On this day, I had some errands in Shinjuku and wanted to grab a bite to eat around the station. Normally, I would just go to Bell's and have a hot dog with coffee or a lunch set, but I had a lot of necessary documents for my errands, so I felt like sitting down somewhere to eat. However, I didn't want to walk a long distance from the station carrying heavy bags, so I decided to go to the restaurant floor on the 7th floor of Lumine in Shinjuku. Lumine is full of young girls, I really stand out as an older man. Even in the elevator, it was all girls. When I arrived on the 7th floor, popular restaurants already had young girls waiting in line by 11:40. Most of the restaurants with lines were geared towards young people. I was in the mood for Western food that day. When I checked the menu, it seemed like the specialty was omurice, hamburg steak, and steak. The Station Grill Omurice (1,100 yen) seemed to be the basic omurice, but I felt like I wouldn't normally come to a place like this unless something special happened, so I decided to go for the Special Combo Omurice in a pot (1,850 yen). Luckily, there were still seats available when I went to this restaurant. I told the staff that I was dining alone, and a staff member guided me to a table for two. They even offered me a basket for my bags, which was very kind. The restaurant was filled with young female customers and young couples. There was only one middle-aged foreign couple among them. About 10 minutes later, my order arrived. It was a dish with omurice in the middle, hamburg steak and beef stew on both sides. The omurice was different from the Station Grill Omurice as it had a thickly cooked egg on top of the chicken rice. The portion of chicken rice was small, maybe because it was geared towards young women. The egg that didn't cover the chicken rice was a bit thicker and more like a thick omelette. The hamburg steak was made with minced meat. I saw them removing air from the hamburg steak in the kitchen, so I don't think it was microwaved, but it didn't leave a special impression. The beef stew had chunks of beef in it. The sauce was a bit sweet. Since there was no sauce on the omurice, I added the beef stew little by little as I ate. Overall, it filled me up. The foreign couple next to me, who arrived after a young couple, had the same omurice as the couple next to them. Maybe the husband's order took longer to prepare? The wife looked a bit puzzled. After finishing my meal, I headed to my next destination. I realized Lumine is really a place for young people, and I continued on to my next location.
