Lunch is a restaurant where you have to write down your order, and the interior is surprisingly small, making it difficult for customers to move around. I visited after 1 pm, but it wasn't easy to get in when I saw the list of names and the people at the entrance. I waited for about 30 minutes before my name was called. I ordered the specialty of the restaurant, the mapo tofu set. There were quite a few women customers, and even after finishing their meal, they often stayed to chat, which slowed down the turnover. After a while, the mapo tofu set was served. You can have unlimited rice. The set also came with hot and sour soup, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly. The mapo tofu was well-made and could be considered as the perfected version of the Chen Mapo Tofu from the Szechuan restaurant called Szechuan Hanten. The seasoning with sweet bean sauce, fermented black beans, chili bean paste, homemade chili oil, and Sichuan peppercorns was exquisite. It made me wonder if the chef here had trained at the Szechuan restaurant before. This restaurant makes me think that their other Szechuan dishes would be delicious as well. The only downside of the lunch was the slow turnover.

The staff was not very friendly, but the food was delicious. The location is a bit hard to find. However, since it's in Ginza, it was quite expensive. I thought the mapo tofu was a bit too salty. If I have the chance, I would like to go again.

I had lunch at "Ginza Momokagen" in Ginza 8-chome. I decided to explore something new in Ginza and visited this restaurant. The menu that satisfies your appetite is the Noodle Special Set (2000 yen). You can choose your favorite noodles and mapo don to enjoy. The noodle options include sour and spicy soup noodles, tantan noodles, gomoku soba, shrimp soba, and yakisoba. As someone who cares about health, I prefer the sour and spicy soup noodles with vinegar, especially with a raw egg. The mapo don is like Chen Mapo Tofu style, with a strong spiciness of Sichuan pepper, making it very appetizing. The side dishes included a bit of bamboo chicken and zha cai. Lastly, the coconut milk with tapioca and fruits is a perfect palate cleanser. It was delicious Chinese cuisine in Ginza. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Lunch exploration in the Ginza area. The restaurant Momokagen, which was previously located on the 2nd floor of the Ginza Grand Hotel, has been relocated to the 5th floor of the Hakuhinkan building. The location is easy to find in Ginza Hakuhinkan. The Suan La Tang Mian (Hot and Sour Noodles) costs 1300 yen and comes with a small bowl of rice for lunch. I had previously tried the famous Mapo Tofu and Gomoku Ramen at the old location, but this time I decided to try the Suan La Tang Mian, which is said to be a favorite of Chen Jianyi. The restaurant has become more compact compared to its previous size at the Grand Hotel, but it still exudes a sense of luxury and calmness in its interior decor. When ordering, they ask if you would like a raw egg added. Adding a raw egg to the Suan La Tang Mian makes it smoother and reduces the choking sensation. The dish arrives in about 10 minutes. They provide disposable aprons to prevent soup splashes, showing their hospitality. They quickly refill your cold water when it runs low. The broth of the Suan La Tang Mian is a bright red color, giving the impression of spiciness, but when you taste it, the raw egg seems to balance out the spiciness perfectly. The sourness is mild. It's not like a thick sauce poured over the noodles. The bean sprouts and finely sliced pork add a nice texture. The noodles have a moderate amount of water content, making them cling well to the broth. I didn't notice any bamboo shoots or wood ear mushrooms in the dish. For those who enjoy a choking sensation, they may feel that there is a slight lack of sourness. Despite not being very spicy, you may find yourself sweating a bit by the time you finish eating. By the time you leave, you'll feel refreshed and invigorated. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the set menu with noodles and mapo tofu rice bowl for 2,000 yen, but I changed the noodles to tantanmen. Both the tantanmen and the mapo tofu rice bowl were delicious. The tantanmen had more ground sesame than minced meat. It wasn't too spicy to make me sweat. In addition to the main dishes, small plates of bang bang chicken, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly are included. The price of 2,000 yen might be a little high considering what you get, but the taste is good. They accept credit cards. Thank you for the meal.

I went to have lunch at "Ginza Tokkaen" located in the Hakuhinkan Building in Ginza 8-chome ❤︎ Actually, this place is a sister store of "Chinese Szechuan Cuisine Tokkaen" at Kumamoto Hotel Castle. I have also been to the "Chinese Szechuan Cuisine Tokkaen" in Kumamoto, which was selected as a top 100 restaurant! 〈Business Lunch〉1,400 yen - Mapo Tofu - Soup - Pickled Vegetables - Rice (free refills) - Dessert The spicy flavor of Sichuan pepper and chili pepper is exquisite. It is not as spicy as Sichuan restaurants (my favorite Chinese restaurant), so it is easy to eat, but personally, I would like a bit more kick. The portion was a bit generous, but I managed to finish it all ☆ It was just right!

Today is Monday during the Obon holiday, so many restaurants are closed, making it difficult to find lunch options. However, Hagokan was open as usual. I tried the Gomoku Men today, which was delicious with thin noodles and plenty of ingredients in a flavorful soup. The service was also impeccable, with tea served until the end. I admire their commitment to providing regular weekday lunches even during the busy Obon season. Thank you for the meal.

When I had a break during my errands in Ginza, the fried rice I had for lunch was undeniably delicious. It might be because I love fried rice so much. I don't think it cost more than 1500 yen, but I can't remember the exact amount. I was able to walk in and get a table for lunch on a weekday, so I would like to visit again.

It is located above the Hakuhinkan. I have only been to Khan before, so this was my first visit. The restaurant has a luxurious atmosphere. On weekends and holidays, they offer a special lunch set with Mapo Tofu (spicy) for 2000 yen. When I ordered, they mentioned that there are both spicy and non-spicy options, so I chose the spicy one. Since it is a Sichuan cuisine restaurant, I assume that spicy is the default option, but there are probably people who don't like spicy food. The set includes shark fin soup, cold dish, pickled vegetables, almond jelly, and rice. The Mapo Tofu had a lot of Sichuan peppercorns, giving it a numbing spiciness that was delicious. I wished it was a bit spicier (laughs). My friend ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken, and I tried a bit. It was not Sweet and Sour Pork, but Sweet and Sour Chicken, with a good balance of sourness and sweetness. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is relaxing, and I ended up staying longer than planned. It's a recommended place when you want to eat delicious Chinese food casually. I will definitely order the Mapo Tofu again on my next visit. Thank you for the meal.

I had a sudden craving for Mapo Tofu and came here. The restaurant is clean and lives up to the image of a Chinese restaurant in Ginza. The Mapo Tofu had a slight bitterness to it, typical of Sichuan cuisine, and the numbing sensation was strong and delicious. The best part was the generous portion size, with unlimited rice refills. I left satisfied.

I revisited during a weekday lunchtime. I ordered the business lunch set (soup, main dish, rice, pickles, almond jelly: tax included 1,400 yen). I asked for the Sichuan-style mapo tofu to be extra spicy. The mapo tofu had a generous portion, enough to share between 2 or 3 people. Not only was the quantity impressive, but the quality was also outstanding. It had a rich and bold flavor, with plenty of meat miso that almost covered the tofu. Truly an exemplary dish. The rice was cooked slightly firm. This time, I restrained myself and only had 2 servings, but with the amount of mapo tofu, you could probably have 3 or 4 servings of rice.

At a traditional high-end Japanese Chinese restaurant, I felt the meticulous preparation and careful work. I ordered shrimp soup noodles, pork and vegetable stir-fried noodles, and almond jelly for dessert. The shrimp soup noodles had plump shrimp prepared with attention to detail, and the broth was rich with chicken broth, a classic shrimp noodle dish. Next, the pork and vegetable stir-fried noodles were delicious with finely sliced pork, bamboo shoots, and vegetables in a thick sauce, bringing out maximum flavor. I heard about the almond jelly dessert and decided to try it. It was a delicate almond jelly served in a chilled soup, with a subtle sweetness and elegance that you don't often find elsewhere. While Chinese restaurants nowadays offer a variety of creative dishes like Tohoku cuisine and Sichuan cuisine, traditional high-end Japanese Chinese restaurants like Ginza Momokagen with their unchanged menu provide a sense of comfort and reassurance. I immediately felt like coming back again.

In Ginza, there is a Chinese Szechuan cuisine restaurant called "Ginza Toukagen." When I arrived around 1:00 pm on a weekday, the restaurant was full so I had to put my name down and wait for a bit. The spacious seating arrangement and calm, luxurious atmosphere create a relaxing dining experience. They offer four types of business lunch sets for 1400 yen each, and I ordered the Szechuan-style mapo tofu. It came with rice, soup, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly. The mapo tofu was authentically spicy, with a classic Szechuan flavor that was consistently delicious. The rice and soup were also tasty and comforting, making it a satisfying meal overall.

Business lunch set with mapo tofu. I try to look at the menu to consider other options, but end up choosing it every time. It's really delicious. I always try not to eat too much rice, but it's always a challenge. This was my first visit to Hakuhinkan, and I felt it was even more delicious than before.

A stylish Chinese restaurant in Ginza. The mapo tofu is recommended, with a perfect level of spiciness for Japanese taste. Each dish has a unique touch, making it great for both dates and casual dining. The spring rolls are especially recommended, priced at around 400 yen and very delicious.

I suddenly felt like having mapo tofu. Everyone was saying how delicious it was, so I decided to have a solo lunch. I thought I arrived early, but there were already several groups waiting. I looked at the menu, but of course, I ordered the mapo tofu! It was just... "Oh, I love it!" I thought as I devoured it. I'm not sure what makes it different. Honestly, I can enjoy mapo tofu from places like Osho, but this one is completely different. It's light and not too oily, not too thick either. And there was quite a lot of it! I debated whether to get a second serving of rice, but decided against it. I was full. But in terms of balance with the mapo tofu, I wanted more white rice! And even though I came for the mapo tofu, the egg stir-fry that the person next to me was eating looked delicious. I might end up coming back for that.

I realized that I have never tried the mapo tofu at this restaurant before, so this time I chose the business lunch option (¥1,400) with mapo tofu. Even though I visited after 1:00 PM, the restaurant was full. Located on the 5th floor of the Ginza Hakuhinkan, there were quite a few well-dressed office workers here. The service from the staff is also of a high standard. Unlike many other dining places where they rush you to finish quickly during lunch peak hours, here they truly say "please take your time." The seating is spacious and you don't have to squeeze next to other diners. If you have some extra time and want to enjoy a leisurely lunch, it's worth paying a bit more for this place. After a wait of about 7-8 minutes, the mapo tofu arrived in a white clay pot. The aroma of Sichuan pepper immediately fills the table. It looks spicy and exciting. I prefer not to break up the tofu too much, so I scoop it up with a spoon as it is. The first bite brings a sharp spiciness from the chili pepper, followed by the numbing sensation of the Sichuan pepper spreading in the mouth, and then a gradual umami flavor. In short, it's delicious! The rice and premium egg soup help reset the mouth before continuing with the mapo tofu. You can get a rice refill, but deciding how to balance it with the mapo tofu is part of the fun. The almond jelly dessert serves as a palate cleanser, soothing the fiery sensation in the mouth. It's creamy and sweet, a satisfying end to the meal. Personally, I trust Chinese restaurants that serve rich and delicious almond jelly desserts. Everything I've tried here is delicious. As a Sichuan cuisine restaurant, the mapo tofu had a great balance of spiciness, numbing sensation, and umami flavor. I look forward to trying the hot and sour soup noodles next time. Thank you for the meal. I'll definitely be back!

I visited this restaurant before when it was located on Namiki Street, but this is my first visit since it moved to Hakuhinkan. The restaurant area in Hakuhinkan is surprisingly spacious, so I recommend going with a large group. Even the small portion dishes are quite generous, enough for three people (they have regular and half-size small portions). We ended up calling for backup halfway through the meal. I tried asking if they could serve the Maotai liquor in a bottle for ¥5,500, and surprisingly they agreed. But I ended up drinking too much and had to order a second bottle. We started with three appetizers (which were already in small portions): jellyfish, cold chicken, BBQ pork, stir-fried pork and seasonal vegetables, shrimp chili, stir-fried water spinach, spring rolls, shumai, and mapo tofu. The classic Chinese dishes were consistently delicious. The lesson learned is to tackle these large Chinese dishes with three or more people. That's all! It was a great meal, thank you!

In July, I had to go on another business trip, so I had to hand over my current position to my junior colleague, K. After our handover meeting, it was lunchtime. I invited K to "Ginza Toukagen" where we could enjoy a relaxing and delicious lunch. The business lunch here includes tasty side dishes, soup, rice, and a fantastic almond jelly for only 1,400 yen, which is a great deal in Ginza. K ordered the sweet and sour sauce chicken, while I ordered the beef oyster sauce stir-fry for us to share. The rice was refillable, and a normal serving was already satisfying. The egg and tomato soup was refreshing and appetizing. I tried the oil-drizzled chicken for the first time, and it was delicious. The meat quality and seasoning were excellent. The beef in oyster sauce was rich and made me crave a beer. For dessert, we had almond jelly, which was authentic and flavorful, especially with coconut milk. We had a great time chatting about work and other topics, making it feel more like a chat with a close friend than a junior colleague. However, we had to head back to the office after settling the bill.

On Saturday afternoon, I visited a restaurant that offers a special lunch menu for weekends for 2000 yen with 4 choices. You can choose between regular mapo tofu and Sichuan-style mapo tofu, which is said to be spicy with the flavor of Sichuan pepper. You can also adjust the spiciness level up to very spicy. The restaurant is clean, with spacious tables and wide seat spacing, making it a comfortable place to dine. The staff are all polite and friendly. The mapo tofu is deliciously spicy, and you can have unlimited rice refills. The shark fin soup and almond jelly dessert are also tasty. This place seems suitable for a date. If you want to eat mapo tofu in Ginza, this place seems like a good choice.
