On this day, after finishing work on a holiday, I met up with my husband in front of the station. We had a specific izakaya in mind that we wanted to go to, but my husband was too tired to walk, so we ended up going to "Tengu Dai Hall", a popular stand-up bar chain located near Hachioji Station North Exit Rotary. Although I had used this place a long time ago when I was younger, my husband mentioned that "Tengu" group izakayas are affordable and often frequented by his coworkers for a casual drink. The restaurant had a pop-style exterior with a familiar red Tengu mascot. We were seated at a table and started off with a draft beer and a lemon sour for a toast. The first drink was ordered verbally, but the rest of the orders were placed through a mobile ordering system. The atmosphere inside was reminiscent of a Showa-era casual dining spot, with older men drinking at the counter and groups of young girls at the tables. We ordered some dishes including fresh bell pepper potato salad, chicken liver sashimi, simmered tripe with tofu, chicken thigh skewers, spicy fried burdock, and a large tower of lemon sour. The standout dish was the ikura fried rice which was generously topped with salmon roe and had a delicious flavor. The fried rice was made to order in a wok, which was a nice touch. Overall, the food was affordable and tasty, making it a good option for those looking for a casual dining experience without any appetizers and good value for money. We paid a total of ¥4,884 for two people using a credit card. It was a satisfying meal and drinks, thank you!

Holiday visit. I was planning to do leg training at the gym and then replenish my nutrients at Lamb-chan with Genghis Khan, but unfortunately all stores were closed for training. Feeling disappointed, I decided to go to "Tengu Dai Hall" and ordered the Senbero menu for 1200 yen, which includes 10 coins. I used 2 coins for a draft beer, which came in a cute mug with the restaurant's logo (though the foam was not great). The fried egg and cabbage cost 1 coin (good deal due to the high cost of eggs). The fried chicken gizzards with yuzu pepper flavor cost 2 coins. After the beer, I had 3 coins left. I decided to use the QR code to order, which was convenient like at Lamb-chan.

After leaving "Kururaku Sushi" at Tengu Dai Hall in Hachioji, I searched for a second restaurant. The next restaurant was right nearby, so I quickly found it. This is "Tengu Dai Hall." It was around 1:30 PM, so of course, it's a place where you can have lunch drinks. I was seated at the counter by the staff as soon as I entered. I immediately ordered the menu I had decided on beforehand, which is called "Senbero." However, it costs 1320 yen including tax, so it's quite a bit over a thousand yen. Let me explain this Senbero. First, when you order a set, you get 10 chips. These chips can be exchanged for various drinks and snacks. This choice is what makes it interesting. I noticed that there were sets that included meals as well. For my drink, I chose Hoppy, of course. The Hoppy set costs 3 chips. The staff brought the chips from the case and took three chips. So, I had 7 chips left. Making Hoppy is a bit tricky, especially for the second place, so I made it a bit stronger. Hoppy is still the best. Snacks were also served. This was "Shime Saba." Two coins disappeared. One coin is equivalent to 132 yen, so it's 264 yen, which is also cheap. So, the Hoppy set is 396 yen. This place is also quiet and comfortable. After about 20 minutes, my Hoppy was empty, so I ordered a refill. The staff poured the Hoppy into the glass with ice. The refill cost only 1 chip. So, I had 4 chips left. It's fun to plan ahead while looking at the chips. For the second snack, I chose "Fried Cabbage with Soft-Boiled Egg" using one chip, which is amazing. However, there was no sauce on the table. When I asked a passing staff member if there was any sauce, they quickly brought it to me. It was a pack of medium-thick sauce. Well, I prefer Worcestershire sauce for cabbage, but this will do. The soft-boiled egg was quite good. After drinking for another 15 minutes, I ordered another refill. In the end, I finished one bottle of Hoppy with three refills. However, at this point, I still had 2 chips left. Now, the final challenge is how to use the remaining two chips. I could order another drink, but I decided to go for a snack. I found "Fried Salted Young Corn" that can be ordered with two chips. I ordered this immediately. After a short wait, it arrived. The young corn was a great choice. It was delicious and perfectly salted. This was definitely the right decision. After about an hour of staying, I left the restaurant. You can get properly drunk with just 1200 yen. With a variety of snacks, this is a place you would want to visit multiple times. Well, thank you for the meal.

I enjoyed a daytime drinking session with Senbero set. When you order a Senbero set, you are given 10 coins, and you hand over the appropriate coins to the staff based on the item you ordered. For example, a lemon sour costs 1 coin, while a saba mackerel costs 2 coins. The taste is decent, but I thought the cost performance was good.

Visited a chain izakaya on Sunday at 3:30 PM, with about 50% occupancy. Had 2 draft beers for ¥319 each, Nori Maki Toro Taku Tower for ¥495, and Chicken Liver Sashimi for ¥429. Went after getting a haircut in the evening for a solo drink. While I enjoy independent restaurants, I also like chain establishments. Sat at the counter seat in a bright and clean hall on the 2nd floor of a building. Ordered beer and appetizers promptly. Nori Maki Toro Taku Tower: a mix of Negitoro and pickled radish, drizzled with soy sauce, wasabi, and rolled in seaweed. Chicken Liver Sashimi: served with salt at the bottom, the sweetness of the liver was enhanced by the beer. Will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

I used it on my way back from shopping. It is a dining-style izakaya located just a short walk from Hachioji Station, which has been a topic of conversation on social media. I had been curious about it for a while but never had the chance to go until now. The interior of the restaurant is clean and bright, with spacious table seating, tatami seating, and a counter. There are also smoking booths available, and the convenience of having TVs in the restaurant. There is no table charge, and all the menu items are quite cheap! As it is a dining-style place, there were various set meal options available. I started with a toast with a draft beer (Sapporo Black Label) and ordered a variety of dishes. I ordered thigh and heart skewers with sauce. The sweet and salty sauce is rich in flavor and goes well with alcohol. The heart skewers were quite small and lacked the texture and taste of heart, which was disappointing. The thighs, on the other hand, were relatively satisfying. The fried chicken was large and crispy, with juicy meat inside. The seasoning was also well done, making it quite tasty. The grilled dumplings had a commercial taste and the filling was small, so it was not to my liking. The mille-feuille ham tempura with cheese is a recommended dish for cheese lovers. The melted cheese, the texture of the ham, and the crispy coating make for a delightful snack. To finish, I had the generous portion of roasted pork fried rice! It was loaded with pork slices, tender and sweet. The fried rice was flavorful and satisfying. If you're looking to drink and eat cheaply, this place is recommended. Thank you for the meal.

I went to a newly opened restaurant in front of Hachioji Station. The neon sign outside looks cute. When you take the elevator up, you see a nice Showa era entrance. Seeing the words "Napolitan" in this atmosphere makes me want to eat it. It must be served on a silver plate. Let's start with a lemon sour toast! The frozen lemon is stylish. There were quite a few older people drinking alone. The ham cutlet is decent as a snack. The yakitori is like, well, it seems to be frozen. The karaage has little meat... The Naponapo is cheap, so it's okay. If you want to eat and drink cheaply, it's a good option!

I wanted to have a drink with some yakitori, so I went to a place but it was crowded. I ended up at a large chain izakaya called "Tengu Dai Hall Hachioji Branch" where yakitori starts at 90 yen each and beer at 290 yen. It's a big restaurant with 130 seats and is part of the Tengu izakaya chain with 6 locations in Tokyo and Saitama. The place was about 40% full when I visited in May 2022. I had some beer, highball, and cilantro lemon sour, and tried some yakitori and steak. The food was decent and reasonably priced, but the portions were small. The anchovy mayo potato fries were tasty. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I enjoyed the experience.

Tengu has been renovated and has a new open and casual interior, similar to an Italian-style Tengu dining that used to be a favorite near Keio Hachioji Station at Pharma 802 underground, which unfortunately closed down. When I entered, the place was bustling with 7-8 people, mostly young customers. I was seated at a table for four next to a college student who was in the middle of job hunting. The table eventually grew to five people with the addition of extra chairs. I struck up a conversation with the students about job interviews and recommended responding with "first-choice group" when asked about their top choice, as most students are not familiar with many companies besides the very famous ones. I ordered the ramen set with half-fried rice and 3 gyoza for 1089 yen, along with a Tower Lemon Sour for 429 yen. The ramen had better noodles than Hidakaya, but the soup was lacking a bit, and the gyoza was average. The Tower Lemon Sour looked good but was weak on alcohol. The standout dish was the fried rice, which was delicious and flavorful. Overall, it was a quick and tasty meal.

The old Charcoal Tengu was cheap and delicious, so I used to visit regularly. This was my first visit after the renovation. First, the table was dirty, the wet towel was torn, and the soy sauce was empty... This seemed bad. When I looked at the menu, it was completely different from the old Tengu. I ordered fish cake sticks, fried chicken, fried rice, and chicken liver sashimi. The fish cake sticks lacked salt, and there was no salt available. The chicken liver sashimi was not raw but cooked at low temperature. Thanks to the sesame oil, there was no unpleasant smell, so I enjoyed it. The fried rice was decently seasoned and had a good texture. I also ordered Napolitan, which was chewy and tasty but tasted like frozen food. Everything was served in small portions. The cost performance is much worse than before. I visited on a Saturday night at 7 pm, which used to be peak hours with full seats, but that day there were only 4-5 groups and one individual. I felt that the customers were honest.
