The third stop on my Asakusa tour was Kibidango from the Yoshii Dango Shop. I bought 3 pieces for 210 yen. When you order, they boil the dango on the spot so you can eat them piping hot. These kibidango are pink in color, coated with kinako. The friendly auntie who served me made me feel soothed, so I highly rate the atmosphere. As for the taste, it was incredibly soft! Delicious! It's hard to describe, it's not exactly chewy but not too firm either. It's somewhere in between. The kinako was ordinary, like the ones you find in stores, but the dango had a subtle hint of bitterness which added depth to the flavor. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

It is located on a side street off Nakamise Street. I had been curious about it during my morning walk. I decided to visit for the first time. The staff kindly explained everything to me. I bought 8 pieces (5 + 3) to take home. They heated up the ones that had turned from 4 to 3 as a service and let me eat them in the store, which was very touching. After a few hours, the powder on the ones I took home became a little wrinkled, but they were not too hard and I enjoyed them all. They were delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely go again.

I had only tried Kibi Dango as a souvenir before, but I decided to try the Kibiko-ya's Kibi Dango, which was 3 for 210 yen. I was surprised when I tried it. It was soft and gooey like freshly made warabi mochi, and it was delicious. I never understood why the dog, monkey, and pheasant followed Momotaro with Kibi Dango, but if freshly made Kibi Dango is this delicious, then it makes sense.

This is a shop selling Kibi dango located in a side street off Nakamise Street. I tried Kibi dango for the first time, which is mentioned in the story of Momotaro. They warm up the dango after you order it, sprinkle it with kinako, and serve it to you. The freshly warmed Kibi dango is incredibly soft and melts in your mouth. The combination of the kinako flavor and the sweetness of the dango is delicious! You can choose to have 3 or 5 dango if you eat them on the spot. I chose 3, but they were so good that I wish I had gone for 5. They also sell miscellaneous goods, and it seems that Momoring is popular with foreigners.

A specialty shop for kibidango located on a back street running parallel to the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa. The main store is located along Sumida-dori in Higashi Mukojima. Kibidango shops may seem like a niche business, but in Asakusa, there are a few shops, including ours, that offer kibidango. While not as prominent as the popular shop "Azuma" on the main street of Nakamise, our shop is also quite reputable. The interior has a few table seats, and takeaway options are likely available. The menu consists mainly of kibidango, but strangely, they also sell fruit juices. The kibidango (3 pieces for 210 yen or 5 pieces for 350 yen) are freshly made by a lady with a hair accessory resembling the product, boiled and then coated with kinako powder. The freshly made kibidango is soft and chewy, with a good balance of sweetness and a slightly salty taste from the kinako powder. It's nice to enjoy them in the warm atmosphere of the shop. The fresh taste allows you to fully experience the unique flavor of kibi. The "Momosuzu" charms shaped like peaches with bells, produced by our shop, are said to bring good luck, particularly in matters of love. While such things are not really my cup of tea, those interested may want to give it a try.

Visited in November 2014. The review got a bit mixed up with Kinryuzan Asakusa Senbei Honpo. I tried the Kibi Dango here. It had a sign saying "Japan's best Kibi Dango", challenging Momotaro from Okayama. Enjoying the Kibi Dango quietly on the veranda behind Nakamise Street was truly special.

Nostalgic Yoshidango. Whenever I visit Asakusa, I always stop by this shop. There are other popular shops around, but I really like this one.

After enjoying freshly baked senbei at "Ichiban-ya," I stumbled upon a shop selling kibidango along the approach to Senso-ji temple in Asakusa. You can eat inside the shop, and they sell kibidango in sets of 5 for 270 yen including tax, or 3 pieces with tea for 324 yen. They don't sell individual pieces. I thought 5 pieces might be too much, so I ordered the set of 3 with tea. The kibidango were small and cute, and with plenty of kinako on top of the soft mochi, they were delicious. However, the tea was served in a paper cup, and I wished they had provided it in a teacup instead, especially since they charge around 100 yen for it.

First visit to Sensoji Temple for New Year's. It's scary not knowing how crowded it would be... Turns out, it was packed with people! We were told that the only way to approach the temple for prayers was through the Kaminarimon gate, so we walked along the side streets against the flow of people. Along the way, I couldn't help but notice the subtle "come this way" aura being emitted. Is it just for sales? We all moved slowly in the same direction while approaching the temple! I tried the kibidango (5 for 250 yen) and warabimochi (1 for 100 yen) they were selling. Not too sweet! The kibidango was subtly warm and elegantly sweet, while the warabimochi had the perfect softness. It was a sophisticated taste, unlike disappointing souvenirs. It's easy to eat while walking, so it's a convenient snack for sightseeing around Asakusa.
