered that and grilled fugu separately. First, we had the boiled fugu as an appetizer. The crunchy texture of the fugu skin and ponzu sauce was delicious. Next, the tessa from the course was served. Although it was a small amount, we savored each piece. We then received the ordered fugu karaage. It had 4 pieces of meat, which was just the right amount to share between two people. The meat with soy sauce marinade was delicious, with a chewy texture attached to the bone. Then came the grilled fugu, with a grill set on the table. There were 3 types of dipping sauces, and the garlic oil in the middle was particularly tasty. We enjoyed different parts of the fugu - aged bone-in fugu, fugu meat, and grilled fugu skin. The main dish, tecchiri, was served next. Fugu carcass was added to a paper pot with broth, along with vegetables and shabu-shabu meat to enjoy. The chopped fugu meat had a satisfying texture, and the ponzu sauce added a tangy flavor. After eating the ingredients, the zosui set was brought to us. As a COVID-19 measure, we cooked the zosui ourselves. We boiled the soup with remaining bones, added rice, and other ingredients to complete the dish. The fugu broth was delicious, and although we thought it might be too much, we finished it all. Finally, we were served ice cream and hot tea before leaving. We paid the bill and left the restaurant. As expected, we were full from the zosui, so sharing the karaage and grilled fugu was the right choice. The total cost for 2 meals and 4 drinks was 16,000 yen, but using the coupon made it half price, which was a great deal. The staff frequently changed our towels and plates, and the service was excellent. I would love to revisit if I receive stockholder coupons again in the future. Yummy!

We had a family lunch at Genpin near Asakusa Station. We ordered two Premium Courses of W Fugu sashimi for 4,400 yen each, as well as Fugu simmered in soy sauce. This chain restaurant offers box seats and is child-friendly, making it a comfortable choice for families. The menu included hot pot, Tessa (blowfish skin), assorted sashimi, fried blowfish, Tetchiri (hot pot with blowfish), porridge, and dessert, all for a reasonable price of 4,400 yen. Tetchiri is now prepared by customers themselves due to COVID-19 precautions. The porridge is made by the staff and can be adjusted to taste, making it easy for children to enjoy. We had a delicious meal today as well.

Kansai people love Fugu! And when it comes to Fugu, it has to be Guenpin Fugu! Maybe some people outside of Kansai don't know about it yet? I've been going there to eat since I was young, and this year, I was taken there when I went back home. Guenpin Fugu, which I have a special connection with, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Congratulations! I was invited to the Guenpin 40th Anniversary Festival, which is being held from October 1st to November 30th. As a gourmet Instagrammer, it makes me so happy to be able to connect like this. The special course for the 40th anniversary costs 4,000 yen (excluding tax) with all-you-can-drink for 5,500 yen (excluding tax). It includes various popular dishes like Tessa Yudofu, Fugu Sushi, Fugu Karaage, Tetchiri, Zosui, and dessert. This special course is a combination of everyone's favorite dishes that you don't usually see together. And if you order this course, you get a 40% discount on selected single items. I love Shirako and Fugu sashimi, so I can eat twice as much now! I had Fugu sake from lunch this time, and I really enjoyed it. Tessa and Karaage are both for one person in this picture. I've always loved Guenpin Fugu's Karaage, and it's really delicious. It has won the "Karaage Grand Prix Highest Gold Award" after all! Tetchiri is always so delicious no matter when you eat it. If you've never had hot pot before, you'll be amazed! And they put a lot of condiments in the ponzu sauce, which makes me really happy. Do you know what I mean? The meat around the bones is incredibly delicious, so it's best to eat it by hand, not with chopsticks. Zosui is a must-have for me. I don't know why, but even when I'm full, I can eat it slurpingly. I always get lost in watching them make it. The collagen pudding for dessert was so delicious. I want you to try it. The bitter caramel is a big plus! I also received souvenirs this time, "Fugu Collagen," a beauty jelly containing the rare ingredient "Tora Fugu Collagen." It makes your skin moisturized! And it's only 200 yen! I returned to Tokyo from Osaka for the year-end and New Year holidays. This time, my girlfriend and I had a Christmas dinner and year-end party three days late. The Ueno store of Genpei Fugu is located in a slightly shady place that you wouldn't notice if you were just walking normally from Chuo Street. However, the entrance decoration was quite flashy. It seems they recently renovated. The interior of the restaurant also seemed to have been renovated and was very clean. We were seated at a table for four, even though there were only two of us, so space-wise it was sufficient, but if I could be a bit picky, I would have preferred a private room or semi-private room. Although the table next to us, with four salarymen entertaining clients, wasn't noisy, they did catch our attention. We ordered the 5,000 yen Shimonoseki Fugu course today. It included tessa, nigiri, and one piece of karaage, which is a good course for those who want to try a variety of dishes little by little. It was perfect for my girlfriend, who loves fugu karaage. The blowfish sashimi and fin sake in the photo are at an additional cost. I'm not a big fan of sake, but the fin sake was delicious, so I ordered it, and even my girlfriend, who usually doesn't like alcohol, said it was tasty and had a few sips. The fugu hot pot, zosui, and dessert filled us up, and my stomach was about to burst. Maybe my appetite is decreasing with age. My girlfriend, who ate almost the same amount, seems to be fine (laughs). This place is always a reliable and comforting restaurant. Thank you for the meal. Looking forward to next year.

Time has passed, so I'll keep it brief (currently 1/8). I came here to use the shareholder benefit meal voucher. It's my first time at Genpin (I've been to Torafugu-Tei many times though). I ordered a course for two people, as well as a la carte items such as fried chicken and dumplings. There's "tessa" (blowfish sashimi), which is really fresh and delicious. Their specialty "butsu sashimi" is served on top of Chinese cabbage, creating a unique and tasty combination. I highly recommend it for its generous portion. The blowfish fried chicken is a must-try when you visit a blowfish restaurant (it's incredibly delicious). The blowfish skin tempura had a crispy texture that was quite different and enjoyable. The blowfish dumplings were a bit hard to describe (a unique eating experience). The "tetchiri" hot pot came with plenty of ponzu sauce, momiji oroshi, and grated daikon radish. The egg rice porridge served after the hot pot was flavorful with blowfish broth. For dessert, I chose ice cream - yuzu sherbet and nut ice cream, both were quite delicious. The bright and friendly atmosphere of the restaurant was welcoming. When I couldn't decide between tessa and buts sashimi, they kindly offered one portion of each. I look forward to visiting again. This restaurant also serves crab (although it's expensive), so I might give that a try, but I think blowfish is still my favorite (especially in winter).

On November 14, 2020, my husband and I visited a fugu restaurant. I believe my husband made the reservation for us. My husband loves to eat delicious food and is always seeking new culinary experiences with unfamiliar dishes and ingredients, ranging from B-class gourmet to high-end cuisine. This time, we tried a fugu restaurant for the first time. We enjoyed fugu sashimi, fugu skin ponzu, and fugu fin sake. It was delicious!

Today's food adventure is at Ueno Genpin, where I will be enjoying the Fugu lunch course. Despite the concerns about the coronavirus, I decided to visit Ueno for sightseeing on Sunday! I arrived at Ueno Station at 11:30 am and made a same-day reservation at this restaurant, entering at 12 pm. I was seated at a table on the basement floor, which had a calming atmosphere. I ordered the 3,000 yen Fugu lunch course and a grilled shirako as a single item. Before the dishes arrived, I started with a draft beer and a highball for a lunchtime toast. The cold beer was refreshing and felt like alcohol disinfection (*^o^)/\(^-^*) Cheers! After a while, the first dishes, Tessa and Botsu sashimi, were served. Let's share and enjoy them. - Tessa, Botsu sashimi: The 11 pieces of Tessa were soft and had a smooth texture without any fishy smell, very delicious! The additional Botsu sashimi for 200 yen had a good thickness and a nice texture, also very tasty! - Grilled shirako (with salt): The grilled shirako looked delicious with its crispy brown color. There were two pieces in the serving. When eaten hot, the rich and creamy flavor of the shirako spread in the mouth. - Tetchiri hot pot: The hot pot contained various parts of Fugu meat, tofu, shiitake mushrooms, and other vegetables. The collagen-rich Fugu meat was tender and tasty, and the hot pot was full of ingredients. For the finishing touch, we had Fugu porridge and various ice creams for dessert. - Fugu porridge: The porridge included rice, two raw eggs, Asatsuki (Japanese parsley), chopped seaweed, and pickles. The porridge, with the lingering flavor of Fugu broth, had a gentle seasoning and was delicious. Thank you for the meal. The 3,000 yen course allowed me to fully enjoy Fugu dishes, and everything was delicious. Especially, the grilled shirako that I ordered separately was exceptionally tasty. I look forward to the fair where I can enjoy high-quality fugu at a reasonable price every year. This year marks the 7th time for me. The fair period is from 2/7 (Fri) to 2/11 (Tue) for 5 days, but for FG CLUB members, the period is from 2/17 (Mon) to 3/1 (Sun) for 2 weeks. I am a member of this FG CLUB. This time, I couldn't receive the fair email and tried to make a web reservation during the regular fair period, but it was already full. I hurriedly called and managed to make a reservation. It seems that even if you can't make a web reservation, you may still be able to make a reservation by phone, so don't give up and try calling. After making a reservation, I received the fair email on 1/31. If it had arrived a little earlier, I might have visited during the FG CLUB member's fair period instead of the regular period. The fair includes a free serving of fugu sashimi in the fugu course. Individual items are not eligible. Our favorite course is the Daigo course for 5,400 yen (excluding tax). This is discounted by 1,200 yen for one serving of sashimi, making it 4,200 yen (excluding tax). The course includes 6 dishes: 1) Appetizer (boiled in hot water) 2) Sashimi (fugu sashimi) 3) Fried dish 4) Hot pot (fugu hot pot) 5) Porridge 6) Ice dessert. When making a reservation, I requested a seat where cigarette smoke does not come. They told me that all seats have become non-smoking since last year. On the day of the visit with three people, the appearance outside was quite different from before. Upon entering and announcing our name, we were led to the B1 seat. The interior also seemed to have changed a lot. It was very clean. When seated, they handed us a cloth towel. We had already ordered the course, so we only ordered drinks and started. There were some changes from before. The accompaniment for the fugu fried dish changed from ginkgo nuts to sweet potatoes. I preferred the ginkgo nuts. The number of slices for the hot pot seemed to be reduced from 2-3 slices to 1 slice. This was a little disappointing. For the porridge, they used to let us taste it at the end, but this time, they said they made it lighter, so if it's not enough, please add salt or ponzu sauce. They provide warm or cold towels multiple times, before and after the hot pot, and before dessert. However, the table call bell was gone, so it was a bit inconvenient when ordering additional drinks. The dessert used to be nut ice cream all the time, but this time, they offered yuzu sherbet and gave us a choice. Additionally, for an extra 200 yen, you can change to matcha pudding, red bean pudding, or pudding. There was no souvenir this time. The total amount including each drink was 16,970 yen. It's about 5,657 yen per person, but one person who ordered more alcohol paid a little extra, so the other person and I paid 5,300 yen each. This fair is a must-not-miss. I hope they continue it in the future.

You can eat fugu at a good price. When ordering, the staff recommended thickly sliced blowfish sashimi. We ordered blowfish sashimi and fugu sashimi since there were two of us! The blowfish sashimi has an amazing texture. It's addictive. I feel like I will definitely order blowfish sashimi next time!

On September 28th last year, the store name changed from "Genpin Fugu" to "Genpin," as announced. This time, it was the first "February 9th Fugu Day Fair" since the name change. Every year, the "tessa" dish is priced at 29 yen per plate, but this year, amazingly, one tessa dish worth 1,180 yen is free. However, this offer is only valid for course orders, not for individual items. There are four course options available. Since we couldn't miss the fried chicken, we chose the "Daigo Course" menu, which is usually priced at 5,300 yen but now at 4,120 yen (excluding tax). The course includes appetizers (yudofu), tessa, fried chicken, tetchiri, zosui, and dessert. The regular fair period is from February 9th (Saturday) to February 13th (Wednesday), but FG CLUB members can enjoy it from February 1st (Friday) to February 28th (Thursday). By the way, you can easily register as an FG CLUB member on the website and receive plenty of benefits. We received the notification email and immediately made a reservation with our usual group, visiting at 7:30 pm. Last year, we didn't have a good impression of the 4th floor, so this time we requested the 2nd floor. Upon arrival, the place was fully booked with reservations, and those who visited without a reservation were turned away. Reservations are essential during this period. All the dishes were delicious, and the free tessa had a thick and satisfying texture. The more you chew, the more flavorful it becomes. However, the amount of rice in the zosui dish felt less than the two servings from last year, more like a three-serving portion this year. The drink prices were as follows (excluding tax): The Premium Malt's beer small draft for 500 yen, medium draft for 550 yen, oolong tea for 400 yen, and Kurokirishima (sweet potato shochu) for 550 yen, among others. The quality of service may vary depending on the staff. Unfortunately, I couldn't experience the same excitement as two years ago. In the end, I can only visit once a year, but for someone like me on a budget, being able to enjoy such a fugu course at this price is very much appreciated, and I look forward to this fair every year. I will visit again next year. For those who want to enjoy a reasonably priced fugu course, I recommend joining the FG CLUB and visiting during this period. Oh, and if you become an FG CLUB member and visit during the special period, you can receive a bottle of Higenponzu per group when presenting the notification email.
