In March, I visited Harbin Gyoza at Horikiri Ayame Park in Tokyo in the evening, which is rated 3.70/243 reviews. The restaurant is located near Horikiri Ayame Park Station, surrounded by traditional low-cost shops and delicatessens. It is about a 5-minute walk away, with a historical exterior that seems to offer takeout service. The interior also exudes a sense of history, with only a counter seating arrangement and elderly Chinese couple running the place. The menu offers a variety of gyoza options, including some with offal, at very affordable prices. I decided to try their gyoza dishes. The pan-fried gyoza priced at 350 yen had a crispy exterior and a juicy filling, although the skin was slightly thick. The tomato water gyoza priced at 400 yen was recommended by the owner and had a refreshing tomato aroma, with a smooth and plump skin. I also tried the Shaoxing wine priced at 400 yen, which was served slightly warm. Additionally, I ordered the pork ear and celery salad for 350 yen, which was a generous portion and had a delicious blend of flavors and textures. Overall, I had a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience at Harbin Gyoza, and I look forward to trying more of their menu options in the future.

The Chinese food at Horikiri Ayame Garden is popular among locals, with both takeout and dine-in options always busy. Everything is delicious, but the tomato dumplings and three-flavor dumplings were exceptional. Perhaps because the couple who run the restaurant used to work in Harbin in the medical field, their dishes have a kind and comforting taste. Yet, they are also incredibly flavorful. Thank you for the wonderful meal. #GyozaClub #HorikiriAyameGarden

Near Horikiri-Shobuen Station, there is a gyoza restaurant known for its juicy gyoza with a chewy and thick skin that overflows with meat juice. The interior of the restaurant is very small, with only enough space for 4-5 people at the counter. Local customers seem to prefer takeout. The elderly couple from Harbin who run the restaurant had to take a break last year due to a traffic accident. They have recently reopened, but the owner is still undergoing rehabilitation and can only offer gyoza for a short period each day. The pan-fried gyoza is filled with plenty of flavorful meat juice in a homemade chewy skin, so be careful when eating. The "San-Xian" dumplings are made with a chewy homemade skin filled with the flavors of shrimp, scallops, and dried shrimp. The tomato dumplings were a new experience with their tangy filling. The xiao long bao, with its thick homemade skin and flavorful filling, provides a satisfying bite. It is recommended to eat the "San-Xian" and tomato dumplings without dipping sauce. I hope the owner can stay healthy and continue serving these delicious gyoza for as long as possible.

A small restaurant with only 5 counter seats. It was ranked as one of the top 100 gyoza restaurants in 2019 and 2021. The name is pronounced Harbin, not Harpin. I visited a little before the opening time of 12:00 and there was no line. Currently, they are only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00 to 16:00 for counter seating and 12:00 to 18:00 for takeout. Please be aware that they only operate during these hours. I ordered the tomato gyoza and pan-fried gyoza. Both the steamed and pan-fried gyoza have a round shape with thick skins. The tomato gyoza had a filling made of meat mixed with tomato, not a whole tomato inside. It is recommended to eat them without soy sauce to enjoy the refreshing flavor that spreads in your mouth. The pan-fried gyoza had a thick skin with a nice crispy texture and no garlic. It was made with only cabbage and meat. The staff was attentive and considerate, offering water when needed.

Keisei Line Horikiri-Shobuen is a gyoza restaurant located right nearby. They also serve ramen, but unfortunately, they are currently closed due to a traffic accident and undergoing rehabilitation. There is a sign in front of the shop indicating their operating hours are from 12:00 to 18:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. When I visited in mid-July, they were closed, and the sign confirmed their operating schedule. I hope they recover soon and return to their regular business days. A local customer mentioned that they are undergoing rehabilitation twice a week. The staff, possibly sisters, conversed in Chinese and were fluent in Japanese. Upon entering the shop, they warmly welcomed me and offered delicious water to drink. I ordered pan-fried gyoza and tomato water gyoza. The tomato water gyoza had a juicy filling of meat and tomato, with no visible tomato skin or seeds. The meat was mixed with tomato, resulting in a juicy filling. The skin of the gyoza was not too thick, making it easy to eat. The pan-fried gyoza was also juicy and delicious. Compared to other Chinese dumplings, the skin was slightly thinner, so be careful as the delicious filling may overflow. It was a delightful encounter with an affordable and tasty gyoza restaurant. I hope they stay healthy and keep up the good work. I look forward to visiting again. They are a recipient of the Gyoza Top 100 award in 2021.

Located right next to Horikiri-Shobuen Station, there are a few places where you can park on the street in front of the shop. The owner's mother was in a traffic accident at Kameari Station, so it seems that Mondays or Tuesdays are hospital days, and they are open on other days. They are not serving ramen due to her injury and treatment. I tried the pan-fried dumplings and leek dumplings, both filled with plenty of juicy meat and very delicious. Takeout is also available. Highly recommended.

- Tomato Dumplings (5 pieces) for 450 yen - Pan-Fried Dumplings (5 pieces) for 400 yen I visited a popular dumpling specialty restaurant in Katsushika, Tokyo. Located about a 2-minute walk from Horikiri Shobuen Station, "Harbin Gyoza" offers Tomato Dumplings and Pan-Fried Dumplings. I ordered both dishes. The Tomato Dumplings have a unique filling of tomato wrapped in thick dumpling skin. The skin is incredibly chewy, and the combination of tomato sweetness, acidity, and pork umami creates a juicy and delicious dumpling. Initially, I ordered it out of curiosity, but it turned out to be so delicious that I would want to eat it again! The Pan-Fried Dumplings have a crispy and fragrant thick skin, with a generous amount of pork filling. The flavor is well-balanced even without dipping sauce, and it was also very tasty. Currently, they have stopped selling other menu items like noodles, which was a bit disappointing. This is a place that will make you want to try their other dumpling varieties!

On Sunday morning, I took my friend Rei to a chiropractic session and then we were deciding where to have lunch. We ended up at Harupin Gyoza, a place I hadn't been to since my late twenties. The restaurant was full, so we had to wait a few minutes before being seated at the counter. There were only five counter seats available. I ordered Set A, which included ramen and pan-fried gyoza for 700 yen, while Rei ordered the same. She also added tomato water dumplings for 400 yen. The customers were mostly women enjoying gyoza with drinks during the day. The food was served in 15 minutes. The ramen soup had a slightly cloudy appearance and a soy sauce flavor, although it was a bit light. The noodles were medium thickness and satisfying to eat. The pork slices were tender and melted in the mouth. The set also included flat menma bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, and a boiled egg. Afterwards, the pan-fried gyoza arrived. I thought there would be three pieces since it was a set, but there were actually five pieces. It was a pleasant surprise. The gyoza skin was chewy, the filling moist, and the meat juices oozed out gently. Truly deserving of being called a top gyoza restaurant. Rei tried the tomato water dumplings, and the refreshing acidity of the tomatoes made the skin smooth and delicious. The owners, a Chinese couple, spoke broken Japanese that I found nostalgic, as if I had heard it 25 years ago. I hope they continue serving delicious gyoza for a long time. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant is located just a 1-minute walk from Horikiri Shobuen Station, right near a big intersection. The small space inside has only 4 counter seats, with many customers opting for takeout. I visited around 4 pm and saw an elderly couple managing the place. I ordered a glass of Shaoxing wine, pig ear and celery salad, pan-fried dumplings, and wonton noodles. The pig ear had a chewy texture and strong salty flavor, which paired well with the celery and the aroma of the wine. The Shaoxing wine, though slightly warmed, had a strong astringent and bitter taste that I couldn't quite enjoy. The pan-fried dumplings were juicy and flavorful, with a chewy skin that complemented the light meat filling. However, the wonton noodles in soy milk broth lacked depth and flavor, leaving a disappointing taste. The wontons had a fancy appearance but lacked in taste and texture, falling short of expectations. Although the flavors didn't suit my preference, I admired the kind service of the couple and their dedication to running the shop, honoring their noble spirit in my heart. Thank you!

I visited Horikiri Shobuen for the first time. At first, I wasn't sure if it was a ramen shop or a Chinese restaurant, as there are many Chinese restaurants in the area. The retro exterior didn't give it away easily. The shop had only 5 counter seats, and the woman running it seemed like she might be from Harupin. I ordered the recommended coriander dumplings for 450 yen and wonton noodles for 650 yen. When asked about the firmness of the noodles, I followed the trend and requested firm noodles. The food was delicious, but the cleanliness was a bit lacking, which is important to me. Overall, it was a good meal for this season.

B set meal 700 yen including tax. Half rice with pan-fried dumplings. Wontons - about 10 pieces in a bowl similar to ramen. Thick noodles in the same soup as the pork noodles, with bean sprouts and bamboo shoots, quite filling. The pan-fried dumplings have a chewy thick skin and the filling is well seasoned, so they were satisfying even without sauce. It was a bit cramped with 5 people at the counter.

A Chinese restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Horikiri Shobuen Station. I ordered the ramen and gyoza set for lunch on a weekday. You can choose between fried and boiled gyoza, and this time I chose fried. Both were just average. It's said to be a popular spot, but I found the place small and not very comfortable to eat in. However, for 700 yen, it's quite cheap, don't you think?

I went to an event at Horikiri Shobuen where they were serving Taro noodles for 700 yen including tax. I had tried their takeout before, but never had the chance to dine in until now. During the event, the Taro noodles were priced at 700 yen instead of the usual 800 yen, so I decided to order it. When asked about the firmness of the noodles, I requested them to be cooked normally. However, the noodles turned out to be softer than I had expected, resembling more of a miso ramen. The dish came with two large pieces of Taro, crunchy bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and a seasoned egg. Although I prefer firmer noodles, I found myself enjoying the unique broth and thick slices of pork.

I went for a walk on Sunday and visited Horikiri Shobuen for the first time in a while. There is a curry restaurant that I love here, but today I was aiming for Harbin dumplings. Despite just opening, there are only four counter seats available! I managed to slip into the last available seat. I ordered pan-fried dumplings, assorted dumplings, and rice. The timing of everything coming out together was perfect! First, I tried the assortment of pork offal, which is highly recommended. It includes pork tongue, pork ear, and heart mixed with leeks and celery in salt. It was really delicious. The combination of celery and leeks was perfect, and even for someone who doesn't drink alcohol, the chopsticks couldn't stop moving. The dumplings had a chewy skin and a mild filling without garlic. It had a gentle taste like home cooking, and I could eat as many as I wanted. I also added the tomato water dumplings. These were even chewier and thicker than the pan-fried dumplings, as if they had absorbed water. When you bite into them, the soup comes out like xiaolongbao. It was a dish that made me realize how well tomato acidity goes with dumplings. The restaurant is run by a lovely elderly couple, and it seems to have many loyal fans. The total bill was 1450 yen. This is an amazing cost-performance and taste in Tokyo. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Visited during the daytime on a holiday in January 2022. I came to this town while taking a walk and did some research. This place is even smaller than a typical Chinese restaurant, with only a counter to sit at. You choose your dishes from the menu posted above and tell the elderly owner and his wife your order. I ordered: - Grilled dumplings (5 pieces) for 350 yen - Boiled dumplings (5 pieces) for 350 yen - Ramen (soy sauce flavor) for 480 yen The boiled dumplings were chewy and soft, served in a small plate with garlic on top, so I enjoyed them with garlic soy sauce for an extra kick. The grilled dumplings had the perfect balance of flavors, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with juicy meat. The ramen, priced at just under 500 yen, was a great deal. The medium-thick noodles had a satisfying texture and the ramen was delicious. The counter seating was a bit cramped, making it difficult to move when other customers came in, but it was worth it for the amazing food. The glass windows let in sunlight, making it pleasantly warm even in winter. I realized later that the photos didn't turn out well due to the sunlight, my mistake! Thank you for the delicious meal!

This shop is well-known for its water dumplings, with a chewy skin that is very delicious. They offer unique varieties like tomato water dumplings and coriander water dumplings. My favorite is the stir-fried pork ears seasoned with celery, salt, and pepper, which pairs perfectly with alcohol. The pan-fried dumplings also have a chewy skin that sets them apart from other shops. The couple who run the shop often return to China for extended periods, so it's important to be aware that they may be closed. The shop has limited seating, so there may be times when you cannot get a table, but they also offer takeout and frozen dumplings for convenient stockpiling at home.

The appearance of the shop is located about a 5-minute walk from Horikiri Shobuen Station on the Keisei Main Line. There is a big red tent with the name of the shop written in kanji as "Harupin Gyoza". There is a takeout-only window on the side of the store. It seems to be popular as I visit quite frequently. When I entered the store, I was surprised. It is a small shop with only 5 counter seats. However, sitting down and having a meal is comfortable. The menu is posted above the counter. Everything is very cheap, about the price of a coin. I thought it was just a menu for snacks, but they also have ramen and lunch sets. Bottle of beer "Bottle of beer 500 yen". I entered the store without any intention of drinking, but ended up having a drink. Menma appetizer "Menma appetizer 350 yen". It has a good volume for the price. It may vary in softness or hardness, but the sweet seasoning and refreshing taste of green onions make it delicious. Assorted platter "Assorted platter 500 yen". It includes pork ears, tongue, and heart. The meat is tender and has a good chewy texture. The combination of green onions and celery makes it easy to enjoy with just this dish. Water dumplings "Water dumplings 300 yen". At this price, each dumpling is large and has a good volume. The skin is thick and chewy, with a generous amount of meat filling. Although there is no juicy feeling, the deliciousness of the filling that doesn't lose to the sweetness of the skin is great. Review "Definitely!!! I will come back again!!!"

Horikiri Ayameen. A shop run by an elderly couple. Their dumplings are said to be delicious, so I visited with zero expectations. It's just a few minutes' walk from the station. A small shop with a few counter seats. On the counter, there are many strips of paper with menu items written on them. I ordered the following items, including what I came for: - Assorted plate 500 yen - Cilantro water dumplings 450 yen - Pan-fried dumplings 350 yen - Pig trotters 600 yen (half cut 300 yen/half) - Chuhai 350 yen - Shaoxing wine half 800 yen The assorted plate came with pig heart, ears, roasted pork, celery, and long green onions. There was quite a lot and the price was reasonable. A regular customer who came for takeout said that the contents change each time. The cilantro water dumplings had a chewy skin with a flavorful meat juice bursting from inside. It was super delicious. I wanted to order another plate if I wasn't on a budget. The pan-fried dumplings also had a delicious skin. The surface was crispy while the inside of the chewy skin had just the right amount of filling. This balance was great. We shared the pig trotters, which were lightly seasoned and had a sticky texture that didn't get boring. When I ordered a half of Shaoxing wine, it came in a large sake bottle with a small cup, which was a bit challenging to pour into. The warm hospitality of the couple also made me feel cozy. Despite being far away, I want to come back to this place many times.

After getting off at Horikiri-Shobuen Station and walking along the main street, I turned east at the intersection and found "Haruhama Gyoza". Until recently, it was takeout only, but they have recently resumed dining in the store. I was surprised to find a small space with a counter of 5 seats. It felt like an outdoor stall inside the building, with an elderly couple working briskly. Since it was a weekday lunch, I ordered the set of "wonton, fried dumplings, and half rice". The fried dumplings had a nice crispy texture and the skin was chewy, with a good balance of vegetables and meat in the filling, making it easy to eat! The wonton had a light soy sauce base, with plenty of bean sprouts and wontons inside?! It was so voluminous that my stomach was full... haha. It's amazing that all of this is only 700 yen. The elderly couple's attentive service made me feel their care. I hope this local Chinese restaurant will continue for a long time! Thank you for the meal~

Gyoza restaurant located about three minutes from Horikiri Shobuen Station on the Keisei Electric Railway. It had been closed for a long time due to COVID-19, but reopened recently. I ordered beer, boiled gyoza, and fried gyoza. The gyoza had a thick and unique skin texture that was really good. When you bite into the skin, the juicy meat inside bursts out, making it delicious. It may seem simple, but I think these gyoza are amazing. The restaurant is run by an elderly couple, so I recommend going early. Thank you for the meal.

[November 2021 Revisit] During the state of emergency, I used to get takeout from Harbin Gyoza multiple times. Finally, now you can drink alcohol at the restaurant. I visited eagerly on a Saturday afternoon and just managed to get a seat for one person. By the way, everyone was indeed drinking (^_^;) The owner recognized my face, which made me happy. It's a restaurant I've been to many times, so I quickly ordered dishes I had enjoyed before. And then, it was time for drinks. They had a highball (380 yen) on the menu, which was a pleasant surprise. I had to try it. After that, I switched to a half-size Shaoxing wine (800 yen?). - Assorted Offal 500 yen A mix of pig ears, pig heart, and pig tongue. Personally, I like pig tongue the best, but all the offal at this restaurant is delicious. The crunchy celery and collagen-rich pig ears. The firm texture of the heart. The fatty and tender tongue. This assortment might be the best recommendation at this restaurant. It's always delicious no matter how many times I eat it. - Tomato Water Dumplings 400 yen This is a regular order for me. Recently, a strong competitor called Cilantro Water Dumplings has appeared, but my favorite is still this one. The regular water dumplings are good, but they can be a bit bland. However, when tomatoes are added, the flavor completely changes! The richness and juiciness of the tomatoes combined with the water dumplings are truly amazing. It even has a bit of an Italian touch. - Century Egg Tofu Salad Cubed tofu with century egg and chopped green onions. The dressing is simple, with sesame oil and salt. But it's amazing. Century egg is a unique ingredient, but with this simple dressing and combination of ingredients, you don't feel any negative aspects of it. I like century eggs on their own, but when combined with tofu, the taste is on a whole other level. ----------------------------------------- [In Conclusion] While you can be satisfied with just ramen or dumplings at this restaurant, the offal assortment and tomato water dumplings are exceptional (^_^) It's primarily a takeout restaurant, but dining at the counter and trying various dishes is definitely the way to go here. Today's bill came to 2430 yen. Thank you for the meal.
