In the morning of this day, I had a meeting with a business partner in Ginza. The negotiations went well, and now it's time for lunch. Having worked in an office in Ginza for 20 years, it still feels familiar. I thought about going to some familiar places that came to mind, but decided to try a new place recommended by a fellow reviewer. ① Exterior, atmosphere, interior of the restaurant It's about a 6-minute walk from Ginza Station, located on Namiki Street in the Carioca Building on the 3rd floor. The building houses "Nanban Ginen-tei". Inside the restaurant, there are counter seats surrounding the kitchen immediately after the entrance, and table seats at the back. It's quite spacious. The lighting is dim even during lunchtime, creating a moody atmosphere. Perhaps they are considering accompanying guests for dinner as well. ② About the food Since I didn't make a reservation and it was my first visit, I decided to order the most affordable "Fukahana Set for 1,500 yen". It is a weekday limited menu available only at the counter seats. The set includes salad, main dish, almond jelly, and tea. You can choose 2 main dishes from the following: Sichuan Dan Dan noodles, Shanghai fried noodles, White chicken soup with clear broth, Beef pho, Mapo tofu (with rice), Green curry with chicken and colorful vegetables, Shrimp in chili sauce, Black vinegar sauce with Jinhuaham, Special of the week (only shrimp fried rice, no noodles). Of course, the size is half portion, but it's nice to be able to taste 2 different dishes! I was quite torn, but I chose the Dan Dan noodles and sweet and sour pork. The salad was served immediately, along with an offer of "Would you like cilantro if you don't mind?" So, of course, I accepted. The salad includes lettuce, purple onions, cherry tomatoes, fried onions, rice vermicelli, and is quite colorful. It's nice to have two types of dressings, one based on chili sauce and the other on nuoc mam. Next, the Dan Dan noodles and sweet and sour pork were served on a large tray. Even though it's a half portion, there's a decent amount, which was a pleasant surprise. First, the Dan Dan noodles. Although it is clearly stated on the menu as Sichuan style, there is hardly any spiciness or numbness, and the flavor of sesame sauce stands out. The thick and sticky soup has a smooth texture. The noodles are curly egg noodles, familiar and easy to eat. Next is the sweet and sour pork. The crispy coating with a satisfying crunch of Jinhuaham pork is tender and flavorful. The balance of acidity and sweetness on the sweet vinegar is good, and the finely chopped pickles of cucumber and bell pepper on top add a nice touch. The amount of pork is sufficient, giving it a good bite. Finally, I finished with a smooth and cold almond jelly and Chinese tea on ice. I was full. ③ About the staff The restaurant is managed by a total of 8 staff members, including those in the hall and kitchen. All of them are young men, and they are slim! Perhaps they are tailored to the clientele haha. The basic aspects such as greetings and guiding to the seats were done without any issues, and the speed of serving the dishes was appropriate, and the payment process was smooth. There were no particular concerns. ④ About the cost performance Both the Dan Dan noodles and sweet and sour pork were carefully prepared, with a good amount and high satisfaction. The almond jelly and Chinese tea in the set were also well-prepared, and I understood why this would appeal to women. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely, the staff's service is smart, and I thought it was a good value for a Ginza-like lunch. ⑤ Other things noticed, etc. Next time, I would like to make a reservation for a plan that includes a drink.
