"Happy Pancake," a popular pancake made with fluffy dough from Osaka, has become a hit in Tokyo with three locations in Omotesando, Shibuya, and Kichijoji. I visited the Shibuya location, which, although it has calmed down a bit, is still a popular spot. We made a reservation the day before, so we were able to get in without a wait. The interior of the restaurant is bright and clean, with white as the main color. We were a group of four and shared three different pancakes. First, we tried the classic "Happy Pancake" for 1,100 yen. The fluffy pancake with fermented butter and maple syrup had a rich eggy flavor. We added whipped cream for an extra 100 yen, which made it even more delicious. The second pancake we tried was the "Seasonal Fresh Fruit Pancake" for 1,390 yen, topped with colorful fruits like bananas, apples, pink grapefruit, and strawberries. It looked like a cake and tasted amazing with the generous amount of whipped cream. Lastly, we tried the limited-time "Strawberry Cheese Fondue Pancake with Japanese Strawberries" for 1,480 yen. This pancake had strawberries, whipped cream, and a surprising addition of cheese. The slightly sweet cheese paired surprisingly well with the pancake, creating a taste similar to cheesecake. As someone who loves sweets, especially whipped cream, I really enjoyed the combination of the fluffy pancake and whipped cream. It was fun to try three different pancakes with my friends. We also ordered a drink set for 350 yen per person, and I chose the "Streamer Latte" for 570 yen, which was a strong coffee with latte. The portion was generous. You can also watch the pancakes being made in the kitchen, and it seems they use plenty of eggs. The rumors were true - the fluffy texture of the pancakes, resembling a souffle, truly brings happiness. Since making a reservation ensures a smooth experience, I look forward to trying their savory dishes next time."
