I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend from China and decided to visit. It's a popular place, often full in the evenings. You can enjoy authentic Chinese noodles here. I think the taste also suits Japanese people. The noodles are delicious, but the grilled naan and lamb skewers are also very tasty.

As I passed by the shop, I saw the staff making hand-pulled noodles, so I decided to have dinner there today. I was the only one speaking Japanese inside the shop, so I guess it's authentic. I ordered the hand-pulled noodles with cilantro, a salad with tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions, and lamb skewers. The hand-pulled noodles were like the gentle broth of pho I had in Vietnam, with each noodle being different in thickness but very delicious and easy to eat. The lamb skewers were huge and had no gamey taste, perfect with beer. I would love to go back again.

I visited a Chinese ramen restaurant for the second time in several years and found that the quality has significantly declined. This time, I ordered the steamed beef noodle soup, which was incredibly unpleasant. 1. The soul of the soup lacked richness (it didn't taste like beef bone broth at all). 2. The noodles were clumped together when served. 3. The beef topping lacked flavor. 4. The aftertaste was only of "magic powder." Conclusion: I do not recommend this restaurant, especially for someone like me who is from China. Out.

I went to Lanzhou Ramen, which I had been curious about. Normally, it's crowded and I pass by, but today there are many empty seats. The staff and customers inside are all from the mainland. I don't hear any Japanese. Although I originally planned to have Lanzhou Ramen, I became interested in the yakisoba being eaten by the Vietnamese-looking customers next to me. The menu said "Sweet and Spicy Yakisoba with Cumin," and suddenly I was in yakisoba mode. I ordered using a QR code on the menu with my phone. The noodles were firm and had a great texture. The beef on top also had a unique flavor. Next time, I'll come back to try the Lanzhou Ramen! Thank you for the meal.

Lanzhou Ramen Set (including grilled lamb skewers) for 1300 yen. Additional beef for 300 yen. The soup of Lanzhou ramen is based on beef bones, giving off a nice aroma. However, it lacks a bit of depth and there seems to be too much MSG. The noodles are cooked soft, but they are slightly lacking in firmness. This restaurant is on par with Chinese Lanzhou ramen chain stores, but the taste is slightly different from the authentic Lanzhou flavor. I still think that Sabei is the true original taste.

On a steamy hot day, I decided to eat something spicy and sweat it out, so I went to Huoyanshan, a Lanzhou ramen restaurant. This place is run by locals and attracts many local customers, serving authentic Chinese cuisine. I had the Lanzhou ramen, soupless cold noodles, which was spicy but absolutely delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is the only ramen shop that I consistently visit, "Lanzhou Ramen". Among the three "Lanzhou Ramen" shops in my local area of Ikebukuro 2-chome, this one, "Lanzhou Ramen Kaen-zan", is my favorite. It opened next to the eel restaurant "Manmaru" about four and a half years ago. There is also a shop called "Sai Lanzhou Beef Noodle Ikebukuro Store" which opened about 10 years ago on Heiwa Street, and it's the oldest and most affordable, but I find myself coming to this shop more often. The place is always busy, with many customers who appear to be Chinese. However, this time I decided to try something different and went to a unique place. I ordered "Ma La Crystal Noodles (with chicken wings)" (1,180 yen) + "Beef with Cucumber" (880 yen) + "Grilled Lamb Skewers" (280 yen each x 2) + "Oolong Tea" (300 yen per cup x 2) - as shown in the photo. The "Ma La Crystal Noodles" are slippery and chewy with a good texture, seasoned with Chinese soy sauce, fermented black beans, chili peppers, and Sichuan peppercorns. It also contains what seems to be small bones, which I couldn't quite identify. The chicken wings that came with it were boiled and lightly seasoned, but delicious. The beef with cucumber was marinated in Chinese soy sauce and five-spice powder, mixed with cucumber, and it was a flavor I enjoy. As for the grilled lamb skewers, I have reviewed them many times before, but I always appreciate the youthful and oily flavor of the meat. Overall, it was quite delicious. Thank you for the meal. This shop opened next to "Manmaru" about four and a half years ago. I have been going to "Goku Lanzhou Ramen" on Heiwa Street for about 10 years, which is the oldest and most authentic, not to mention affordable. However, I find myself coming to this shop the most. I have reviewed their menu many times before, so I will skip the items I have already covered. Today, I had the "Lanzhou Ramen" (980 yen) with two "Grilled Lamb Skewers" (280 yen each) as shown in the photo. I also tried the "Chicken Cold Skin Noodles" (980 yen) this time, which is a seasonal limited item. The noodles were light, chewy, and refreshing, perfect for the hot weather. The sauce, made with sesame oil and Chinese soy sauce, was subtle and complemented the dish well. The chicken pieces were tender and flavorful. Overall, it was a delightful meal. This is the only ramen shop that I consistently visit, called "Lanzhou Ramen". Among the three "Lanzhou Ramen" shops in my local area of Ikebukuro 2-chome, this one is my favorite. This shop is called "Lanzhou Ramen Kaensan". It opened next to the eel restaurant "Manmaru" about four and a half years ago. I have been going to the "Goku Lanzhou Ramen" on Heiwa Street for about 10 years, which is the oldest and most affordable among the three, but I find myself coming to this shop the most. It shows "9th visit", but I think I have visited about 20 times because I don't always leave a review when I visit with others. The soup is a matter of personal preference, but objectively speaking, the quality of the noodles is outstanding. This shop is the most popular among the three, always crowded with customers, and the turnover of noodles seems to be fast. Although all three shops serve freshly made and boiled noodles, this shop seems to be the only one constantly making noodles from scratch. This means they can calculate the exact time for kneading and resting the dough, which gives the noodles a lively and fresh taste. I always order the "Lanzhou Ramen" (980 yen) with two skewers of "Grilled Lamb Skewers" (280 yen each). The noodles are hand-made, freshly boiled, and have a lively and flavorful taste. The soup is made by simmering beef bones and beef for a long time, and it has a gentle and subtle flavor. The absence of thinly sliced daikon that I mentioned before seems to have been moved to the topping menu, probably as a replacement for a price increase. The ramen has not increased in price since it opened almost six years ago. I like to add extra chili oil for a bit of spiciness. The grilled lamb skewers are one of the best I've had, with tender meat, flavorful spices, and a perfect balance of oiliness. Overall, I was satisfied with my meal. Thank you for the meal. When looking at the menu, the soup appeared to have a bright red chili oil on the surface, but in reality, there was only a small amount and the flavor was mild. The noodles were similar to cold soba. This restaurant allows you to view the menu and place orders by scanning a QR code with your own phone. It's simple and convenient since you don't have to touch the menu.

I saw the kitchen from the street and was amazed to see the chefs stretching the noodles thinly. I gathered up the courage and decided to give it a try! Ordering was done through a touch panel. I chose the recommended thin noodles and had the lamb ramen. It was truly authentic Chinese cuisine! The portion was generous! The ramen soup was not too greasy, and it paired perfectly with the herbs. The noodles were thin and chewy, providing a satisfying texture. The grilled lamb skewers were delicious too, and I definitely want to go back again.

My favorite restaurant closed down, so I searched online and finally got to visit this place. There were about 7 people waiting outside. I had tomato and egg stir-fried noodles. It was a huge portion. The noodles were hand-made in the kitchen, thick and firm. The flavor was a bit stronger compared to other places. Many restaurants use bok choy, but this one used green bell peppers. I think the bitterness of the bell peppers goes really well with the dish. Most of the customers are Chinese, and they usually order beef noodles. It's a taste that you don't find in Japan, but once you get used to it, it's really delicious. Personally, I think it would be just right if they boiled the noodles a little longer and slightly reduced the flavor.

☆Lanzhou Ramen! [Noodles] Thin noodles (description -> similar to somen noodles) Ordered out of curiosity about the thinness, the noodles do give off a somen-like impression. If we were to add a bit more detail, they can be described as super thin somen noodles that can be picked up with chopsticks, but once in your mouth, they melt... I want to express a softness that is different from being flexible. It's not that they are firm, but rather incredibly soft. They can be picked up, yet easily crushed with the tongue. Most likely, they are easier on the digestion and gentler on the body compared to other noodle shapes. [Toppings] Thinly sliced beef [Garnishes] Cilantro, scallions - generous serving Radish - thinly sliced in half-moons [Set] Soft-boiled egg - visually half-cooked, rich and slightly runny. It absorbs the soup well and is undeniably delicious! Fried noodles with cumin sauce - brown sauce The color and taste resemble fried noodles, with a cumin-flavored, somewhat salty, and mysterious sauce. Onions and bell peppers provide a soothing touch, and the meat is very tasty. Noodles - triangular in shape Three flavor options to choose from: ① Regular ② Spicy ③ Karasunuki When placing your order, if you request "a little bit spicy," they will come to inform you that "even a little spicy might be too much, so we recommend Karasunuki." I went with the Karasunuki option, and indeed, the brown mysterious sauce was quite salty, so even with no chili spiciness, it was already quite stimulating in flavor.

The other day, while on my way to Bonki, I stumbled upon this restaurant that had a ramen shop-like, authentic atmosphere. After finishing up my business in Ikebukuro, I decided to visit this place. It was a weekday night, and the restaurant was full with people waiting outside. Since I couldn't decide what to eat from the kanji menu posted at the entrance, I decided to choose inside. When I was seated, the staff didn't bring a menu, so I had to ask for it. It turned out you had to scan a QR code on the table to place an order. There were spicy mixed noodles and other dishes, but I ended up ordering the limited set of "Lanzhou Ramen" with a boiled egg and lamb skewers. They asked me what type of noodles I wanted, and I chose the recommended thin noodles. While waiting for my order, I heard banging sounds coming from the kitchen. I peeked through the window and saw them pounding and stretching the noodle dough to make thin noodles. The lamb skewers arrived first, generously seasoned and larger than usual, and very tender and delicious. The Lanzhou Ramen had a rich beef-based soup with a seasoned egg. The soup was rich and flavorful, quite different from Japanese ramen. The beef slices were different from the usual pork char siu, more like smoked meat. The soup was so flavorful that even though it had cilantro on top, the strong taste of the soup overpowered it. Most of the customers in the restaurant were foreigners, perhaps enjoying the authentic taste. It was delicious, and I left feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

The lamb ramen is not as oily or salty as traditional Japanese ramen, and has a gentle flavor that is easy to eat. However, be cautious if you don't like pepper, as it has a strong pepper flavor. The portion of noodles is quite generous. The fact that you can eat a bowl of lamb ramen for only 280 yen is amazing! The cumin flavor is really delicious. Don't worry about the atmosphere or service!

I have visited Lanzhou ramen shops in Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro, but personally, this is my favorite. I recommend the triangular noodles. You can also get extra cilantro for free. The soup is a flavorful beef bone broth. There are 9 different noodle shapes to choose from. The ingredients include daikon which adds a gentle touch. Cilantro and green onions provide a nice accent, so I recommend getting extra. You can also choose options without cilantro, without green onions, or without spice. Qingdao beer is available for 500 yen, which has a slightly fruity taste and is easy to drink. The lamb skewers are a must-try with their unique ethnic spice flavor. Overall, the food is delicious. The service can vary depending on the staff, but the taste makes up for it. The cost performance may not be the best, but the deliciousness justifies it. I give it a high rating for the great taste. The ordering process involves scanning a QR code with your smartphone and selecting items from the menu. Surprisingly, I paid with PayPay at the register. Attached is a screenshot of the QR code menu as of April 1, 2023.

Visited around 1 pm on a national holiday. The place was almost full. Squeezed in at the narrow counter. Had a bottle of beer (medium size) for 500 yen and a set of Lanzhou Ramen (thin noodles) for 1,300 yen. The distance between me and the person next to me was so close that I couldn't even place the lamb skewers horizontally. Had to eat them vertically in a weird way. The lamb meat was delicious. The ramen had thin sliced beef and a broth-like soup. It was my first time trying Lanzhou Ramen, and I can see why it's popular with its approachable composition. Because the cramped counter wasn't very comfortable, I'd like to try a place with more space next time. If the narrowness is part of the atmosphere, then I'll accept the criticism, but I prefer a bit more room.

On a regular evening, I was busy and it was already 5 p.m. but I hadn't eaten anything yet. I needed to eat something soon for my energy. There was a restaurant nearby that I had been curious about, so I decided to go there. It was the Huoyan Shan Xinjiang Aroma Ikebukuro Higashi-guchi branch. When I entered and looked at the menu, I couldn't find the lamb skewers that I was looking for. When I asked the staff, they told me it was at the Nishiguchi branch! I didn't realize there were three branches in Ikebukuro. I moved from the east exit to the west exit and finally arrived. I ordered the lamb skewers and ramen that I wanted. It was only 5 p.m. but the restaurant was already about 80% full. The food was served in about 5 minutes. The lamb was delicious without any strong flavor. It's a great place to enjoy lamb easily, so I recommend it to those who like it. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I want to enjoy a meal more leisurely.

This was my first visit since the renovation. I tried to visit in late October 2022, but it was still under renovation. When I peeked in again after over half a month, it still seemed to be in the middle of renovation, with a feeling of being a pre-opening for those involved. The interior of the store didn't feel drastically different. The only noticeable changes were that the wallpaper and ordering process via QR code. After the New Year, it finally felt like it was fully open. However, the food remained the same as always. I tried adding a twist by getting takeout once, but dining in was pretty much the same as always. I ordered the "Lanzhou Ramen" (980 yen) with "Grilled Lamb Skewers" (280 yen) – as shown in the photo. I have been a regular customer for about five and a half years since it opened, and I was pleased to see that the prices had remained the same. There were rumors in the local area that the prices would increase after the renovation. The soup still had the same delicious taste as before, made from "long-simmered beef bones and beef" with a hint of "proudly flavored Chinese herbal medicine." Despite being a medicinal soup, it was gentle and subtly flavorful. The noodles were, of course, freshly made, stretched, and boiled. The lively taste of hand-pulled noodles was evident. First-timers might be surprised by the loud banging sound that echoes through the restaurant as the noodles are made. I opted to skip the cilantro this time. Wait, come to think of it, did they forget to add the thinly sliced daikon radish? Or did they run out? The chili oil on the table allowed me to adjust the spiciness to my liking. I've started to enjoy a bit of heat gradually. The grilled lamb skewers had a youthful and appealing meatiness. They were tender, slightly oily, and paired well with the spices. This time, I asked for extra spiciness on the skewers as well. Yep, it was delicious, just like before. I left satisfied. Thank you for the meal.
