A standing sushi restaurant opened on the first basement floor of Nakano Broadway. It is located next to Katsuta Shoten, a fresh fish store on the same floor, near the recently uploaded udon and Omon-san. The restaurant is situated in the former location of a curry shop called Tari-ya, which was opened by Renzo-san. The establishment has a simple, DIY-style interior. Since it is a standing restaurant facing the walkway, customers will see shoppers passing by while eating. Only water in paper cups is available for drinks, but you can bring your own beverages. While waiting for the 1,500 yen sushi set to be prepared, you can purchase canned beer from the nearby Seiyu supermarket. The sushi is served with a miso soup with crab, although it is in a disposable Styrofoam bowl. The sushi rice is seasoned with red vinegar and the pieces are decently sized and tasty, although some may appear roughly prepared, such as the conger eel. The variety includes favorites like medium fatty tuna and unusual options like beltfish. The miso soup is flavorful, but the crab is not pre-cut, making it difficult to eat. As you enjoy your sushi and beer, you may notice shoppers observing you, especially a foreign couple showing keen interest in the experience of enjoying standing sushi. Overall, the restaurant gives off a vibe of being run as a side business by the fish store, with the chef's attire resembling that of a fishmonger. To elevate the experience, it is suggested that the chef wear a traditional white coat and a sushi chef's hat. Additionally, providing green tea, even as self-service, would be a nice touch. This way, the restaurant's name "Sushi Katsuta" could also be read as "Fish Delicious."
