Oh, I realized I hadn't reviewed this restaurant yet. I heard about the local specialty of "pork belly bowl" in Okayama and was curious, but the original store that is said to have originated it expanded its stores and then closed down. However, there must be some other store out there still serving it... In Mie, there is a shop that handles pork meat and offers a menu with a similar recipe. It's really difficult to find in Tokyo... So, I decided to seize this opportunity and came to Sukiya. The "pork belly bowl" (regular size) arrived in a red, tall, flat bowl. It seemed like a "mini" for some reason, even though the rice portion is the same due to the automatic rice dispenser. It has 725kcal... I might have overdone it. The thick pork belly meat is marinated well and grilled over charcoal. It's like a char siu bowl, with a sweet sauce poured over it... The flavor of the sweet sauce and the touch of sansho pepper create an atmosphere, but it tastes like something I've had before. It was gone in no time. Did they really serve a regular portion of rice? I feel like I would have been more satisfied with a beef bowl. But hey, one homework assignment for my bucket list is completed!

This time, I would like to introduce "Sukiya" in Ome City. Sukiya is known for its limited-time special menu items. The "Yakisoba Gyudon" introduced this time is a limited-time product that was released on April 12, 2021. This menu was created in collaboration with the movie "Crayon Shin-chan: Crash! B-class Gourmet Survival!!" which focuses on B-class gourmet food. Due to the pandemic, orders for takeout were implemented. The Yakisoba Gyudon is priced at 630 yen for a large serving. The yakisoba is made with medium-thick noodles, cabbage, and carrots, with a sauce flavor and comes with a special sauce and seaweed. The Yakisoba Gyudon consists of yakisoba noodles placed on top of a gyudon bowl. It is recommended to first enjoy the yakisoba and then move on to the gyudon. While you can eat them together, personally I found that savoring them separately was the best way to enjoy the flavors. The special sauce enhances the yakisoba's taste, but when combined with the gyudon, it is delicious even without the special sauce. In conclusion, enjoying the yakisoba and gyudon separately is the key to savoring them deliciously. I look forward to the next limited-time menu. The meal cost 630 yen. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Alright. Let's wash the car. I woke up and thought about it, but it's raining. Haha, I found a car wash with a roof. Sometimes I struggle with crowded places like Yoshinoya, but I might go there today. I found a Yoshinoya near the car wash. Let's go—oh, they don't open until 7:00. Oh well... I mustered up the courage to go, but they're closed. Damn it. I changed plans and went to Sukiya nearby instead. As always, it was delicious.

This is Sukiya Aobadai Shinmachi store. Sukiya pilgrimage journey: 99th stage Beef bowl restaurant pilgrimage journey: 141st stage This shop is located along the Ome Kaido. The nearest station is probably Kosaku Station. It seems to be operated by one Japanese man and one foreign woman. It's empty as it's nearing 10 in the morning. The parking lot is spacious, probably because it's along the main road. The ice in the tea was starting to melt, but they brought a pitcher, so it's fine. The taste is all standard. The portion size is also good. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I had a driving lesson but it was crowded, making it difficult to book consecutive lessons or at a good time. Before the lesson, I had breakfast at a place near the New Ome Highway in Ome City, on the west side of the "Industrial Park Entrance" intersection. It's near West Tokyo Lane and Don Quijote, next to Yamada Udon Ome Shinmachi. There used to be a McDonald's diagonally across and a Matsuya closer to Tokyo, making it a competitive area. There is a spacious parking lot shared with the adjacent Seven Eleven. Inside the restaurant, there were no other customers. The layout includes a counter in an "L" shape and many table seats, similar to Sukiya. Lately, I've been into grilled salmon for breakfast, so I ordered the "Salmon Breakfast" (390 yen) here. It was served in about 3 minutes. Let's dig in. The main dish of salmon has the back side slightly crumbled. A bit disappointing! The salmon itself is tasty with a good amount of fat. Salmon is a must for Japanese breakfast, right? (laughs) The side dishes included simmered hijiki, seasoned seaweed, rice, and miso soup with fried tofu and wakame seaweed. I'm grateful for this Japanese breakfast. It was delicious. It's 10 yen cheaper than Yoshinoya, but the imperfect shape of the salmon was a bit disappointing. (laughs)

Today, I tried a menu I've never had before. Spicy Pickled Mustard Mayo Beef Bowl (regular) for 390 yen and Fried Chicken Set for 180 yen excluding tax. The Spicy Pickled Mustard Mayo Beef Bowl is a bit spicy... but it's addicting. The beef bowl and fried chicken were both delicious and piping hot. [Late Night Eats Series] Before I knew it, this Sukiya had returned to 24-hour service. I went for a late night snack. I had used the drive-thru before, but it was my first time inside the store. The interior was quite spacious and very clean. When I looked at the Sukiya menu after a long time, there were so many options. Different types of beef bowls and curry dishes. The regular beef bowl at Sukiya is so-so... so I went for the popular No.1 Cheese Beef Bowl. Three Cheese Beef Bowl (regular) for 410 yen and Oshinko (pickled vegetables) Set for 100 yen excluding tax. Sukiya offers six sizes for their beef bowls: mini, regular, medium, large, extra-large, and mega... so many sizes to choose from. The side menu also had a variety of options, a bit overwhelming... The food was served so quickly, it was almost surprising. The cheese slowly melting... Yes. Delicious. It doesn't taste like a typical beef bowl, but it's delicious in its own way. Cheese lovers will adore it. The Oshinko was packed full on the plate, very generous. With a wide variety of beef bowls to enjoy, Sukiya is great! I look forward to going there late at night in the future.

On a certain rainy day in March 2015, I visited a Sukiya restaurant in Shinmachi, Ome City. I ordered the "Gyuu Sukinabe Set," but isn't that the menu name from Yoshinoya? [Revisit] This is a review of the Sukiya restaurant in Shinmachi, Ome City. In the beginning, I rarely took photos, but as the number of reviews increased, I started to feel uneasy about the lack of photos (it somehow felt incomplete and unsettling). So, I decided to revisit the restaurant and take some photos. Unfortunately, my car was having some issues, so I checked it out in the parking lot. I visited around 3 PM. There were 2 staff members and 6 customers already inside. I ordered a regular-sized beef bowl for 350 yen. The dish arrived in less than a minute. The portion size seemed good, and the color of the beef was the most vibrant I've seen. The taste was on the sweeter side compared to other places. Perhaps Sukiya's selling point is the variety of toppings you can choose from? This time, I also received a coffee voucher. Thank you for the meal. [December 2014] It feels like this Sukiya restaurant appeared out of nowhere. I wonder how long it has been open. The parking lot is quite spacious, but it was almost full. The restaurant was crowded with customers, and although there were some empty seats, the tables were not cleared yet. After a short wait, I was seated and served tea. I ordered a regular-sized beef bowl for 291 yen. The dish arrived very quickly. The meat seemed thin, but there was a generous amount of it. The sauce was sweet and had a thick consistency, or maybe that was just my impression? I added some pickled ginger and finished my meal. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this place about half a year ago, but they were not open for early morning hours due to a certain incident. However, thanks to information from a reliable reviewer, I found out that they have recently returned to being open 24 hours, so I felt relieved to visit again! Unlike some other Sukiya locations that still do not operate during late night or early morning hours since that incident, it's great to have reliable information on their operating hours. It was around 5 in the morning when I visited, and there was a group of young men dining at a table while I was the only other customer. I ordered the "Maze Nokke Breakfast" for 300 yen (plus 24 yen tax), and it arrived in about 3-4 minutes. You mix in the okra and bonito flakes, and the taste of the raw egg with dashi and soy sauce mixes well with the bonito flakes, making the rice very enjoyable. Be careful not to finish all the rice with just the okra, as the gyudon will be left behind. When you pour the gyudon over the remaining rice, you have a complete beef bowl. Sprinkle plenty of shichimi pepper and ginger on top, mix it all up, and enjoy your meal. It's a breakfast that is delicious twice over, cheap, tasty, and satisfying!

The female leopard and salmon series (lol) On June 27, 2014, I visited the Sukiya Ome Shinmachi store, which is supposed to be open 24 hours, but for some reason, they were closed when I visited early in the morning last time. So this morning, when I found out on Sukiya's homepage that the Ome Shinmachi store had resumed 24-hour operation, I hurried over in my salmon mobile! (← That's a bit exaggerated (^o^)) Anyway, I had the usual "Salmon Beef Set" today. The salmon was quite fatty this time, but it had a nice crispy texture. The "hijiki" side dish was also served warm.

This morning's breakfast was ordered at 5 am in reflection of not feeling hungry even by lunchtime yesterday. I ordered the "natto set meal for 280 yen". It included rice, miso soup, raw egg, simmered hijiki seaweed, and natto. You can add seaweed for an extra 30 yen or change to pork miso soup for an extra 80 yen. The cost performance is excellent compared to Yoshinoya. The portion size is also better here. The meal was served quickly, and I was pleased to see the extra plate of green onions. I enjoyed the miso soup, prepared my raw egg over rice, and finally indulged in the delicious tamago kake gohan. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely visit this restaurant again.

The classic menu for all morning open stores: natto, salmon, raw egg. Sukiya has hijiki as well. The basic breakfast for 440 yen. Located next to Yamada Udon in Ome Shinmachi store. The morning set menu overlaps with Yamada Udon. Shirameshi with raw egg, natto, grilled salmon, hijiki, miso soup. A staple of Japanese food culture. Sukiya has beef but no udon. Lately, I often see tired people at Yamada Udon and Sukiya in the morning. A beer and appetizer in the morning. There is always at least one person like that wherever you go. Is this also part of Japanese culture?
