COCO'S KOKOSU MITAKA OSAWA store @ Mitaka City, Tokyo @ When choosing a family restaurant is troublesome, one of the places nearby that I often rely on is COCO'S. However, it has been about half a year since my last visit on the night of August 21, 2019. It's nice that the parking is free and the menu shows some creativity. Located on Tenmondai Street heading from Nishi-Chofu on the Keio Line towards Musashisakai, just past Chofu Airport and right before the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, is the family restaurant COCO'S. The menu has significantly changed since November 2018, with more variety added, keeping most of the traditional menu items while introducing seven chicken dishes, seven Japanese-style dishes called "Ajiwai Gozen," and three authentic Chinese dishes under "Shibire Honkaku Chuka." Furthermore, the menu has been updated with even more selections since then. Also, since November 2018, the entire store has become non-smoking. Tonight, the restaurant was quite lively with a good number of customers. I used to love COCO'S beef curry and would often order it, but on my last visit, I found that the menu had changed quite a bit. The simple beef curry had disappeared, replaced by dishes like Cheese-in-Hamburger Beef Curry. While there were five types of curry previously, it had changed to Ebi Fry Curry, Karaage Curry, and a simple Spicy Curry when I visited tonight. They were also promoting a fluffy strawberry fair with whipped cream, which looked very delicious in the parfait, but I resisted the temptation. Tonight, my companion and I ordered the following: Doria and curry as a light meal, and we added a Caesar salad to get some vegetables. Our order was: ■ Crispy Cheddar Caesar Salad 590 yen ■ Ebi Doria 790 yen ■ Spicy Curry 690 yen ■ A Drink Bar 240 yen, but with the app coupon, it was 190 yen. The Crispy Cheddar Caesar Salad was delicious with romaine lettuce and crispy flat cheddar cheese as a nice accent. The Ebi Doria was an orthodox rice doria with small shrimp and spinach. The Spicy Curry was not too spicy, and even as someone who sweats easily, I only experienced a slight perspiration. In addition to CooCa by Zensho, new point systems like Ponta, R Point, and d Point have been added, but currently, only point payments are possible, and electronic money like R Cash cannot be used. I switched from a Doraemon point card to an iPhone app, making it more convenient. With more items on the new menu that I want to try, I hope to visit again soon. Please note that the business hours have changed, with the morning service on weekdays being discontinued, and the store now opens at 10:00. The closing time in the evening remains the same at 24:00.
