The soup in the pot is delicious. The spiciness is balanced with a strong umami flavor, and the spices are just right. They have a lineup of ingredients that are close to what you would find locally, including duck intestines which are hard to come by in Japan, as well as other offal and brains. However, the really fresh and amazing ingredients that you can only experience in China are something you won't find in Japan. It's understandable since there isn't a culture of eating duck in Japan. As for the drink selection at the izakaya, they offer a great variety including draft beer and Suntory products.

The Matsushige Yutaka from "The Lonely Gourmet" is amazing. Every restaurant he goes to is a hit. The restaurant in front of Ueno Station stands out. I was drawn in by the word "buffet" and decided to try it out. However, there was no buffet or individual dishes available. I could have left right away, but I decided to try the ¥1289 braised lamb dish. The buffet only had salad and some strange black food. The fruit was just canned peaches. Where was the almond jelly? And where were the other fruits? And is the rice really Koshihikari from Uonuma? It's rare to have such limited options in a buffet. After a while, the braised lamb arrived. But it was so spicy! I'm not good with spice, so I only had a few bites and stopped. I couldn't tell what was in the pot. Even after 10 minutes, my mouth was still burning. I left the restaurant after another 10 minutes. The staff didn't speak much Japanese, but they were unusually kind. Maybe it's a restaurant for Chinese people. Unlike Korean restaurants, this one doesn't live up to its sign. It's a shame because the staff is so kind.

I made a reservation and went. This place has a local atmosphere 100%, even for hot pot. There is a device on the table to place orders. The hot pot sauce can be freely made in a separate space. The spicy hot pot is really hot, so I also chose a tomato-based option to balance it out. It's better to gather with 3-4 people and order a variety of dishes.

Since the restaurant is close to my home, I go there every month for hot pot. I think the hot pot here is top-notch in terms of deliciousness, and the staff are very kind and quick to respond. Since moving from Shinjuku to Ueno, the restaurant has become even more beautiful, and a seasoning bar has been added. You can customize the taste to your liking. Highly recommended.

On a Sunday afternoon, there was only one other group besides us in the spacious restaurant, which raised concerns about the business situation. With the recent closure of the Shinjuku branch and the Ueno branch struggling, I wonder if this restaurant will also face the same fate. We ordered a variety of dishes since there were five of us. We had the following: - Ma La and Mushroom Hot Pot - Two types of shrimp paste - Duck blood - Beef tripe - Pork kidney - Heart and pipes - Gizzards - Pork nuggets - Bin Fen - Frozen tofu - Pork - Beef offcuts - Pork brain - Milk tea - Mango and grapefruit smoothie - Sweet sake juice with osmanthus flowers The total came to 4500 yen per person, which is a rare price for Chinese cuisine. I think both the environment and the food were good.

During the New Year's season, I usually go to chain restaurants or authentic Chinese restaurants, but the Sichuan-style hot pot here is definitely top-notch in Japan. For beginners, I recommend Hai Di Lao in Kabukicho or Ken Gassho in Takadanobaba. After that, you can try this place for a more adventurous experience.

The Shinjuku Sanchome era had a really intense image, but here it feels a bit milder. They have ingredients like pig brain, making it a truly authentic Chinese hot pot experience. They also offer all-you-can-eat options and a variety of meats, making it a great value. It might be better to categorize it as a top ethnic restaurant rather than a top Chinese restaurant in Japan.

SHOO LOONG KAN at Ueno offers a two-color hot pot (mushrooms + mala). It is located near Ueno Station, just outside the Asakusa exit. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of a building where there used to be a hot pot restaurant called Xiao Wei Yang. When you get off the elevator, you will see a Chinese-style interior with red lanterns hanging. You can order using a tablet and customize your seasonings, following the authentic Chinese system. I have tried various hot pots in Tokyo, but this one had the best level of spiciness. Even though it was mildly spicy, it was addictively delicious, especially the mala soup that made the mushrooms irresistible. Some rare ingredients I encountered were milk duck blood and fresh brain flowers. Milk duck blood is a common hot pot ingredient made from duck blood, but the addition of milk gives it a unique texture that is surprisingly addictive. Brain flowers are pig brains that may look unappealing raw, but when cooked, they have a rich flavor similar to fish milt and complement the spiciness of the hot pot well.

The first store was located in Shinjuku, but it closed down last year, which was a shock for me as I loved their Sichuan and Chongqing-style hot pot. However, they have recently reopened in Ueno. The interior design has changed to a more modern style, with charging spots available. The spiciness of the hot pot may have toned down a bit, but it is still spicier than other places like Kaikarou. I highly recommend trying the hormone with the special sauce made from over 10 different spices. For those new to authentic Chinese hot pot, I suggest starting at Kaikarou or Ken Gassho before trying this place.

Today I visited Ueno. It was my first visit to Xiao Long Kung Hot Pot Ueno store. Last month when I tried to visit, it was full and I couldn't get in... But on my third attempt, I finally managed to enter. I started with a Qingdao beer. It was served at room temperature, but they also had cold ones and kindly exchanged it for me. For the hot pot soup, I chose the spicy and mushroom flavors. There are usually many options for hot pot soup, like spicy and plain, but they also had "spicy" and "tonkotsu" which caught my interest. You can freely choose condiments and sauces from a bar-like area. It was a bit disappointing that there were no chili peppers available. It was my first time encountering chopsticks that were partially attached. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again if I have the chance.

I've been really into authentic Chinese cuisine lately. This time, I visited a newly opened hot pot restaurant! They have 900 branches worldwide and are very popular in China, with long queues forming. Indeed, besides us, the customers were all Chinese, haha. Of course, we ordered the hot pot! You can choose the spiciness level from 3 options. Without hesitation, we went for the extreme spiciness! You can order your favorite ingredients from a touch panel. The sauces are self-service, with a variety of condiments and spices to choose from. A huge pot arrived unnecessarily, and first, we tasted the soup! As a hot pot enthusiast, the common way to eat is to first drink a cup of the white soup and a cup of the red soup (for those who are not good with spicy food, go easy on the red soup). Hot pot soup is good for your body, so we drink a lot of it, haha. This time, the soup alone was totally fine! Delicious^_^ This is my favorite type of hot pot! The spiciness is average. It's not extremely spicy. However, the air conditioning in the restaurant wasn't very good, so the combination of heat and spiciness made it quite a tough spicy adventure, haha. One particular ingredient that caught my attention was the extremely spicy special beef. The meat surrounded by chili peppers looked spicy, but it wasn't as spicy as it seemed. Actually, not spicy at all. By the way, the noodles at the end were super delicious. A recommended way to eat them is to mix them with sesame sauce, Sichuan pepper oil, chili peppers, peanuts, and a little bit of the hot pot soup, turning it into a soup-less tantanmen style, and it was, to put it mildly, amazing!!!! I ordered recommended items a la carte. The wagyu beef for 2000 yen was delicious! The portion of vegetables was a bit small, but overall it was on the expensive side. Having a variety of sauces available was great. The staff recommended a sauce for us and they were very friendly.
