The name and atmosphere of the shop made me think it was a Japanese confectionery, but it actually specializes in Western-style sweets like Baumkuchen, Sablé, and Madeleine. The sweets have a refined Japanese touch to them. I tried the Sablé, and its crumbly texture was delicious. It's nice that they offer single pieces of each sweet for purchase so you can try them out.

After finishing lunch at a traditional Japanese restaurant, I decided to buy a souvenir for my dad at this shop. Located on a street just off Shirayama Street, I entered the shop and found one other customer already being served by the staff. This shop was established in 1892 in Hyogo Prefecture, with its headquarters in Tanba City. Known for their Tanba specialties, I could only find chestnut cake donuts due to the season. So I chose two chestnut cake donuts (220 yen each), a Tanba heart baum (250 yen) in black bean and kinako flavor, and a chocolate flavor. When I got home, I tasted everything before my dad could eat them, to avoid them disappearing before he got a chance (haha). The chestnut cake donuts were different from regular donuts as they were baked in an oven instead of fried, giving them a subtle sweetness that allowed the chestnut flavor to shine through. The Tanba heart baum in black bean and kinako had a nice Japanese flavor that paired well with green tea, although I found the coating on the outside too sweet for my taste. The chocolate flavor had a distinct cocoa taste but was a bit dry in texture. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy any chestnut treats this time, but I look forward to revisiting during chestnut season to try their chestnut dorayaki or chestnut Tanba heart baum. Keep up the good work. Thank you for the meal.

Yanagawa, with its headquarters in Tanba City, Hyogo Prefecture, has a Tokyo branch where you can buy their products. One of their popular items is the "Tanshin Baum Mochi Kome Black Soy Sauce" for 590 yen. It has a mochi-like texture made with mochi rice and soy sauce kneaded into the dough. The moist and slightly sweet-salty dough is incredibly delicious! While Yanagawa is known for black beans and chestnuts, their Baumkuchen is worth a try! It's a new sensation that might remind you of mitarashi dango or isobe yaki. Additionally, their limited edition autumn special, the Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc, is highly recommended. This product is quite popular and may sell out quickly, so it's best to go early. The Mont Blanc and chestnuts arranged in a wooden box like a Hinomaru bento are visually stunning and interesting. The taste is rich in chestnut flavor with a hint of Japanese confectionery in the Mont Blanc.

There is a shop near Kasuga Station on the Toei Mita Line that serves delicious sweets made with ingredients from Tanba, Hyogo Prefecture. Their specialty seems to be Mont Blanc and Baumkuchen made with Tanba chestnuts, but personally, I was impressed by the dorayaki made with Tanba's Daigaku beans. It was so delicious. I can't wait to try the Mont Blanc next time.

A shop near Korakuen Station or Kasuga Station that specializes in takeout. The most recommended item to order is the Baumkuchen. The price range of products is ¥300 to ¥1000. Overall evaluation: Taste (moist and fluffy, soft when eaten, not too sweet), Satisfaction (easy to eat and can finish in one day, filling because it's made with rice flour but delicious). Product quality 80 points, service 70 points, cleanliness 70 points. Overall rating is 73 points out of 100. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity. Thank you for the meal.

I discovered a local shop from Tamba in a place like Kasuga! They have a wide variety of snacks and beans! Premium Donuts ★ Moist donuts with plenty of Zarami. The texture is great! Tanshin Baum Mochi Rice Black Bean Soy Sauce ★ Very shiny! I've never had soy sauce Baumkuchen before. Tanshin Baum Soft Black Bean Kinako ★ The surface is crispy, and the Baum is very soft! It had a slight flavor of kinako powder. Black Bean Onigiri ★ Made with all Tamba ingredients. The salted rice ball with plenty of seaweed is delicious. The large black beans added a nice touch with a slightly firm texture.

Last year, I visited a newly opened shop that offers a variety of Japanese and Western-style sweets. I purchased a black bean roll cake and "Tanba no Makimono," which is a chestnut milk jam. The roll cake has a long shelf life and the cream inside has a buttercream-like texture. The black beans add a nice sweetness and texture. The sponge part is firm and moist. The chestnut jam has a very elegant taste. It is not overly strong in chestnut flavor, with a subtle sweetness and chestnut essence. I really liked the gentle taste. They had many products featuring Tanba chestnuts. It was a great shop with a variety of stylish products.

Located in the middle of a slope, this antenna shop of a tea manufacturer that has been in business for 25 years is a chic establishment that opened in 2018. The shop is spacious and carefully showcases specialty products from the Tamba region. The eye-catching items include chestnut sweets and baked goods such as Baumkuchen made with local milk and chicken eggs. When it comes to Tamba, black beans are a must-try. The "Black Bean Onigiri" made with black beans and Tamba Koshihikari rice is only available on weekdays. The natural sweetness of the black beans combined with the deliciousness of the rice is a delight. Looking forward to the seasonal offering of "Tamba Tanshin," a famous confection from Yanagawa made with chestnuts, available after autumn.

A shop that sells specialty products and sweets using local produce harvested in Tango. They have a wide variety of products made from Tango chestnuts, with their "Japanese Mont Blanc" being particularly popular for online orders. Their chestnut minced meat dish is like a yellow Hinomaru bento, with a whole chestnut in the center. Unfortunately, their chestnut pudding was sold out this year due to low harvest, but there are hopes for next year. The "Ofukunosato" is a delicate steamed bun with a soft skin filled with plump Tango red bean paste. It was a delicious treat.

This is a shop that opened on September 21, 2018. I visited on the third day of its opening in the morning! I initially thought it was a traditional Japanese sweets shop using Tamba chestnuts, but they also have a variety of cakes such as Baumkuchen and rare cheesecake. It's not a big shop, but they offer a wide selection of sweets, making it hard to choose. Here are some of the items I tried:
- Tamba chestnut rich pudding 480 yen
- Raw chestnut sweet potato "Kurigayaki" 400 yen
- Blueberry rare cheesecake 280 yen
- Premium dorayaki 280 yen
- Cake donut with chestnut 220 yen
- Cake donut with sweet red bean paste 220 yen
- Tamba heart baum mini milk jam 250 yen
I particularly enjoyed the chestnut sweet potato and chestnut pudding. While the shop mainly focuses on chestnut sweets, they also offer a variety of Western-style cakes. Considering the shop's name includes "Tamba," it might be clearer if they focused on being a chestnut specialty Japanese sweets shop. They also offer delivery service, making it a good option for gifts.

Bunkyo-ku PayPay 30% cashback eligible! Dorayaki! It's amazing how it doesn't lose its shape. The skin is thin but chewy and soft! The red bean paste is also delicious, even though there's not much of it!

It's delicious! It's worth considering as a souvenir if you happen to be nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Personally, if I were to spend over 1500 yen on a box, I would prefer to eat a famous Mont Blanc dessert in Tokyo or order chestnut sweets from Shiga.

I looked for souvenirs in the current location. The quickest way is to search on "Tabelog". I adjusted the range to "Newly Opened" and "Sweets" and did an area search... Oh... that's how I found this shop. I vaguely remember that my companion likes chestnuts, so I decided to visit the shop as it was a good time for it. I remember they opened at 10 o'clock. It was a good time for me to visit. I arrived. It's a new shop, isn't it? It opened on September 12, 2018, so it's been about a month since then. It has a fresh atmosphere. I like it. I looked around. Various items. I picked up some items. I gave up on refrigerated items as they were for the day and bought some baked goods instead. I thought at first that everything had chestnuts in it, but it seems that they use ingredients typical of Tanba. When you understand this, you might want to look up the area a bit and maybe even visit it. The items made with chestnuts were very moist. I also bought Baumkuchen, which had my preferred level of sweetness. That's my note.

I stopped by to buy a gift for a friend's house and decided to get a rare cheesecake for 280 yen. It was the perfect size and tasted delicious for the price. I would like to visit again when I have the chance because it's convenient, affordable, and I could also use cashless payment.

A new branch of "TAMBA FU-DO" has opened today on the nearby Masagozaka, close to Kasuga Station. Originating from the birthplace of Kasuga Station, the city of Tanba, this branch is located near the Kasuga Station's founder's temple, Rinsho-in. Tanba is famous for its black soybeans and chestnuts, and this branch has opened just in time for chestnut season! Try their chestnut sweet "Kuribayashi Kagayaki" made with a specific variety of Tanba chestnuts called Mikuri, known for its delicious and fluffy texture. Previously known as "Ishimizu Brush Industry," a company that produced and sold brushes, they have sold their own building and relocated their production department. Known for their high-quality products suitable for cleaning scientific instruments, they have been a topic of discussion among university staff. The area around Masagozaka to Yushima is known for its many stores and companies specializing in medical devices and equipment, including microscopes and prosthetics. In this neighborhood, you will find the long-established "Tsuboya Sohonten" and the popular confectionery shop "Chukashi Kurogi" in Kasuga Mon. We look forward to seeing the unique personality of TAMBA FU-DO shine in the future.
