さすらいのうぶちゃん
The other day, during lunch, my colleagues and I happened to enter a restaurant called "Kameido Umedaya Ginza Store." The bomb rice bowl was really delicious, so I thought that seafood dishes would be a safe bet. We made a reservation for a staff welcome party, and four of us went there. Upon entering the restaurant, we were asked to sanitize our hands and have our temperature checked. We informed the staff about our reservation, and they politely guided us to a table for four in the back. As I looked at the menu, I was impressed by the distinctive writing style using a Pentel brush in black and vermilion ink, with many appetizing dishes listed. Whenever I see a menu with such unique handwriting, I have a hunch that everything will taste good, and once again, I was right. We started with a toast with beer! The cold and refreshing Kirin Ichiban Shibori beer for 490 yen per glass was served. It was delicious. The appetizers were a marinated egg and thick fried tofu, both soaked in flavor. They were so tasty that they made the beer go down smoothly. We then ordered some dishes that looked delicious on the menu: - Chef's selection sashimi platter for one at 880 yen: It included bonito, sea bream, negitoro (fatty tuna with green onions), amberjack, and scallops with botan shrimp sandwiched between lemon slices. It was quite luxurious, and the abundance of myoga (Japanese ginger) as a garnish made me happy. - Specialty Bakudan (bomb rice bowl) for 380 yen: This was the same dish I had for lunch before. The appetizer is wrapped in seaweed and has a unique texture and umami flavor that only makes you want more. - Chef's selection tempura platter for 680 yen: It featured spring vegetables such as Japanese arum, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, lotus root, and chrysanthemum leaves, all fried to a crispy perfection. - New onion with ponzu sauce for 380 yen: The sweetness of the new onion combined with the refreshing ponzu sauce was a recommended dish. - Udo (spikenard) and fresh fish with miso paste for 480 yen: This dish featured the scent of spring with udo and white miso with white fish, making me crave sake, so we ordered it. - Fresh oyster for 380 yen each: It was served luxuriously, and the plump and delicious fresh oyster got me extremely excited. - Assorted thin rolls starting from 480 yen (sea urchin and ikura, avocado kimchi): They were visually appealing and delicious. Having sushi rolls as a finale gives a sense of security in an izakaya. The sea urchin was a delightful treat. For additional drinks, we ordered: - Domestic lemon sour for 380 yen: It came with plenty of frozen lemon chunks. If you feel it would be a waste to have the leftover lemon taken away after finishing your drink, there is good news for you. You can refill it for only 200 yen, which is a great deal. I had about three refills of this. - Kanagawa Izumi Hashi hot sake for 980 yen: This was a sake I had never seen before. I enjoyed it in a small cup. It was a well-balanced dry sake that paired nicely with sashimi. - Green tea highball for 390 yen: I love the strong taste of green tea. Ordering and drinking all these items cost me around 3000 yen per person, which was wallet-friendly. I really wanted a place like this in Ginza. Thank you for the feast. I will definitely come back!
