It's been a while since I visited, and this nostalgic store never fails to disappoint. The rice crackers taste just as delicious as they did in the past. The salt-free Arare has a delicate flavor that is particularly appreciated by those who need to strictly limit their salt intake due to kidney issues. It's not just about the delicious rice crackers, but the store itself is a nostalgic symbol. There was a crisis before the Olympics when the original plan was to relocate, but thanks to efforts to preserve the old town and the surrounding area, the store is still thriving. The nearby traditional sweets shop also benefited from this movement. There is no reason to deduct points, but considering relative fairness, I would give it a reevaluation. The store itself is well-maintained.

On December 27th, I went to the University of Tokyo Hospital for a check-up, but surprisingly didn't stop by. It's because I didn't forget, I had planned to come on New Year's Day. It's perfect to stop by Yushima Seido and Kanda Shrine. Our shop will definitely be open on New Year's Day. Lately, I've been loving the baked arare. You can really taste the skill. Of course, all arare varieties and disc-shaped senbei are excellent products.

This long-established store in Edo is still thriving. I often buy their products on my way back from the University of Tokyo Hospital. They have a variety of soy sauce-flavored Arare, which I highly recommend, but the Senbei-shaped Okaki is also recommended. The thinly baked Arare is the ultimate recommendation. The wide variety of Arare and Senbei visible from the front of the store is impressive.

Located near the Ryugasaki Gate of the University of Tokyo, this place is convenient for people traveling to and from the University Hospital. The baked arare is highly recommended here. Even those with severe hypertension, liver disease, or kidney disease can enjoy a reasonable amount without any issues. The taste is far from boring, with the aroma of the baked arare dough being exceptional. In addition to the baked version, there are many varieties of arare rolled in seaweed with a delicious soy sauce flavor that are worth trying. For those with strong teeth, the chewiness of the Edokonbu variety offers a fantastic aroma. The seaweed-wrapped arare also has a great flavor from the mochi rice. There are many other excellent rice cracker shops and arare shops, but upon revisiting our shop, you will realize that we truly stand out. After the announcement of the Tokyo Olympics, there were talks of redevelopment in this area, which put our shop in a difficult situation. However, I am not sure of the details that followed, but ultimately the town's historic charm was preserved, and our shop was saved. Thank goodness.

I purchased unglazed rice crackers, soy sauce-flavored bamboo leaf boats, and Edo Kin, which has a hint of seaweed. I had given a slightly critical review last time, but after trying again, I confirm that it should be rated as excellent. The rainy season and intense heat have ended, and the weather has become comfortable, even getting colder. The doubts I had last time are now gone. This shop is the best for Edo-style rice crackers with outstanding flavor. I do not give a perfect score of 5 due to relative evaluation including factors other than taste. There are no particular improvement points for this shop.

My partner bought a snack for takeout. I usually don't eat dry snacks much, but the rice crackers with seaweed smelled really good. The soy sauce flavor rice crackers brought back a lot of nostalgia, but I still can't eat a lot. I was really curious about this shop because the building has a lot of charm, so I'm glad I got to experience it. But I really wanted to try something like a sweet rice cracker if possible (laughs).

Whenever I passed by Kasuga Street, I couldn't help but be intrigued by the appearance of this shop. It was open on weekday afternoons, so I decided to take a look inside. The interior was quite lovely. I chose some snacks - one was a type of rice cracker with sansho pepper, priced around 260-300 yen for 100g. I also got a traditional long and narrow snack, but I forgot its name. My friend doesn't usually eat dried snacks, but since they like seaweed, they chose a seaweed roll, maybe called "Genroku"? There were several types of seaweed rolls available, and I received a detailed explanation about the differences in the crispiness of the rice cracker and the type of seaweed used. The sansho pepper left a tingling sensation in my mouth, while the seaweed roll had a nice ocean flavor spreading in my mouth. The traditional snack was so good that I couldn't stop eating it (laughs). Although convenience stores also offer this type of rice crackers, having a variety of choices like this makes the selection process enjoyable. I think Hongo, where such shops still exist, is a great neighborhood.

Today was my day off, so I decided to have lunch in Jimbocho. After eating too much, I decided to take a walk around the area. I stopped by an old traditional Japanese sweet shop in Jimbocho, then walked towards Yushima to visit Kanda Shrine, another old traditional sweet shop, and Yushima Tenjin, before walking to Hongo-sanchome Station. Along the way, I noticed this senbei (rice cracker) shop. It seemed like a nice place with a few customers inside. I looked it up and found out that they are known for their delicious senbei and have a long history. I made a slightly rude inquiry to the shop owner about whether they make the senbei there, which seemed to annoy her, but not everyone knows these things... The service was a bit intimidating (very curt), but I thought it must be delicious. I bought some fried mochi, which is my recent favorite. They only had fried senbei, no baked ones. When I tried it at home, I was amazed by the light and crispy texture, it was incredibly delicious. It was on a whole different level compared to the senbei I've had before. I know the shop owner might get annoyed, but it was so good! I want to try their other baked senbei as well. They use simple methods without any preservatives or artificial seasonings. And it's really delicious! I've found a great shop and will definitely visit again!

The store with a cool exterior that I had always been curious about. The measured rice crackers were surprisingly already packaged. The paper wrapping the two types of rice crackers exuded a nice atmosphere. The nori-flavored round rice cracker was moist and the Edokiriko with seaweed was also a bit damp. Even when microwaved, they don't become crispy.

It's a rice cracker shop located near Hongo-sanchome Station, less than a 5-minute walk away, at the entrance of the University of Tokyo Hospital. Although I've only bought rice crackers there, they are truly delicious with just the right amount of salt and a perfect crispy texture. Most rice crackers are sold by weight, scooped and measured by the owner into a glass container or a tin. They offer a variety of plastic bags to choose from, and the owner will keep adding until the bag is full, sealing it with a rubber band. It's amazing how they stay crispy without getting soggy. I wonder where these rice crackers are made. I think they are made only at this shop. Maybe they have their own factory somewhere?

A couple aged 97 and 85 run a rice cracker shop. The taste is natural with no additives, making it a safe choice. The shop has a lovely atmosphere, and I definitely want to visit again.

A few years ago, on a rainy day during the early summer rainy season, I bought some baked rice crackers and seaweed-wrapped soy sauce-flavored snacks called okaki. I noticed that they were more humid than usual. This shop is a well-established one with a 100% trust rating. The baked rice crackers are the ultimate in their category, and the variety of seaweed-wrapped okaki is outstanding. The round grass-cut senbei crackers are also impeccable. The baked rice crackers I bought on June 20th have maintained their crispiness until today. The "?" feeling I had a few years ago was a one-time thing. The shop is located around the area where you come out of the University of Tokyo Ryugaoka Gate on Kasuga Street. It seems like there is no successor, so each visit is a precious experience. I plan to stop by on September 5th after my appointment at the University of Tokyo Hospital diabetes clinic.

Rice crackers with a strong soy sauce flavor are delicious, and the soy sauce-flavored Arare wrapped in seaweed is also excellent. However, the plain baked Arare is actually fantastic. It is authentic and cannot be disguised. It has a rich flavor.

A bit critical for the first time. All previous praises are still valid. The quality is maintained. On June 15th, after returning from the University of Tokyo Hospital, I bought roasted arare and Edokonbu. The Edokonbu is a delicious soy sauce-flavored arare. The taste is as usual. As for the roasted arare, there is a slight concern about the salt content, but the delicate flavor is still delicious as usual. However, there is something that slightly bothers me. Of course, it's not a significant change. It has not deteriorated. But during the scorching hot season, the flavor may decrease slightly compared to usual. Arare, in general, does not deteriorate quickly like fresh fish or bamboo shoots. However, strictly speaking, the flavor starts to diminish unless it is eaten right after being roasted. The store is hygienic, and there are no concerns about low standards, but it shows signs of aging. During the rainy season and the humid summer, it is more susceptible to moisture. Overall, I still praise it. But during the transition from the rainy season to the scorching hot season, it is better to be aware that delicate items like roasted arare may lose some of their flavor compared to usual. On the contrary, there is a possibility that first-time buyers who purchase at this time may undervalue the store. It is disappointing for me, a loyal customer. I think, "This is not how it should be," while enjoying it.

The elderly couple (energetic) always remains the same, whether or not they have a successor. Their baked rice crackers are excellent, especially the ones wrapped in seaweed. All their disc-shaped rice crackers are top-notch. The atmosphere is also like a cultural heritage site. I hope they continue for a long time.

The restaurant is open from New Year's Day, serving top-quality arare (rice crackers) all year round. The small baked arare have low salt content, making them suitable even for those on a strict salt-restricted diet. Many people visit the nearby Yushima Tenjin Shrine on New Year's Day. It would be even better to leisurely visit the shrine during regular times and then casually stop by the restaurant.

I have known this restaurant since I was a student, and now my grandpa, who used to take me there, is 96 years old and still active. The food is very affordable and delicious.

Often revisited. Revisited after a visit to Todai Hospital. The waiting time was long and it was dark, so it was at night. The plain rice crackers had a fantastic flavor of rice. The soy sauce flavor, the ones wrapped in seaweed, all were flawless at this long-established store.
