I was hungry but didn't have a specific menu in mind, so I experimentally ordered a double topping of my favorite pork shabu-shabu and tried the sweet curry that I had never eaten before. The sweet curry seemed more like the original curry with something added to reduce the spiciness rather than being specifically made for a sweet taste. The color suggests that they may have added some milk-based ingredients. Since the original curry isn't very spicy to begin with, I probably won't order the sweet curry again. Having triple topping of the pork shabu-shabu was a bit too much, I think adding two toppings plus a different topping would be best.

The beef curry with extra beef and half pork belly topping, as the name suggests, is a black curry with plenty of beef. Normally, I always add pork belly topping to the normal curry menu, which is closer to home-cooked taste, but in this curry, the pork belly did not match and was unnecessary. The taste of the curry itself was not great.

I rarely go to chain restaurants, and when I come back late, there are few places to eat near Chitose Funabashi Station. I wasn't in the mood for Matsuya or Sukiya. I thought about enduring with convenience store food, but then I found that Curry House CoCo Ichibanya was still open. Even though I'm not a big fan of curry, I ended up going in. I looked at the menu and found Hashed Beef! That's it! I ordered Hashed Beef with 500g of rice, half cheese, and half scrambled egg for 1197 yen. I noticed they also serve alcohol, but I refrained from drinking today due to overindulging. The Hashed Beef was delicious! I have a feeling I'll be coming back to CoCo Ichibanya for a while.

After several years, I visited CoCo Ichibanya. Recently, spice curry, soup curry, and Western-style curry have become popular, but as someone who prefers mild home-style curry, CoCo Ichibanya is a good fit for me. The signature menu is filled with plenty of vegetables and meat. I used to think it was expensive a few years ago, but with the emergence of the aforementioned curries and high prices, it is now common to find dishes in the 1000 yen range, making it actually feel quite affordable.

Before coming to Tokyo, I was in Nagoya, so there were Coco Ichi curry restaurants everywhere. However, adding toppings could easily push the price over 1000 yen, so I tended to go to Asian curry restaurants instead, as they were cheaper and delicious. I rarely visited Coco Ichi. This time, I decided to visit due to the 20% PayPay cashback offer. The taste was stable and typical Japanese style, and it was quite good after not having it for a while. It would be more user-friendly if it were a bit cheaper.

I've been using the Odakyu Line for a long time, but this was my first time getting off at Chitose-Funabashi Station. After work, I stopped by Coco Ichibanya under the elevated tracks for dinner. I had the Eggplant Curry (671 yen including tax), which is one of my favorite standard menu items at Coco Ichibanya. It comes with 6 freshly fried eggplants. The fried eggplants go really well with the medium-spicy pork curry. Unlike most places that serve each item separately, here they serve all 6 eggplants together. The rice and curry are also served together. I enjoyed it with the perfect match of Fukujinzuke pickles. I look forward to trying it again at another restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

A curry specialty chain store located in front of Chitose Funabashi Station. Compared to other Coco Ichi stores, it has a more calm atmosphere. The customers also seem calm and peaceful. I ordered the regular pork curry. Depending on the time of day, it may take a little longer to be served. The ingredients are well simmered. The base is a sweet curry roux with added spices for heat. You can add extra heat using the "extra spicy spice" provided on the table. Overall, it's a delicious curry.

The suspicious gourmet exploration team in Chitose Funabashi. Tonight's dish is Funade Curry. Since it's a hassle to search for various places, we came to Cocoichi. They are offering a trendy spice curry for a limited time. Let's try it out. I ordered the rice, with normal spiciness. After a short wait, the curry arrived. The curry is tomato-based with summer vegetables like eggplant, cherry tomatoes, okra, asparagus, and chicken. It's not as spicy as it claims to be as "Spice Curry," but it's not bad. Actually, I prefer this over their original curry. The price is reasonable too. They should consider keeping it on the menu even after the limited time period.

Suspicious Gourmet Expedition in Chitose Funabashi. Tonight's dinner is Funade Curry. Feeling a bit low on funds and lacking the energy to explore, I decided to go for the curry at Coco Ichibanya. It's a nationwide chain that sets the standard for Japanese curry, for better or for worse. It's convenient to be able to eat at a reasonable price. Looking at the menu, I chose the Chicken Cutlet Curry (774 yen). I asked for it to be normal spiciness and portion size. After a short wait, the curry arrived. Huh? Something seems off. Come to think of it, the picture on the menu looked like this, but the cutlet is perfectly square. It feels a bit weird. After tasting it, I understand. Hmm. It's clearly processed meat. Well, maybe when trying to make the same size cutlets at a low cost nationwide, this is what happens. But still, this is disappointing. The curry sauce is a safe, mild flavor that's suitable for everyone, but with this cutlet, it's just not right. I don't feel like paying for this. I should have looked closer before ordering. Lesson learned.

Odakyu Line, Chitose Funabashi Station. There is a restaurant area under the elevated tracks. Although there are not many shops, there is a rich variety of options such as sushi, curry, soba, and yakitori. When it comes to curry, Coco Ichibanya is a must-visit. I was intrigued by the Red Tartar Sauce (103 yen) and chose the crispy chicken as a topping. The combination seems to work well. Although the cabbage is not very tasty, I always end up ordering the salad. I think the Red Tartar sauce is a good addition to the regular spicy curry. If you increase the spiciness of the curry, it might become too sweet. As a spice essence for regular curry, it's great.

As the year-end approaches, work is getting really busy haha and it feels like it's tough to go far. This week seems tough for Kitamura-san lol. So, I made it just before closing time. When it comes to curry chain restaurants, CoCo Ichibanya is the best. I like curries with small ingredients, I'm not a fan of chunky ones. Today's menu: Hand-kneaded? Menchi Katsu Curry and Ham Salad. The drinkable curry is always a stable taste no matter when you eat it. The Menchi Katsu has cheese in it, but I'm fine with just a normal thin Menchi Katsu. It's a bit pricey for Menchi Katsu though.

It's been a while since I've been to CoCo Ichibanya. It's the largest curry chain in Japan, for better or for worse, their curry has become the standard in Japan. The restaurant was half full on a weekend night. Today, let's try the limited-time menu item, the Chicken Tender Curry (940 yen). After a short wait, the curry arrived. It came with two chicken tenders and just the curry sauce, a simple menu. It felt a bit lacking. The taste was neither good nor bad. The price just under 1000 yen was a bit questionable.

I stopped by for lunch on a holiday afternoon in October 2016 around 2 pm. This CoCo Ichi is located near Odakyu Line Chitose-Funabashi Station. To be precise, it is located under the Odakyu Line elevated tracks, just a few seconds walk from the ticket gate. The restaurant has counter seats as well as table seats, and it was quite crowded with families with children on this holiday. I was seated at the counter and ordered the Cream Croquette Curry (with crab). I often order this menu item when I come to CoCo Ichi because it is affordable at 669 yen including tax and fills me up. This time, I added extra spicy spices and enjoyed a satisfying meal!
I visited again for lunch on a weekday afternoon in December 2016 around 1:30 pm. This time, I was able to sit comfortably at a table. I ordered the Fish Fry Curry. This menu item is also reasonably priced at CoCo Ichi, so I often choose it.

I have visited this place several times. It seems like a place with a relatively high male customer ratio. It was not crowded on this day, so I decided to go in. It's been a while since I had CoCo Ichibanya. I ordered the chicken soup curry. After a few minutes of waiting, the piping hot soup curry arrived. It had crispy chicken, okra, eggplant, potatoes, and carrots. The rice was cooked just right for curry. The taste was good with a spicy kick typical of soup curry, but I think it would have been better without the crispy chicken. The price was the same as Hokkaido soup curry, but the meat portion seemed smaller compared to other places, so it felt a bit expensive. However, considering that they are open until late at night, it's not too bad.

I went to a curry restaurant for dinner on my day off because I didn't feel like thinking too much about where to eat. The restaurant is located near Chitose-Funabashi Station on the Odakyu Line, under the elevated tracks. It was fairly busy with customers, so I ordered the pork cutlet curry without much thought. I asked for medium spiciness and regular 300g of rice. After a short wait, I was served a glass of water with a delay, and then the pork cutlet curry arrived. Unfortunately, the cutlet was a bit overcooked and dry. It seemed like the staff might have been a bit overwhelmed due to the holiday and the lack of enough part-time workers. I noticed that they had to confirm orders with other customers as well. Overall, the operation seemed a bit chaotic, so I have to lower my rating for this restaurant.

I was taken to Coco Ichibanya by some young people for lunch, and I was a bit confused about how to order from the menu. With their guidance, I ended up choosing the same thing as everyone else - a hamburger with cheese topping. It was a bit pricey, and I couldn't help but wonder if young people these days are all rich. My sons also seem to frequent this place, but if I'm going to spend this much, I'd rather go to C&C. Despite my reservations, Coco Ichibanya seems to be quite popular among the younger crowd, who all seem to love it. Maybe I should have gone for the vegetable curry instead of the hamburger. I had it once before and felt the same way - it's overpriced and just not my cup of tea.

This is a shop located under the guard at Chitose Funabashi Station. It looks new and very clean inside. There is not only counter seating but also one sofa seat and seating for 16 people. The curry rice from Coco Ichibanya is always delicious, with no disappointments. I personally like the regular pork curry rice, but I often buy it to take home from this shop. They also have chairs for those waiting for takeout orders. You can choose a normal portion (300g of rice) or add 100 yen for a large portion (400g of rice) to share with a child, which is what I often do. I was impressed by the sign at the entrance warning about the step, and I found the shop very kind and thoughtful, with amenities like picture books and a restroom. It's a really nice place that doesn't feel like your typical Coco Ichibanya near the station.

I have been using their delivery service for a while. When I recently placed an order, I was surprised by the significant increase in the total cost. A pork shabu base, toppings, rice for 400 yen, and one spicy option made it over 2000 yen. I had heard that Cocoichi had raised their prices, but I didn't expect it to be this high. Even at a ski resort, a pork cutlet curry doesn't cost over 2000 yen. Maybe Cocoichi is planning to withdraw from delivery services? I don't think I will order delivery from them anymore. I will just eat at the restaurant.
